Slow Sunday News - Public Enemies TWO?

Little Bohemia Update from Linda

I thought that I would take a ride up there today (1.5 hours away one way) when I saw the sign by the highway it said closed on it. Before I even got into the driveway security saw me and started to walk towards my car. When I got closer to him I stopped and rolled down the window and he asked me if there is anything that he could do. I asked him if I would be able to take any pictures. He told me that there is no pictures or videos allowed and I didn't even turn around in the parking lot seeing that over half of it was filled with trailers so I just turned around in the driveway with him watching me the whole time; otherwise I would have taken a picture with my camera phone.

But I did get a little look at it.

It looks a lot different already. Most of it (all I could see is from the south side to just past the main entrance) was painted dark brown. So I'm sure as time goes on and they get closer to the film date there will be more security. So if you can tell everyone out there they should not even bother going up there during the filming because it's going to be a waste of time, money, and gas. I even think that when they are filming they are going to have the entrance itself blocked off, because they would not be able to block off the road seeing as it's the main highway.

Rumor mill for you guys to talk about.

Is there MORE then one Public Enemies in the works??? A sequel??

In my many conversations with people in and around the movie a . . . . hint, shall I say, that there is more then one PE in the works. For instance - one "B" actor commented on PE2 and when asked what PE2 meant he laughed it off and said the sequel.

Then we found this web sight that was created in JAN 2008

I believe they could be Adam Boors perhaps (just a guess)?? Or some other location scout?

It's labeled publicenemy1. ????

If there is a 1 . . . . . could there be a 2?

I have to give credit to DJ for this find.

I'm preparing for a small business like trip where I might be out of touch but I won't be invisible.

Kitty will be giving reports through out the week and comment away. I won't be far away but I won't be near a computer for the most part of the days. Don't expect any quick replies to emails.

I received this email from efudd and I had to laugh at the photos! Ya gotta love spring in Wisconsin. and a very very LATE spring it is. I'm sure Michael Mann really appreciates it.

We were in the process of being interviewed by some guys doing a documentary and they were totally missing the photo op. I said to Janey "there's Michael Mann" and she reached right out and thanked him coming to our town and he couldn't hear her, so he got closer and I got the photo...it was so damn exciting!

Michael Mann is heard commenting under his breath "I wish I could bring my whole family here in April, the weather is so wonderful" trs=0

Kitty's report

"The sun will come out tomorrow. Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow there'll be sun." Little Orphan Annie, you're my hero! There is some bite to the wind today, but on this glorious Sunday morning in Oshkosh we have Mr. Sun!!!

The excitement is building! Things are rockin' and rollin' today as crews are in preparation for a dusk to dawn shoot tomorrow. City of Oshkosh crews are on Washington taking down all modern stop and go lights and street signs. The period style lights are laying in position and ready to be put up. The tarp has been pulled from the trolley. Looks like the Masonic Temple area is THE place to be tomorrow.

There are groups of production people all over discussing various items for tomorrow's schedule. Crews are still working on the cobblestone on Main and Algoma. And it looks like the initial laying of the cobblestone on Algoma was wrong. The direction is totally different today.

Main Street storefronts are still being worked on. And they are putting plywood in the windows above the New Moon. Early rumors where that JD was supposed to be jumping out of those windows. Guess we'll know how true that is come mid-week.

Those crews are like a well-oiled machine, moving from one task to the next with great ease. After a little Fancy Feast, Kitty will be heading back to see what other progress has taken place.

Talk to you . . . .. next time!

  1. A sequel? Hmmm. Well, if it happens, you can say that most of us heard it here first. And how on earth did you find that photo album? You are sneaky sneaky, Rod. Thanks to you and Kitty for keeping us updated on the goings-on at Oshkosh!

  2. Unless JD wants to do another movie about a gang of disgruntled ghosts, I highly doubt the sequelability of this film. Although I wouldn't be adversed to Ghost Dillinger haunting sixty year old Purvis in an Odd Couple meets Casper type pitch.

  3. Omg! The webshots photo gallery is amazing!! This is so imformative on where they're going to be filming!

  4. Interesting, this photo has the caption "Slayman's Milw. 102 E Vine no garage but driveway - Mark." Mark?? Is that a person? Is there someone on the crew named Mark?

  6. I think the name is "publicenemy1" because there is already a user named "publicenemy."

  7. Ok, so which is it tomorrow?

Yesterday is was a daylight shoot.

Now it's a dusk til dawn shoot?

    Which is it?

  8. Does any body know if Christian bale will be there? Or is it just JD? :)

  9. "I think the name is "publicenemy1" because there is already a user named "publicenemy."'

    That is probably the it.

  10. After a little Fancy Feast with a Meow Mix chaser, Kitty is once again on the prowl on the PE-Oshkosh set.

Rigging has gone up across the street from the Masonic Temple. A crew member told me its for a green screen.

Correction: It is a daylight shoot on Monday. DAWN 'TIL DUSK. Sorry for the reversal. Dyslexia strikes again!

From a reliable source: there will be a Meet & Greet on Monday.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Oh, my goodness! Green screen! I am interested in special effects and would love to see things being filmed on a green screen.

Do you know when and where the meet and greet will be on Monday?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Sorry. Don't know when and where for the Meet & Greet. My source just said they were told there would be one -- no details.

  13. Any updates with the Milwaukee call backs for extras? Does anyone know when they will be doing that (if they have not already)?

    Thanks!
    Emily

  14. That's too bad the meet and greet info is getting out there. Now the crowd will be insane and it probably won't happen.

    ReplyDelete
  15. So...they're filming downtown near the sundial / trolly tomorrow? Is that right?

  16. kitty b'gosh, I love your MOXIE! I can just imagine you in a Cat Woman suit prowling Oshkosh! Thanks for all you do.

  17. kitty-thanks again for your newsy tidbits--looks like that Masonic Temple will have some great action. Thanks also for the meet & greet info.---again, I think if people go they shouldn't EXPECT to meet Johnny or any other actor, but if they do, then great. In my opinion, if they didn't mind the crowds, they wouldn't put the info. out there. This is such great PR for the film.

As for the PE1 & PE2---could this also be because 2 units may be filming? By giving them numbers, those that are involved will know where to go...just a guess....

  18. NEWSFLASH - Jenny just told me HistoryHD channel will have a special on Public Enemies (not the movie but the era).

  20. have to say I love this blog...I'm in Oshkosh and have been following the story. Have a friend that is shooting as an extra tomorrow, he was originally scheduled to be an FBI agent on Friday night but had to decline because of prior commitments...he is bummed! But still...We were hoping to catch some him in some of the filming on Monday.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ok, whew. Thanks, kitty. I have a friend here who needs to leave right around dinner time to head back to Chicago, so I was bummed that she might not get to see anything. Glad to know it's still Dawn til Dusk. :)

  22. one thing is when you go to places like little bo or other filming locations..dont act like a tourist..ya know..just blend in..hey wanted to get a burger..blah blah blah....:)

  23. Here is my latest pics from Downtown Oshkosh this afternoon. They had the side doors of the bank open and we were able to get in to get a quick glimpse. The excitement is sure building!!!

  24. Rod--I highly recommend that History Channel show--lots of great info.

lynn-I just checked out your latest photos and the inside of that bank is gorgeous! Good luck tomorrow to all that will be there.

  25. That is definitely a green screen going up in front of the Masonic. It's HUGE!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I just looked it up on the history channel and it runs from 7 to 9 on Saturday night. Looks really good! Thanks for the heads up. Do you think Little Bo is really a no go? What about a "meet & greet" if not actually watching the filming?

    ReplyDelete
  27. never a dull moment! nice digging dj = )

  28. Regarding Little Bohemia: I read on a local hotel's blog that it is closed through filming. So who knows how long that will be. I'd say if you want to go to Manitowish Waters to see what you can see, go. But realize it's VERY small and if you don't have a place there or family/friends there, you will have a hard time finding "a room at the inn." Of course you could find a room in Minocqua or Mercer, and then drive a few miles.

On a recent trip of mine to Manitowish Waters, I saw people who I assumed were scouting for filming sites and who did NOT look like locals. They were obviously checking out areas around the highway (51) that could be used in filming (oh, I don't know) the getaway scenes. I don't think the Little Bo is the only place they will go.

  29. Did you see the pics on that site of Kurth's?? Even the big cat made it in!

  30. I hope they leave the green screen up for another week or so...if I don't get to see it, I will be bummed!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm sure the green screen will come down as soon as they're done with it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I can almost guarantee there won't be a meet and greet tomorrow night with the info getting leaked out. Especially on here with thousands of readers on here. Hope it isn't that way but I'm afraid that the teens will be out screaming in full force and it will end up like Columbus with just a walk by and a wave. I hope that for everyone looking forward to it that it happens and everyone can behave. But it is all over the net now so expect large crowds.

Some info is best kept a secret.

    ReplyDelete
  33. There would be large crowds anyway anon.

Just thought I would check in and say high.

Now everybody behave tomorrow while I'm . . . busy.

BTW - Pam has JD T-shirts for sale at her undie shop.

  34. Lynn - awesome pictures. When I saw the interior of the bank I literally went "WOW." What a beautiful building!

Anon 9:25 - The crowds have been crazy everywhere. I know the second night at Crown Point there was way over 1,000 people out there, and it took him nearly an hour to do so, but Depp still came out to meet the fans. He's awesome like that. Unless the crowd is totally unruly, chances are he'll still come around. I'll keep my fingers crossed for everyone up there. :D

  35. The book Public Enemies isn't just about Dillinger. So there could be sequels based on other people who are in the book. I personally would love to see a better movie about Bonnie & Clyde.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Captain Morgan--

Arthur Penn's "Bonnie and Clyde" is a classic. No one in Hollywood would dare think of remaking that story, at least not with hell to pay from fans and critics. While not particularly based in fact, the film is a milestone in cinema.

    ReplyDelete
  37. wlkingbluepirate, I know the crowds have been big everywhere. But the thing that worries a lot of us is that there are already people disrupting JD at the place that he and his family are trying to stay at. There is actually a person who went to the door So, given that is already going on, meet and greet info just brings out more of those type of people that will act crazy, ruining it for everyone else. Plus, the campus and the high school kids = malay. While most of us here are civilized, a lot of people aren't.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it works out for everyone that is going. Good luck. Just my two cents.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well. I did not know that. That is totally uncool. I really wish people didn't have to get like that. What's the point? You're totally invading someone's privacy and chances are it's not going to pay off. So I see what you're saying. But hopefully the inconsideration of few won't ruin it for everyone. *fingers still crossed*

    ReplyDelete
  39. I disagree. The 1967 Bonnie & Clyde movie I didn't like. I think it could be redone with an updated movie based upon the real facts and historical accuracy. His movie may be considered a classic but I think it sucked. My opinion of course. :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. I agree that the name publicenemy1 could be because there is already a publicenemy or maybe it's because, as mentioned on all the shirts and posters, J.D. was public enemy #1. I doubt there would be a sequel unless, like previously mentioned, it is about the other criminals featured in the book.

  41. The plywood on the windows upstairs from the New Moon is to cover breakaway windows. There will be gunfire (from the robbers) hitting those windows, along with the brick between them which will have some sort of explosives behind a brick façade.

Some photos I took yesterday (Sunday) from the roof of the New Moon:

  42. Billie Frechette was my grandfathers sister in laws sister (if that makes sense) and I grew up on the reservation as well, and I will be very interested in seeing how she is portrayed in the film...
