Ummmmm

Ummmmm It's 4:00 in the morning . . . . . . ummmmmmm

Well, you are on your own today as I'll be busy

Did I mention it's 4 IN THE MORNING? Got to sleep about 12:00 and woke up about 3:30 so I would not miss the 4:30 wake up call.

OK - gotta get dress. GOOD LUCK - be good

  1. does anyone know where the are filming today? I'm thinking the Masonic Temple. My friend whose an extra, is supposed to report today at 530AM in oshkosh. I'm heading down there soon. Hopefully I can get some pictures before I have to get my butt to work.

  5. Rod, I sure hope all goes well for you today. Crikey 4AM is very early. hmmmm

  6. Rod,

your "business-like trip" is not, by any chance, reporting to the Oshkosh set at 5:30 a.m.... is it?! You have to agree that the timing is quite the coincidence...

    ;-)

    *wink, wink*

Whatever you have to do, wherever you have to go, have a safe trip and looking forward to hearing from you when you get back.

  7. I think its pretty obvious he is in Oshkosh or at least trying to lead everyone to believe he is to add to the chatter on the blog :)

  8. yeah, who gets a wake up call?

  9. Rod: Undercover movie star. Well...whatever it is that you're doing today I hope you're not too tired for it.

So I put some Oshkosh pics in my blog today that I don't think were ever posted in here. I also linked to lynn's flickr album, I hope you don't mind. I did give you full credit and compliments.

  10. I just got to work. Ive been out watching the movie set since 7AM. They started filming around 9AM. It looks to be a courthouse scene, and I got some pics of JD coming out of the courthouse. After that, they did many takes of a scene at the courthouse were Homer Van Meter (Steven Dorff) was shown in a shootout with cops, while using another cop as a human barrier. It was pretty cool.

It seems like people in Columbus got closer to the filming than we are allowed here in Oshkosh.

  11. Awesome! Thanks for the report tj!

Looking forward to seeing your pictures if your willing to share. If not, that's totally understandable.

  14. So they're at the Masonic Temple today and tomorrow and then downtown [near the trolly and sundial] until the 20th?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I'll send Rod my pics once I get home and edit them.

Rumor was JD was doing a meet & greet today, but I have no idea how random fans would know facts like that.

Fact is that tomorrow(Tuesday) they are filming some explosive scenes on the corner of Main St. by Walgreens. I was told this by a nearby business owner, who offered to buy some prints from me :-)

  16. ok, what I earlier thought was a courthouse scene, was apparently a scene from American Bank and Trust. This is where the Racine Robbery took place.

  17. Rod, Deppfan, huge thanks for your answers. I, certainly, accept them, but I want to explain the reasons of my sadness. First, I am professional historian and I like historical accuracy. Very much often scriptwriters think, that they write much better, than Lady History. Almost always they are deeply mistaken. When I have read materials about the gang of Dillinger, I have said to my friends: " WOW! Scriptwriters are very much lucky! They should not invent anything. If they will shoot film, precisely following the truth, it will be great! " My friends have agreed with me completely . OK, I know what art fiction is and how it is important in a film. I agree, that Dillinger is very much charismatic person. But why do they want to strengthen his charisma, attributing to him feats of other man? It's just funny. I can only repeat: poor Pierpont. I wonder, whether there will be sometime director, which will shoot a film about him? I am sure, if only filmmakers will give him more attention, his figure will became not less attractive than JD! It is a question of advertising.
Secondly, poor David Wenham. Hollywood early or late should estimate this treasure! It will hardly happen, if he will continue to play third-rate roles of support.
But it does not mean, that my attitude to the film has changed. I still very much love Johnny, I very much love this story and I wait for the film with impatience. Even if David will have just a pair of cues and three occurrences on the screen on a background. I am just sorry about wasted opportunity.

  19. Here's the buzz around our office (3 blocks away.....
I was outside during the filiming with the machine gun going off. Christian Bale is there dressed in a white shirt, a black vest and an old black hat….. the scene they are going to shoot today is when they rob the bank and jump on the trolly car………. Supposidly Johnny depp is there dressed in a very dark brown suit But I didn’t see him. (does anyone have a good pic?)
And to back up TJ's earlier post here's what's been found (and a picture if I can post it right!)
On March 6, 1934, Van Meter, John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, Tommy Carroll, Eddie Green and John Hamilton committed a robbery in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, during which police officer Hale Keith was killed. The robbers escaped with $49,500

  20. wow, what time was Bale there? I heard that Bale would not be in Oshkosh at all.

I'm heading back down there at 2PM, hopefully they are still shooting.

  22. I have my semi-lame photos up.

I'm so mad at myself. I went down, stayed about an hour and fifteen mins, kids got the slightest bit antsy and I left... postiive I'd miss it anyway as setup seemed to take forever. I literally no more than snap my 2nd babies car handle down and I hear the explosions/gunfire of the actual shoot! BUGGER.
Anyhow, here is what i Did get... of the setup, no JD I don't think though.

There was a meet and greet and yes My mother and I were one of the lucky ones. More later my MS is hitting me hard so bear with me on getting the photos out later tonight or am.

  35. Had to work today. Got to the set about 4. Shoot ended around 7. Heard some rumblings that some scenes have been added and will be shot Tuesday. Not sure if those will be at the Masonic or if they involve a chase scene that is rumored to be filming on a country road near Winchester area. The rumors in the areas I was in today were that the windows will blown out of the bank on Main Street on Thursday. Wish I had more to report. But when you've got to slave away all day for a paycheck its hard to get those little tid bits. Vacation Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Hopefully I will be able to be a bit ore informative those days.

  36. Did anyone get any good pics today?

  40. Winchester? Really? That's near where I work. :)

Yes, there was a meet and greet. I got some great pictures and got to shake his hand. The meet and greet was across from base camp - along Jefferson St.

And no, Christian Bale was NOT here today.

  41. Hi all,

just back from meet'n'greet... my 9-year old daughter got to shake Mr. Depp's hand and she is very excited about it. The crowd was VERY well behaved, no pushing or showing or any other disrespectfulness.

Yes, I have pics of John Michael Bolger, David Wenham, Stephen Dorff (sp?), Johnny Depp and every Extra that walked past ;-)

Will try to upload to my shutterfly account - but first I have to bring the kids to bed.

  42. I MET JOHNNY DEPP! No joke! He was SUPER nice! According to what the security guards told me... he does the meet and greet thing almost every night after filming. As long as the crowds behave, he will continue doing them. I am SO excited! Rod, thank you for all the wonderful information, and Kitty... you too! What a fun experience!

  46. I'm also just back from Oshkosh, and I was *thisclose* to Johnny in the meet-n-greet, but did not get to shake his hand. Yeah, I'm still rather shocked. I need to write it all down and get my pics uploaded, but probably won't blog it until tomorrow.

I think my best pics will be on my old fashioned film camera. (It has the better, bigger zoom lens. lol)

  47. Hey, I pent the entire day downtown..Christian Bale was not there...but for a very nice story about Johnny and my son and a few pics, please check out my blog...
    http://thehousethatoshbuilt.blogspot.com/2008/04/mr-depp-comes-to-town.html

Mr. Depp was so nice. We spent a lot of time watching the shoot out at the Masonic Temple and Johnny waved to the crowds on each walk back. Then we walked down across from the YMCA where our friend was the boy on the bike extra and watched (what seemed forever) that scene...I guess that was Stephan Dorff in the burgandy coat get shot..then off to the meet and greet!

Nothing too good in the album but I was only there for an hour..and most of the pics were for my 4 year old who loves the old cars. It's great to hear about everyone getting to meet JD. Hopefully my pictures will get better as the week goes on. Thanks to everyone for sharing their stuff....Oshkosh should host a major motion picture once a month...it's fun!

also, i would suggest sunscreen because i got sunburned today and i looked like a lobster when i was shaking his hand.

  51. I was an extra for the Fri night shooting w/ JD and while I was waiting in the airport I saw Christian Bale getting escorted thru and hop into a waiting black Escalade. I heard he was there for the later scene (Sioux Falls) so take that for what it's worth.

And as for Mr. Depp taking the time after his long day to meet with fans, well, what can one say, except he is a very amazing person who truly cares about his fans.

    C :)

  60. Today was the most amazing day...watching the shoot and getting to see many actors. Not only Mr. Depp but also Stephen Dorff who was coming out of the convention center from eating lunch and had the driver slow down and wave and say hello to my mother and I. Also got a chance to say hello to Christian Stolte. Very nice gentlemen.
Now to Mr. Depp. What a very respectible, generous man. When I shook his hand I said Hello Mr. Depp as he raised his eyebrow he replied Hello and Thank you...Then my mother who was next to me said Welcome to Oshkosh,as he shook her hand he clasped both of them saying thank you for having us.Then he said I guess I better get a pair of overalls!!!...How cute is that! He takes the time to bend over to children to say hello and is just a wonderful person in general. Today was such a great day...hope you enjoy the pics!
