WELL NOW! and Honeycrisp

Well OK then.  I SEEM to have won my election unless a good number of votes from overseas come in that were postmarked on Tuesday, so the FINAL results will be Friday . . . I guess!

I might joke around a lot but I do take this seriously.  All three challengers won last night and I will give kudos to Larry Herzog Jr for congratulating me on Facebook!

Now I will start a ground swell to redirect the Crawfish River so boaters and ships of sea can dock at Mullins.  Passengers from liners can spend a few hours downtown before boarding and sailing to back to other exotic places up river.

In fact I have heard that a new business, Mullins River Cruises is in the works which will depart from the famous Mullins Eiffel Tower (construction has almost started, drive past Mullins and you will see the beginnings).

Mullins River Cruise departs from the scenic Crawfish River Front
A note on Mondays City Council - The proposed ordinance change to allow Pay Day Loans was put on hold at the disappointment of Mike Eisenga. Stay classy Columbus!   And seriously - what a stupid place to put a Pay day Loan shark Company, where you need a car to get to it, next to the proposed Sentry?

I don't know all the facts but it just seemed dumb.

Honeycrisp.

My boss was from Thailand and when he came to the U.S. he was so surprised at how many apple varieties American have to choose from.  Where he came from there were maybe 1 or 2 different varieties.  He said what also surprised him was the lack of Mangoes because normally he could choose from one of 10 varieties while we get like 2.

I bought some apples the other day not realizing how freaking expensive they were. I was looking at them and feeling the need to eat healthier and picked up 5 HoneyCrisp apples which cost almost $8.  WHAT????  From HyVee?  And then I find out that Honeycrisp are like the most expensive apple I could have purchased.

So now i'm looking into trying every variety of apple I can find.

First up was Honey Crisp which was developed in Minnesota.  According to the U.S. Apple Association HoneyCrips is the only apple that is highly recommended for all 5 applications

RAW, PIES, BAKING, SAUCE, JUICE.

Its sweetness, firmness, and tartness make it an ideal apple for eating raw.  The cells inside  a Honeycrisp are larger then other apples and hold more water, when chomped into they burst and fill your mouth with an explosive crunchy sweet juice.

Thus the reason for the price is purely supply and demand and the extra high price goes right back to the farmer, not the grocery store.  Expect the price to drop over time but then quality will go down also. Currently Minnesota, Michigan, and Upstate New York are the prime growing regions but as more farmers try to grow it in poorer locations  . . . . . . . .

Look for SweetTango which is a cross between Honeycrisp and Zestar.

In my research - DO NOT BUY RED DELICIOUS!!

talk about a Frankenstein  apple that. Lets take a good apple and make it better  OOOPS - we ruined it!

I must not make 2 more KCups of coffee because I seem to get no caffeine in my 1st cup.   BUT IT'S FAST!!

  2. Well, gotta way all the options. There are not many socially unacceptable businesses I would say know to but legalized loan sharks are one of them
