SNAP!

I was a snappin' fool this morning with the ol' camera. Hope you are not on a dial up today!

I woke up and let Blake out (more in HIM later in the blog) and from the deck saw this little scenic moment.

I think that fog is actually cow farts.

Then as we were getting ready to drive to work in TWO cars (it's golf night . . . .more on golf later in the blog) I looked at our Don Wyman Crab tree and noticed it's getting close to flowering.

THEN I'm walking the few blocks to work and notice an odd shaped object I have never seen before in front of our post office. As luck would have it I have my camera and snap away.

Not sure what that is about but it is less creepy then the Martin Luther King Memorial on the other side of the steps. I tried to look at the book but the pages seemed to be stuck together.

Speaking of pets.

Sleeping all nice and cozy when below the bed I hear HACK HACK HACK GLOP!!

Sierra has just blown chow under the bed! YUCK. OK OK what do I do - get up and clean in up and completely wake up? Or stay 1/2 a sleep, roll over and forget about it for a while.

Blake groans in his bed next to us (our dog), gets up, crawls under the bed and LAP LAP LAP LAP LAP LAP cleans it up.

Now I'm completely grossed out and I'm up!

Pet's - ya gotta luv em'.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think the schedule for PE is pretty solid. A few things have occurred that makes me think that you can now PEN in Monday and Tuesday for Columbus.
In the last few days The Company has been in and around Oregon which is south of Madison (home of The Flower Factory - seriously awesome place for flowers). I believe they were shooting Pretty Boy Floyd's death who was gunned down in an orchard.
After Columbus I believe that is it for Wisconsin. Not sure if Stevens Point is in the works as I have not heard anything. No a clue on Milwaukee (anyone anyone).
A few more photos from the Madison shoot coming from 33 Graham.
This last photo is of the crew exchanging license plates. They are REAL anal about the plates. As SOON as the cameras stop rolling for the day they are taking them off. The most stolen piece of set there is.
Universal really does not want to have a parked car that keeps showing a different plate number from scene to scene. Continuity.
In The Untouchables there is a scene where Sean Connery's collar keeps flipping back and forth. In The Wizard of Oz, Dorthy's hair keeps changing length.
Picture Car Drivers always look to see what kind of plate they are getting, plastic or metal. Metal will tell you that your car will be close to the action.
Golf - I have a golf outing at The Wilderness Saturday, some sort of charity scramble - never golfed there and I'm for sure taking my camera - never know who you might run into.
I golfed at Whistling Straits The Irish Course a couple years ago . hre is a quick and dirty web page of photos of the course. I'm male #3 (from the left) in photo #21.
Cheers
Rod
  1. Rod, again with the awesome pictures. LOVED the misty field shot! I drug my digital camera to work today, so that I can stop on the way home and get pics of the Trilium that are freshly blooming along the freeway.
    some rumors in Imdb about Monday being a night shoot???? wouldn't think so unless it is Poser house inside shoot?
  4. Pets are like children; you gotta love 'em, because there are times.......!! I had our black lab tied out one night last week. He loves to watch the world go by. A while later I got a phone call from a neighbor saying that someone had stopped in his driveway and told him there was a dog running around near me with a long rope attached; could it be mine? It was! And apparently he had rolled in SOMETHING!! Something that didn't smell very good AT ALL!!! In fact; he STUNK!!
    I LOVE your "misty" photo, Rod. And the flowering tree is so pretty!
    ReplyDelete
  5. Love the Harry Dumpty pics! Any idea what's going on with filming today and tomorrow??
    ReplyDelete
  6. Rod, some people enjoy hunting for continuity errors in films. At IMDb there is a goof section for each film. A film as complicated as PE will have to be a feast for these folks (in spite of MM's anal attention). The final editing of this film is going to be VERY INTERESTING and very important.
  7. HA HA of the day (from Wikipedia):
    When Jack Benny attended a White House function a security guard asked him what was in his violin case. Benny replied "a Thompson sub-machine gun" with the guard supposedly saying, "that's a relief, I thought it was your violin."
  8. So are they coming back to Chicago after Wisconsin is over? I live in a suburb near Chicago, but didn't even know about filming until after they left.
    ReplyDelete
  9. rod, what kind of camera do you have? it takes great picture. I am going to get a new camera for my daughter (she will be going to Tanzania this summer-she is a paleontologist) and I am trying to find a good one but not to complicated to use. I would appreciate any info. About the cat & dog issue...Could totally relate to what happened. As Sue said, you gotta love um!!
  10. Rod, your morning sounds like a few of mine. I usually grumble for a couple hours afterwards about...."when these guys are gone, NO MORE!!" and then one of them will cuddle up to 'mommy' and I'm all mush again!!
    Love the fog picture. I was mellowing out just gazing into it and drinking my coffee then I read the next line....spewed the coffee!!! cow farts!! LOL
  11. They have between 5-6 weeks of shooting in Chicago when they're done in Wisconsin. Add to that a week in Miami, and I think that's about it.
    Oh, BTW, my wife took some shots on Madison while I was up on the steps:
  13. Thanks for the PE update Rod.
    Fingers crossed for Columbus! It will sad for Wisconsin when it filming is done. All good things must come to an end.
    Your pet story grossed me out! Almost couldn't finish my latte ;)
    Can't count the times that I've woken up to pet yak!
    Good luck on your golf game.
  14. 5 or 6 weeks in Chicago??? hmmmm I was figuring 3. What about AZ (2nd unit?) and New Orleans and Indiana prison scenes??
    ReplyDelete
  15. Cool pics rod....would you quit being such a meanie and leave your exif info embedded in the pics you post? Then photo nerds like me wouldn't have to ask you what lens you used, etc.....
    ReplyDelete
  16. This was just from the bus driver...so he may only know about his end, not 2nd unit.
  17. JP - those are with a 18-70mm zoom
    That was about 50mm 1/160 f6.3
    Might as well use a my 50mm - sharper but I'm lazy - plus the zoom is big and I feel more masculine using it.
  18. If you think that is bad; try being woken up with the sound of a dog barfing in the middle of your bed at 2 AM>
  19. laura, as I've stated before, I get around! :) I actually live near Wausau, drive to work at the Menominee Reservation, and have a cabin north of Little Bohemia in Manitowish Waters. I haven't been to the cabin in about 2 weeks, so aren't sure about Trillium up there. But I think they'll bloom late this year, as the snow has only been gone a couple of weeks. The Trillium I just noticed on Tuesday are blooming along 29 in Shawano County. BEAUTIFUL!
    FYI: you can't pick the wild ones, but there is a domesticated trillium available for purchase and planting. I think I've seen it in Jung's catalog.
  20. Rod, on your blog today you mentioned you hadn't heard anything about Stevens Point. Was there discussion of filming in Point, because I had never heard that at all? I personally think it would be great!
    ReplyDelete
  21. Just drove through downtown C-bus on my way to the grocery store, and there are more workers out there today. The biggest change is that the antique streetlights are back up!
    ReplyDelete
  22. As far as Stevens Point...I just emailed someone in the know here ( the mayor) and he said he has not heard anything of them filming here at all!
  23. Here is an article in the Beaver Dam paper regarding the filming in BD and Columbus next week. If you read the article that is on the side it appears they plan on filming at the Rogers and in Columbus on Monday, tearing down on Tuesday and filming at the Poser house at a later date.
    Am I reading it wrong? I'm so confused!
    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh, and look at you Rod... with your "crooked" shots. Wink. :)
    ReplyDelete
  25. Tami:
    I think that BD article is just a regurgitation of old information. That's what the setup was going to be when they were going to film there a few weeks ago - even Adam's quotes are the same. The sidebar also says they're going to Mirror Lake AFTER they finish in BD and we all know that's already happened.
    ReplyDelete
  26. this is a article from today..states filming columbus mon beaver damn and columbus tues.
  27. 33 Graham's photos are fantastic, but I can't help but wish they came with a little more information, as in, who are the characters being portrayed in the first two shots?
    I'm guessing the two women standing together could be playing Anna Sage, now known as "the lady in Red," and Polly Hamilton, Dillinger's last girlfriend.
    I can't think of any scene in the script I read that would call for a major character to be riding a bicycle, so that's probably just an extra or bit player brought in for "color."
    ReplyDelete
  28. Thanks. I had a feeling it may be an old article, but I didn't see a date published on the article. I had also thought I heard they were going back to Mirror Lake, but with all the changes lately I could be getting everything confused.
    ReplyDelete
  29. pretty sure the person int he first picture is just a extra. I posted a picture of a women i was guessing was playing anna sage the other day. she was on set but not in costume. kid on bike was just a extra also.
    ReplyDelete
  30. here is the picture again. I am only guessing..and not very educated either:) if anyone else has any idea let me know!
  32. Hey lotus - maybe bad puns are an "up nort" thing? I grew up 20 minutes west of Wausau. I miss the woods and Trillum this time of year. (ooohh... and gooseberries in the summer)
    Rod and Michelle - I'll contact you regarding Walking tour photos soon! I just need to find some time to focus on that project.
    ReplyDelete
  33. Dude on the bicycle was just an extra. He had a pretty sweet gig though ;)
    ReplyDelete
  34. Excellent Kris! My wide angle and I are ready for duty.
    LOL, Rod. Can you imagine if I went on a photo spree after a night at the Kurth? Of course, I really don't drink, but imagine if I did. Ha.
    Like rod said.....bigger glass makes us feel more masculine.....if he wants to drop the "g" and the "l" from glass..that's his call. I'm way too mature for that kinda stuff ;)
    ReplyDelete
  41. JP, I'm excited because I get to play with some "L" glass later in the month when I help photograph a wedding. I really gotta start charging so I can afford my own!
    ReplyDelete
  42. OMG...this place is falling apart at the seams osh!!!!! lol
    L glass???? I'm from the nikon camp so I don't understand that reference.....but I'm guessing it's the "really good" stuff. Is it grey? I loved looking at your pics ....you've got a great eye.
  43. The black dress in the first PE picture was the one I wore as an extra the first four days of shooting in Columbus/Darlington. The same dress is going to be in one of the court scenes from when I was wearing it (it was under various fur coats the other days). Haha. :) That made my day. THANKS!
  45. Michelle,
    If your planning to do weddings you should get the 17-40mm L series...
    And I love it!
    She sure does favor my mother. My mother was born in KY in 1915 and was part Cherokee. Kin to JD--who knows!
    She passed away 31 years ago and I still miss her,especially around Mother's Day.
  57. Osh: From Hwy 151 South, take exit 120, to Columbus. You will go through the downtown (one stop) :) and continue--straight. You will be on Ludington Street. The Kurth will be on your left a ways down, right after the Apple Tree Restaurant. I am guessing about 4 blocks past the "downtown" area. It is on the corner there of Hwy 89 and Ludington.
    Hope this helps! It will be great to see you there!
    the bad pun thing I think this is a northern Wisconsin thing or maybe central Wisconsin we lived in Wisconsin Rapids for 14 years then in Chippewa Falls for 1 1/2 years, before finally settling down here.
    Michelle- we just got a new cannon zoom 55-250 zoom lens w/stabilzation and are throughly enjoying it--were new to the cannon digital thing. can't wait to go and take some photos of downtown :)!
  70. Osh! Sorry I didn't email you back with directions yet, but thank you DJ for providing them. Had lovely company today with Rachel, Elizabeth and her great kiddos... so I have been a busy girl. Thanks for making me smile girls, I really needed it!
    ReplyDelete
  71. laura & Kris, maybe the bad pun thing is cultural? My Dad was mainly German, he was the bad punner. My Mom was mainly Polish and her family had no humor, pun or otherwise. This is very interesting.
    laura, I got some pics of the Trillium today. I've never seen them up close so soon after they started blooming. You know they are in the lily family, and some of the tight blooms really do look like lilies. I was surprised.
    ReplyDelete
  72. lotus - maybe you're right about the pun thing -my dad is the" pun king" our family is german and jewish...now that just sounds like a joke waiting to happen.lol
    I am so glad you saw the trilliums, some one else told me about ordering from jungs too,have to see about that
