This is from the last 3 days

Not many Russians anymore LOL
_________________

Had an issue while golfing at The Oaks Wednesday night in league. The ranger REALLY pissed off our foursome and sort of ruined our rounds. I have been beat up a few times because I will not back down to bullies - dealt with that all the way through school and I WON'T TAKE IT ANYMORE.

Well - I gave the owner of The Oaks/Kestrel Ridge an earfull with a few obscenities and they agreed with our complaint. It's all good now but have you ever tried golfing when you are LIVID and want to beat up somebody? LOL ( drives went far).

It's all been ironed out. It had to do with 1 person in carts. There are 4 or 5 of us with bad knees or just old. We don't know who will be in our foursome from week to week so we can't really plan on WHO to share carts with. WELL we were SCREAMED at for only have 1 player in a cart and what REALLY ticked me off was when I asked how to fix the GPS and the ranger said I DON'T CARE!

AGAIN - it's all good now - maybe HE was having a bad day and wanted to share! The owners of the Oaks and Kestrel Ridge are doing a MAGNIFICANT job on both course truly.

The old owner of Kestrel was a slum lord who did nothing. Now Kestrel is getting a VERY good reputation.

BTW - Kestrel Ridge has a GREAT Patty Melt and really good cod with outside seating and music on Friday nights!!

-----------------

We watched Ted Lasso and then watched Season 1 of Return to Wrexham. I was NEVER a soccer fan - ZIP ZERO - but after watching these two shows I see it's NOT just 20 people chasing a ball - there is actually strategy for every position and every zone on the pitch (field). It's more like chess actually.

Check out Season 2 trailer

You might say - I still have no clue about this truly beautiful sport - watch this vid before making a decision

It's opening day in the Premier League today - first game at 2:00 DJ and I will be in front of the TV!!

BTW - "SOCCER" is NOT an American word - it's an English word for Association Football!!

In the 1880s there was Rugby Football (rugby) and Association Football (called Assoccer, which was shortened to soccer ) But when Rugby dropped "football" Assoccer became just "Football". But when America combined rugby and assoccer they called it "football" and now Assoccer became soccer.

---------------------------------

OK - mow the lawn day!! Its a fun easy read with a TON of history and references if you want more information. I am totally impressed even though I hate to admit it (he IS my brother so . . . ). I'm not a huge fiction reader typically and especially westerns but I do live historically accurate "fiction" and I gotta say - I read the prolog and first 3 chapters and LITERALLY look forward every day for a few more chapters.

He even has a trailer from the book. AND there is even a money saving thing going on - or at least a logistical burger thing we over came.

Since hamburger now comes in 1.2lb packages we always had that extra 0.2 left over when we needed 1 lb. FIXED!!!!

OK - you buy 1.2 lbs of burger - instead of trying to get 4 Qtr. pound patties do this. Roll the burger into small 2 oz (1/8 lb) balls. You will need two balls per burger and left over balls go into the freezer for anything you need a small amount of burger for - OR one more smash burger.

Get all prep work ready BEFORE you cook. Onions, cheese (American is a MUST, seriously American is the BEST for burgers). Once the burgers go one its REALLY REALLY fast

Then with a small pan wrap aluminum foil on the bottom. I've lost 18 pounds (172 - 154) my knee feels great and I'm healthy and wise (the wealthy is still in flux with this stock market).

this summer we saw 3 amazing concerts (Nightwish, Roger Waters and Ghost) with the last one GHOST I believe was the best concert I have ever seen in my life. Seriously the most polite and happy crowd I have ever ever seen. For any of you that watch Stranger Things here is Mary on the Cross (not what you think it's about LOL).

I have a project from all my photos at the concert. How does it work?

<span style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px;">I have a power rating that picks games but as we all know winning and losing games is meaningless. Who cares what your record is, 100% meaningless. It's $$ that counts right?

<span style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px;">So I added in the line WITH my power rating. What I found last year is there are times my power rating PLUS the line was right on and those were the games I picked and it seemed to work (see graph).

<span style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px;">This the summer I looked at ALL the games that the system DIDN'T pick. WOW, if I would have bet the OTHER side on those games I might have done even better!!

<span style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px;">That's the plan this year - HOWEVER - this causes a problem . . . SO SO MANY GAMES!! Could I be betting EVERY GAME? If my ROI is 10% with 1200 games . . . is that a bad thing?

<span style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px;">My goal is always 5% ROI which is what the pros strive for which would be 60 units and a LOT of wagers.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px;">This will start as a trickle but by the middle of November it should be balls to the wall wagers. I was able to FINALLY contact a diabetes nutritionist with my first face to face still a couple months away - yea - seriously!

They sent me some info which was inline with what I was thinking. So! with this new found sketchy info I hooked up with a diabetes page on Facebook that seemed to have every country in the world.

EVERYBODY has the same issue world wide. A complete lack of information from the Doctors who LITERALLY seem clueless! People world wide are begging for info from the health care providers about diabetes but they tell you next to nothing.

ANYWAY - that is my health care rant.

WHAT I'm doing seems to be working. In 2 months I've lost 10 pounds in a slow steady manner from 172 to 162. My moving average of my fasting blood sugar continues to drop

And with my lose of 10 pounds my knee feels GREAT!! WHO KNEW LOL
I average 114 carbs a day with 28 of those fiber. Still trying to boost fiber. Protein intake is 101 grams.

The BIG thing is carbs. I stopped all beer drinking (really bad for you) and replaced beer with vodka (the cure for diabetes?). I have not had a soft drink for 2 months EXCEPT Ginger beer for Moscow Mules. White bread is gone replaced with YUCK whole wheat buns for burgers and so forth and I found "keto-like" "white" bread that that has 9g of carbs but all 9 are fiber per slice and speaking of Keto.

100% of ANYTHING with "keto" on the label SUCKS Keto friendly is OK - straight Keto SUCKS

A friend turned me on to Kahava which for the time being I'm drinking instead of Ensure Max Protean. WHY you ask?

I NEED MORE FOOD!! I work out and my fitbet says I need 2300 calories and I'm only hungry for 1400 calories a day.

Along the way I have found hacks for white rice. Add Coconut oil to white rice while cooking. Let it stand over night. The oil converts the starch into protean, reheat it and you have safe white rice. No spikes.

Pasta? Whole wheat pasta tastes exactly the same as normal white pasta. Whole wheat buns on subs?" Just get a spicy sub, you won't even notice the wholewheat flavor.

Breakfast are easy - eggs are GREAT. Instead of bacon I have thin thin slices of pork chops. Today I had oatmeal and added cinnamon (no sugar) and then added Kashi Cinnamon Crunch, It's fine, adds texture and taste.

Supper has been tough as I'm normally the cook and HATE 95% of all veggies and fruit? SIGH - a ton of sugar in fruit but if you have a tsp of Natural peanut butter that smooths down any spikes. Get peanut butter with the oil floating on top.

Bananas are death fruit LOL a LOT of sugar in a banana but the Glycemic LOAD is not bad.

GI and GL is something you need to look into. GI is how much sugar something has it in. GL is how much sugar you actually consume. For instance Potato chips (potatoes are bad) Not real bad per chip but you eat a LOT of them.

Popcorn Horrible but you can't eat 2 gallons.

Here is the thing though - You have to take care of your brain. I can have a Mooya Burger (like Five Guys but better, tasting) with a small amount of fries every so often - it's not going to kill you and you really don't want to be in food prison.

I can have pizza - just not a whole half of a 14 inch pizza (like the old days). Dark Chocolate (over 72) is GREAT for you if you have 1 square a day.

What I have found is that after a month of not having sugar snacks(Cheetos, Fritos and so forth) I don't crave them at all. I see a donut and want one but I don't crave. I have a LOT of nuts and peanuts (actually those are beans).

I'm preparing to make home made pork and beans as Bushs are just pure sugar) with the sweetener pure maple syrup and Molasses.

SO - the journey continues

I feel the main problem is that people think they have to make major changes - NO - make healthy changes with more plant based food and smaller portions. Europeans visit America are are SHOCKED how much sugar we put in EVERYTHING. Slow and steady - you are not going to fix or CONTRIL diabetes over night.

OH - I'm taking Metformin - zero issues besides being horny all the time but I think that was there before hand (too much info?) From a number of articles from schools of science Metformin was discovered 100 years ago and may actually slow aging and increase life expectancy and is on WHOs List of Essential Medicines.

Diabetes lite has really tweaked my interest. 90 million American have diabetes but don't know it or don't want to know.

Yea - who wants to live long anyway right?

Rodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01932711236857676894noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5117455539289623436.post-73419204667806901372022-08-02T15:35:00.004-05:002022-08-02T15:52:44.382-05:00 I'm alive and well

SO - Where was I in my story LOL

OK - I'm not dead yet. So I cut out b b b b b b beer (beer is HORRIBLE with so much sugar - my blood REALLY spikes) and white bread and snacks and replaced snacks with nuts and peanuts (which are actually beans) and started on metformin which I have zero issues with (Harvard School of Medicine in a study says it's near a super drug with so many awesome things it can do - better sex, longer life then people NOT taking it even if they do not have diabetes and a ton of heart things and yada yada. . . . anyway) I seem to be getting that "under control" without too much effort (My fasting level is in the 131 range after 4 weeks - my AIC was 7.2% if you MUST know).

THEN last week we went to a Roger Waters concert. I can now say I saw the FIRST tour of Pink Floyd in the States (the Dark Side tour) and the LAST tour 49 years later

Another video

Meanwhile we FINALLY have our first paperwork done for building a cabin at the tip of Door County right there on the 3rd curve on the left

Access and tree clearing this year and HOPEFULLY building next year.

Next up are camping trips #2 and #3 and right after that the Ghost concert.

BTW - the people who attend Ghost concerts are not like any band fans I have ever come across. GHOST 101
WELL - I see I had a post I never published about the Nightwish Concert - I'll save that for later.

We took the pop up to the tip of Door County with trepidation. The forecast was cool with a TON of rain Wednesday but off we went.

We got to The Wagon Trail which was pretty empty of campers and they gave us a primo spot. I backed down the entrance but it opened up to more campers seasonal campers at the bottom so we decided on another camp site near the top.

Ate pizza at The Wild Tomato Monday night and cooked breakfast Tuesday morning at the site. Got cool but we put the BIG furnace on the pop up on for 10 minutes and then used the tiny electric heater for the night. It got down to 38 but inside in was a convey 62.

Wednesday at noon the rain started and for 19 straight hours it was moderate to heavy rain. We drove around and took photos

And this is near our property

So after we tired of driving we went back to camp and hunkered down. It was actually sort of magical. Loud rain on the pop up - we were warm, had food and alcohol and lots of music we could play rather loud.

The rain was a constant 75 decibels so we partied all night to music. At 7 in the morning the rain finally stopped. Rivers of water everywhere. My brother who was near us had a river going through their fire pit and our original campsite was all water.

We cleaned things up and about 1:00 went to Mink River Basin for some food. The sun came out and it was awesome on the patio. A group was being seated right before us and we sat down and were looking at the menu (GREAT burgers) and wait. . . that guy sitting 10 feet from me looks just like Tony Shaloub.

Can't be - we'll wait until he talks . . WHAT? he sounds exactly like Tony Shaloub. IT IS Tony Shaloub. We sit there with mouths open and they are talking about a new house they build right near our property . . .somewhere. Not that we were listening.

Not wanting to be a fan boy or girl we were good . . for the most part.

They all got up to leave after they ate and talked and I popped up and went over to their table and apologized for interrupting and said "Tony, I just want to say I'm so happy you chose acting as a profession" and he said as he would . . . " I really had no choice" and everybody laughed.

But it gets worse. As they were actually leaving DJ says "Tony I love you". and he turns and says "I love you too" and we all laughed again.

THEN - his sister (one of 8) starts petting Gus and is talking to DJ about dogs and how she also has a golden doodle and yada yada. I tell ya - a dog is a reason for people to talk to each other.

SO SO many people pet Gus and talk about missing their dog while on vacation and Gus is an amazing good traveler. He knows English better then I do I believe. I'm always amazed how he follows directions. Amazing.

So we get back and it seems our NEW favorite band Ghost is coming to Green Bay in September - WEIRD. AND . . . we got Special VIP tickets WHOO HOO.

below is the story of Ghost - it's pretty interesting

<span style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px; white-space: pre-wrap;">weaving together ’60s psychedelia, ’70s doom, and ’80s New Wave of British Heavy Metal

https://youtu.be/K5Lp-yVt19M

Surprisingly accessible metal and pop-driven hard rock, Swedish outfit Ghost deliver tongue-in-cheek sonic sermons centered on horror imagery, the occult, and occasionally Satanic themes.<div class="cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px; margin: 0.5em 0px 0px; overflow-wrap: break-word; white-space: pre-wrap;">
Members of the band originally maintained a strict vow of anonymity, both on record and on-stage, obscuring themselves with cloaks and heavy makeup.

Ghost is fronted by lead singer Tobias Forge, first known only as Papa Emeritus, whose anti-Pope appearance was recognizable with skull-faced makeup, cardinal robes, miter, and thurible. Subsequent incarnations of this alter ego appeared with each album, as Forge changed from Emeritus II and III into Cardinal Copia for 2018′s Prequelle .

<div class="cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px; margin: 0.5em 0px 0px; overflow-wrap: break-word; white-space: pre-wrap;">
Formed in 2008 in Linköping, Ghost began playing underground shows and sharpening their sound. Given their occult ritual-styled performances, their popularity with metal fans in their home country flourished. In 2010, they issued a three-track demo, followed by the single “Elizabeth,” and both quickly sold out. Their debut album, Opus Eponymous, on Rise Above Ltd., defied expectations with a surprisingly welcoming melodic sound, weaving together ’60s psychedelia, ’70s doom, and ’80s New Wave of British Heavy Metal, and their reputation spread.

<div class="cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px; margin: 0.5em 0px 0px; overflow-wrap: break-word; white-space: pre-wrap;">
They took to the road, touring internationally. For a short while, they were urged to take the Ghost B.C. moniker in the U.S. to disambiguate themselves. Though it was a tad confusing, it didn’t hurt their reputation for wildly theatrical performances, and their identities remained cloaked in mystery. (Ghost eventually reverted to their name without the “B.C.” suffix in late 2015.)

<div class="cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px; margin: 0.5em 0px 0px; overflow-wrap: break-word; white-space: pre-wrap;">
After a wait of over two years, Ghost issued the single “Secular Haze,” followed by their sophomore album, Infestissumam, in January 2013, and the band debuted Papa Emeritus II. Infestissumam caused plenty of controversy during the recording process. Begun in Nashville, its Satanic themes caused it to be boycotted by virtually every backing chorus — an important aspect of the album. These vocals had to be recorded in Hollywood. The critical and fan acclaim was nearly universal, however, and the release increased their profile across the globe and won them many fans who didn’t necessarily claim heavy metal as a favorite style.

<div class="cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px; margin: 0.5em 0px 0px; overflow-wrap: break-word; white-space: pre-wrap;">
The album debuted on some charts at number one. Later in the year, they released a covers EP, If You Have Ghost , produced by Dave Grohl . A festival tour followed in 2014, including appearances at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Rock on the Range. The band re-entered the studio later that year. In May of 2015 it was announced that Papa Emeritus II had been fired and was succeeded by his younger brother (by three months), Papa Emeritus III, adding to the band’s shtick.

<div class="cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px; margin: 0.5em 0px 0px; overflow-wrap: break-word; white-space: pre-wrap;">
A new single, “Cirice,” was issued in May of 2015, followed in August by their third album, Meliora, on Loma Vista Recordings. It was produced by pop heavy-hitter Klas Åhlund (Katy Perry , Usher , Kesha , Madonna ) and mixed by Andy Wallace. Album single “Cirice” scored a Grammy for Best Metal Performance in 2016, months before a deluxe reissue added two new songs and a handful of covers, including one of the Eurythmics ’ “Missionary Man.” Those bonuses were also released as a separate EP, Popestar , which was followed by a tour of the same name.

<div class="cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px; margin: 0.5em 0px 0px; overflow-wrap: break-word; white-space: pre-wrap;">
In 2017, a new crop of legal issues hit the band. Previously, the identities of Ghost’s musicians remained a secret. However, when frontman Tobias Forge was sued by former bandmembers Simon Soderberg, Mauro Rubino, Martin Hjertstedt, and Henrik Palm over royalties, the shadow of anonymity disappeared. After the year-end release of live album Ceremony and Devotion , Forge moved forward with other musicians.

<div class="cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px; margin: 0.5em 0px 0px; overflow-wrap: break-word; white-space: pre-wrap;">
For the next project, Forge introduced a new identity, Cardinal Copia, who became the face of their fourth effort, 2018′s Prequelle , which was produced and recorded by Tom Dalgrin. Unlike previous efforts, this date abandoned the occult and left the Satanic worship kitsch behind, instead focusing on their own brand of sinister arena rock in a deliberate attempt, as Forge explained in an interview, ”…to sound like the best 1970s band you never heard….”

<div class="cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q" style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px; margin: 0.5em 0px 0px; overflow-wrap: break-word; white-space: pre-wrap;">
In addition to sweeping, radio-friendly hard rock swagger, they also employed funk basslines and disco beats, fat horns, and analog synths. Their songs readily referenced themes and tragedies from the Dark Ages of European history, including an anthem about the Bubonic plague. Prequelle debuted in the Top Three of the Billboard 200 upon release, and eventually soared to the number one slot, making it their highest-charting effort to date. 2019 saw the release of Seven Inches of Satanic Panic , a two-song EP/single featuring the fiendish and retro-sounding “Kiss the Go-Goat” and “Mary on a Cross.” ~ Eduardo Rivadavia & Thom Jurek

Rodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01932711236857676894noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5117455539289623436.post-59811778088587691792022-05-01T12:13:00.138-05:002022-05-02T13:09:26.260-05:00GHOST and the Nameless Band of Ghouls
SORRY - we watched a Ghost Concert this weekend and WOW!! This band is on a meteoric rise. Colbert, Kimmel, Grammys, numerous awards and am entire new genre' of music. Newest album 2 million streams in 3 days.

A hyper addictive blend of 70s rock, old school metal, and visually stunning. I think what draws is to the group is the lead is so "normal" and down to earth between songs.

Ghost = (after 11 years the actual human behind Ghost was outed as Tobias Forge - lead singer, also know as Papa Emeritus IV) with The Nameless Gang of Ghouls (nobody knows who they are, never seen their faces) 3 guitars, 2 organists, drummer and 2 back up singers.
TRUTH - I did not take these guys seriously. I heard Hunters Moon and LOVED it. Two weeks later I hear Our Little Sunshine so I looked them up WHAT THE FUCK? But the masked dude was talking and joking with the crowd. Thanking everybody down to the popcorn venders, and he was meaning it. Not scary at all. Now? DJ and I are obsessed . We like EVERY song from the last 3 albums EVERY ONE!!

+++++++++++++

Ghost is one of the hottest and most misunderstand bands on the planet right now. Many people see them and WHAT? WAIT A MINUTE - NOT FOR ME!! TOO MUCH SATAN.

When ACTUALLY - the members of the band are NOTHING like the songs and stage presence they portray. They believe they are like Alice Cooper or KISS or David Bowie, just playing parts in a band.

When the leader Tobias wrote a few songs in 2008 he said this is the heaviest metal song EVER. But a church-like chorus kept popping into his head so he added it and thus - the amazing harmonies of Ghost and choir occurred.

The ONLY reason they all wear masks is because (as they say) nobody would take them seriously without masks. So for 11 years they performed in anonymity. They are normal looking humans that look nothing like rock stars that make fun of religion and and society.

As Tobias (Ghost) said "nobody would believe us guys without the makeup". So he became Papa Emeritus I to hide their common ho hum faces and since has become Papa Emeritus II and III, who was kidnapped on stage (people were PISSED and did not know it was an act) then replaced by Cardinal Copia who later on the tour "died" on stage to become Papa Emeritus IV. Every album has a new "singer".

SO - with a completely successful US tour done and merchandise constantly selling out and the #1 album in America and being on Kimmel they have decided to do another tour in America. Side Note - Colbert was the first to have them live in American TV in 2016.

The below song LITERALLY is one of the most beautiful songs I have heard and was performed on the Grammy7s.

"He Is" is an amazing piece of music. Reading a "what does the song mean" post

The brilliance of this song is soooo underappreciated, it's such an artful parody. The title is "He Is" and it starts with clean guitars playing a simple but sad melody, it actually sounds like a typical Christian worship song. In fact even once the triumphant chorus comes in "He is/He's the shining and the light without whom I cannot see" sounds like a line you'd hear from some white guy with an acoustic guitar with a worship song, but then "And he is/Insurrection, he is spite, he's the thing that makes me be" you realize the song isn't about God, it's about Satan, then the following verses get darker.

Ghost's music, as compared to other metal bands singing about Satan, feel like actual worship music and this song is the ultimate parody of it.

Outside of the base lyrics, I remember at one point hearing Tobias saying this was actually written about a friend and hero of his that committed suicide, but was able to morph it into something that fit into the Ghost umbrella

https://youtu.be/xQm8Ssh4ynQ

people have been starving for a real rock show/performance - here ya go

If you want to be blown away check out this song in concert and see why they are taking America by storm. BLOWN AWAY FLAMES!!!

The thing is between songs Papa Emeritus IV makes jokes and talks to the crowd and is pretty darn funny. For instance, just before a brand new guitar solo he yells out SING ALONG!! Why do I see all Russian tanks with their tops completely blown off.

Fascinating so I go to post it on Facebook and I'm banned for 6 days. WHY?

Because 10 days ago I cut and pasted a quote from the twice impeached woman groping X president Rump - his exact words got me banned for HATE SPEECH! Oh - it's personal now LOL

******************

Anyway - it's a design flaw America has known about for decades with the T-72 tank. All ammo is stored down below so shot from a Javelin blows up all the ammo and the top will explode going 2 stories into the air . American tanks all the ammo is stored in the turret.

********************

Sadly I was posting my MLB system on Facebook and it was doing pretty well (6-2 last night) This new theory has now worked in NBA, NHL and so far MLB. I've cracked the code LOL

Favorite's 36-20 +5.92 units Dogs 19-19 +3.18 units

******************

You think this has been a cold year? remember 1996? DJ and I do. But the devilishly weird 20s style big hair, hard rock, heavy metal, doom metal, pop rock, progressive rock, psychedelic rock band that both DJ and I have fallen in love with.

Little did I know they won a Grammy with best metal performance and right now have the #1 album pretty much world wide. Appeared on Jimmy Kimmel last month and Colbert a few years ago and played to a sold out Fiserv Forum in February.

NOW - DO NOT LOOK AT THEM until you hear one song LOL

"Ghost is easily recognizable owing greatly to its eccentric on-stage presence" YEA!!!

"most spectacular and hook-filled heavy(ish) metal albums in recent memory."

. Kind of like watching a 60s horror movie with modern rock music as the backdrop. If I was a teenager now this band would be my 21st century replacement for KISS from my real teenage years of the 70s. Garish, macabre and probably very loud this is what rock and roll was always meant to be.

Meanwhile the other 7 members know as the Gang of Nameless Ghouls wear face concealing costumes. Actually they are not bad at all. If I had a choice I would rather have a colonoscopy then ANY dental procedure IF - they could take the drinking of a gallon of metallic water out of the equation. AND WHAT A TRIP THAT IS!!!

Seriously though the actual procedure is a piece of cake. In fact it's rather relaxing - no really!! I have never been more comfy. They tuck you in all nice and warm and then you "wake up".

Then the weird part happens. I remember almost nothing from the post op wake up part. DJ says a nurse talked about my tattoos and the doctor shook my hand complimenting on how clean I was and I ate a crap load of crackers and got I dressed . . . NOTHING - don't remember ANY of that. ZIP NADA. DJ says I inhaled 4 pacts of crackers and asked for more juice.

One thing I did learn was put a few drops of concentrated lemon juice on my tongue and press it to the top of my mouth and then drink the metallic liquid. OR the nurse said she has a life savor in her mouth.

I tell ya though - the body is AMAZING. The pressure of a firehose cannot compete with the pressure of that last half of gallon coming out LOL TOO MUCH?

*************

Voted Tuesday and the Columbus Storm Water Utility which would save money for citizens was voted down. I guess they WANT to pay for church's and big box stores storm water issues in property taxes which will cost 2% more rather then paying a little bit per month.

Always good to borrow as opposed to paying a smaller amount now. Many republicans LOVE to borrow hoping somebody else will pay their dues down the road. Bunch of freeloading hypocrites that didn't vote for it. I remember when they were the financially smart ones. I know a good number of NON "freeloading hypocrites", REAL Republicans that did vote for it.

Oddly the ones that ACTUALLY understand how things work, the ones that loved Columbus enough to run for office, EVEN the right wing knew the Storm Water Utility was financially smart.

BUT NOOOOOO. $3 a month is way too much.

*****************

In the last 22 days accumulation rain fall in Columbus

Farmers do NOT want rain now - drought is better in spring. SHOCKING!!!

We watched their #1 song (which is now constantly in my head) on your tube and our mouths dropped open and the first thing DJ says . . . NO NO NO (you will see why in a bit).

Beast in Black toured with Nightwish 2.5 years ago when they were last on tour and while the first song we ever SAW was SHOCKING they have a lot of good songs. But here is the thing.

Pandora turned me on to a group called Battle Beast who have a number of good rockin song with a female lead. Typical of Dutch bands. Knowing that Nightwish music is classified as
Symphonic metal, power metal, folk metal, gothic metal what was Beast in Black classified as, well Heavy metal, power metal, arena rock.

Arena Rock? What is that? "It's a style of rock music that originated in the mid-1970s. As hard rock bands and those playing a softer yet strident kind of pop rock became increasingly popular, groups began creating material inherently designed for large audiences, and arena rock developed from their use of more commercially oriented and radio-friendly sounds".

Nightwish is NOT radio friendly as most "songs" are 10 minute plus (like most of Metallica's REAL music). Beast in Black? Totally Arena Rock.

SO! back to Battle Beast - I was looking into Battle Beast, who are these guys, I see that this female artis is ACTUALLY Yannis Papadopoulos who quit and went to Beast in Black AHHH HAAA!

Without further ado And don't be shocked. It's a small club, not the normal 50,000-80,000 Nightwish typically play in front of. They have a good number of "normal" songs but that one is a bit disconcerting.

BTW - Nightwish's first concert in 2.5 years is later this month in front of a sold out 65,000 in Europe. For us? 5,000 in Chicago with VIP seats.

OH - another genre' Cock Rock a genre of rock music that emphasizes an aggressive form of male sexuality. Radiation is a concern around Chernobyl? IT IS NOW!!! & Storm Water Utility
So here I was sitting on my ass because of COVID for 2 years slowly getting morbidly obese and I have a new Dr who says I need a blood test and low and behold I MIGHT have diabetes with a 5.5 something or other.

So I start working out 3-4 times a week (actually lifting weights and aerobatics for 20 minutes and being serious) and increasing my carrot intake infinite amount (from zero to many) and loving my canned spinach which is actually much better for you the fresh spinach and even having wheat buns from time to time on sandwich's and snacking on chick peas snacks and a ton of protean with beans.

I'm down to 170 and feeling good . . . . BUT NOOOOOOOO!!

OH Mr. Melotte - you have not had a colonoscopy for 7 years IT . . . IS. . . TIME!

Actually they are not as bad as they used to be. No drinking a gallon of liquid like the old days. ANYWAY - NOW after eating healthy for 6 months I need to go on a diet of donuts and banana cream pie for 3 days. No corn, popcorn, seeds, nuts vegetables, beans, fruits with skins, no whole grain bread or high fiber cereal.

What else is there . . . DONUTS!

****************

VOTE Tuesday - one thing Columbus is voting on is a Storm Water Utility which MANY towns have. I am 100% for it as opposed to borrowing and having it cost 2-3% more in the long run.

From a good friend
The storm water utility is a more fair way to assess the costs of storm water management.

It applies responsibility for these costs to properties based upon how much runoff they contribute. By raising funds only through property taxes, you aren't generating funds from nonprofit or properties that are tax-exempt. Also properties with large properties with greater amounts of rooftop and parking lot will be assess their share more fairly.

Theoretically by taking those costs off the tax levy it gives the city ability to either reduce the levy or use funding that was budgeted for storm water toward other needs...like roads.

Vote YES for the Storm Water Utility.

**********************

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas - ACTUALLY the last snowfall on average is the 2nd week of April but this year March has sucked.

********************

Speaking of sucking - The Grammys. No issues besides using an alley ball and ally shows and no writes band. It's been at least 15 years since I picked up a bowling ball. I THINK I used a 14 pound ball named MARY!

It was a birthday party with Josh, Jenny and the kids, Caydence Sydney and Bailey who all used that ramp thing. The funny part (besides me have 10 after 2 frames) was Caydence (who has down syndrome) got a spare and as Sydney said - let out a "demonic SCREAM" which terrorized the entire bowling ally.

And since when do you have to make reservations at a bowling ally.

It took a game to get any sort of rhythm but it started coming back by the time I could no longer grip the ball. But my knee held up fantastically although I could not grip a pen that night LOL

****************

MEANWHILE2 - the downtown of Columbus is for sale it seems. Soon 4 antique stores will be for sale with one having an offer and the red corner STAR building is for sale and MIGHT have an offer. J&J tour the place. There is a 3rd floor but no ACTUAL floor and a supporting beam that holds up walls has been cut in half so . . no support anymore.

The historical museum will have a new tenet it looks like

Society Boutique - good luck to them (that sound sarcastic but it's not). In fact all sorts of awesome places are opening - the Tea Time Wine Bar & Bakery in the old Fireman's Tap is open and across the street is the Good Vibes Cafe and Candy with sandwich's you can take across the street.

*****************

Our house we are TRYING to build at the very tip of door county came in with an estimate about $100k to much so . . . . . .

******************

Had issues with the weather station but that is all fixed as of this morning. A bar is gone an antique store is for sale, the ugly should be condemned "star" building is for sale and so forth.

One of those COULD be a home for my surpluses of new and old artwork. We shall see.

MEANWHILE we had a meeting with our financial advisors about how to finance a log home up dar at the tip of Door County - right next to a good friend of mine from High School Steve Seybold.

Of course we waited until Covid was in the rear view mirror and supply chain issues were fixed before we started to move forward . . .to soon? sigh! And of course a war happens.

We laughed last fall at meetings when builders talked about people who were in the middle of building when Covid hit and prices for EVERYTHING quadrupled.

I always liked talking to REAL financial people and their take on things.

1. Bonds have sucked for 6 months and will continue to suck for a while as interest rates go up.

2. Stocks have sucked because of the fear of the unknown with wars and supply chain issues but not because companies are losing money. A few days ago they said we SHOULD be near the bottom of this "correction" unless Russia hits NATO and the shit hits the fan.

The issue they are most concerned with is the recession that always happens when the fed start to slow down the economy. We are at Full Employment at the moment and people have not stopped spending money even while they complain about high prices. The fed will raise interest rates one tick too far and a couple years later - recession.

They predict in the next 5 years American Stocks will perform worse (not the +30% in the last year), International stocks will perform better and bonds will perform better then the last year.

Our mix is 40% bonds 40% stocks 15% international stocks and 5% cash if you are wondering. We have been doing half of what the DOW does DOW up 2% we are up 1% DOW down 2% we are down 1%.

++++

MEANWHILE

Gus is going to go to his first Brewer game Bark in the Park June 7th

+++
Burgers - I've made Plaza sauce and spicy cheese sauce for burgers and now want to try <span style="background-color: white; color: #050505; font-family: "Segoe UI Historic", "Segoe UI", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 16.875px; white-space: pre-wrap;">tzatziki sauce. Not REALLY knowing what it tastes like except for the one time I had a gyro I would rather buy it but it seems to not be something grocery stores stock.

Pray for me. I hope I don't die from bad tzatziki.

++

WEATHER - another snooze More rain. It WILL snow but it will be more like slush.

My weather station is having issues "Error Communicating through USB" WTF! tried everything. this USB has a weird connection to the actual station. i SUPPOSE I could but a new USB but . . . .

Nuff said at the moment 11-2 in NBA the last 4 days NHL system is a break even system but that is played 100% favorites. It was an experiment. NBA is fign fine at 9.3% ROI with 260 wagers.

Cheers
Rodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01932711236857676894noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5117455539289623436.post-35251241881536304022022-03-11T09:13:00.002-06:002022-03-11T09:13:23.402-06:00Baseball is back, Adventurefuls = horrible, Tactics in the Ukraine
Adventurefuls Girl Scout cookies are the worst sweet cookie I have ever tasted

it's like they put a little of EVERY cookie into one cookie. Who green lighted this cookie.

++++++

I watch a freakish amount of news in a day and most of it horrifying and disgusting. But the main news I saw yesterday is

BASEBALL IS BACK!!! AND ALL 162 GAMES

Opening Day April 7th. Universal DH which I'm not fond of but . . . the National League was the ONLY league in the entire world that did NOT had a DH so . . . .

No real shifting which is sort of meaningless and only because fans complained. The shift for Right handed Batters was a wash and statistically will add one hit a week for each team. There will also be less walks and less strikeouts for right handed batters. Left Handed power hitters will get a boost (Yelich) as they are the ones that were hurt the most with shifts.

The shorter spring training will make teams act fast on getting their team together in a rush rush fashion with no expanded rosters. There is an expanded lottery for the bottom 6 teams and an expanded 12 team playoffs.

The bases will be slightly larger (an injury thing). The schedule will be balanced and play every team in MLB. yes we can finally see the Miami Marlins.

MEANWHITE there is a war going on. I don't like war and especially when WE didn't start it but it fascinates me being a WWII buff.

What the news is not covering is tactically HOW the Ukrainians are slowing the Russian hoard.

So far the Russians have lost 465 pieces of heavy vehicles (tanks, armored fighting vehicles, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers) while the Ukrainians 138. This is on par with the normal numbers of an invading army losing 3 times the equipment of the defending army IF both sides are evenly matched.

SADLY - Russia has a LOT more tanks then Ukraine (9700 to 2100). 15% of the Russian vehicles have been abandoned do to stuck in mud and maintenance issues (more on that to come)

But what is the tactical strategy of Ukraine?

When the invasion started Ukraine went after the lead tanks to slow down columns. Once the columns were slowed they went after the command and control vehicles (two of the to generals were killed) and the engineering units who maintain vehicles.

In the air the Russians have lose 11 migs, 11 helicopters and 2 drones** while Ukraine has lost 8 aircraft and 3 drones.

** one drone was LITERALLY hit by an old woman throwing a container of pickled tomatoes at it.

Both sides have ample surface to air missiles for shooting aircraft. and the Russians have cruise missiles and a shitload of artillery.

Russians Navy has not suffered any losses (contrary to popular belief). I believe the Russians can capture but not hold for very long any land. The WORST thing Russia could do would be to kill Zelensky who would become a martyr.

******

Nuff said - just checking in

Rodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01932711236857676894noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5117455539289623436.post-84765573011861632622022-03-07T10:17:00.002-06:002022-03-07T10:17:24.863-06:00NEW computer - LOVIN WIN11
OK then - what a weekend - start with a new HUGE computer (like size . . and I suppose everything else) and the headaches that goes with it. Not real bad but fear of the unknown and all that. Which included cleaning my room. AAAAGH I'm LOVING WIN11 though.

Then after going to Club 60 for perch we came home and listen to a concert. Last year that went to less then 10%. Just busy in the morning with a Sports handicapping blog and by the time I'm done doing that I have to go work out because I have assumed DIABETES in my blood :-) I think the number was 5.4? So now I workout 3-4 times a week, eat lots of beans and carrots and nuts and canned spinach and a crap load of protein and actually have showing muscles (well for an old guy) and my knee feels 90%. I might even try walking for golf this year as a sub.

After working out at Absolute Fitness where I think I'm the YOUNG guy there I get home, I eat a good breakfast and fall asleep LOL

I normally wrote in the morning but working on spreadsheets took all that time. ANYWAY - now I'm writing to blow off some energy from sitting at Honda for a few hours (I thought I could get a deal - no) .

Last Sunday DJ is going to babysit and I get a call - flat tire at Walgreens. So I take AWOOO and we switch cars and figure I'll limp across the street to Kwik Trip and get air and deal with that after Daytona (which I missed last year).

I get there and YUP flat. DJ takes off and I drive across the street to get air but something ain't right, clunk clunk clunk.

I pull up and get the air hose out and I look at the tire.

WTF?

WELL - that's not good - no air is going in this tire. I call AAA since we pay for it and an hour later the dude shows up and we talk about the Daytona and I make a comment that maybe he could put the new tire on as fast as Daytona.

LITERALLY it took less than a minute - SERIOUSLY! Slide the auto jack under the car, push the button, car raises, Zing zing zing zing zing bolts off - tire off, spare on, Zing zing zing zing zing - take jack out - done OMG!!

Then we're look at the metal dog bone in the tire and he says WHAT IS THAT????

He grabs a wrench and tugs and tugs

Any clue???

Tire cannot be repaired so $300 later - new tire.

MEANWHILE - The Russians have invaded The Ukraine and from a few news articles I just read they are failing - it SEEMS the Ukrainians are fighting back WHO KNEW! Their Air Force is still intact and the deep deep intelligence we have it seems the first and second day objectives have not been met.

Seems that while X-President woman groper loved Russian intelligence over America's - OURS is pretty damn good. They knew how much blood was in their blood banks Putin delivered? We know a LOT of what is going on it seems.

It is SO nice to have an actual, competent President rather then one that will hide in a bunker and spew incomprehensible propaganda while stroking his Putin. It's nice to have a sane guy. And BTW - remember Clinton? I don't care what you think - she has been right on just about everything.

As a coincidence - I'm reading a series of books about the French Resistance. Fascinating. We all know what it was but HOW did it come to be. Something that organized is astonishing. I think about the Ukraine as I read it.

The movie The French Connection. Well the bad guys that the French Police turned their backs on were part of that resistance.

I did finish Dune. WELL - I was a little disappointed. Nice world building but that book SHOULD have been 3 books with more detail. I don't want to say it was "light" but it felt incomplete and rushed.

The Resistance series starts with "After Dunkirk".

OK - I just wanted to say I LIVE!!

NUFF said - I have a Free Agent Draft to look into on my Strat-o-matic team

Cheers

Rodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01932711236857676894noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5117455539289623436.post-40438702120995780782022-01-20T09:53:00.023-06:002022-01-20T10:16:18.745-06:00OK then - some extra time for a blog today
OK - taking a day off of working out. Couple small pains I want to let calm down a tad - nothing major.

and yea - as soon as I start posting plays on a blog (Grinders Action System) I have 2 small losing days - posting plays on facebook in the Sports Handicapping Forum I'm doing great. In those 14 days Im up 28 units. BUT O M G - If you want to see how Las Vegas was built, 95% of the people posting are clueless SERIOUSLY!

One guy had a 6 "team" parlay on who would make the first basket in each of 6 games in the NBA. REALLY? another guy was complaining because he had a 6 team parlay which included a 18 point teaser (eighteen POINTS) on the Patriots (who lost by 30).

*********************

So anyway - a hospital went bankrupt in Philadelphia - the problem is that one patient had a nuclear powered pacemaker and it is powered with plutonium -238. The PROBLEM is someone has to keep track of that plutonium -238 when the time comes to . . . dispose of it. It's a risk to health AND national Security LOL

+++

Want to make better burgers? when you put salt and pepper on the burger before cooking put a sprinkling of Baking Soda and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. 1/4 teaspoon per 1lb of burger. It helps brown the burger and keeps the moisture inside and creates a GREAT flavor. What it does chemically is alkalizes the meat's surface, making it harder for the proteins to bond and thereby keeping the meat tenderer when cooked.

++++++++++++++

OH - that whole Halderson murder trial. Because of that I decided to create a new blog with ONLY my system which in 31 days is up 60 units of straight real time wagering.

The Blog is GrindersGAS.blogspot.com GAS is Grinders Action System a very aggressive money line system that RARELY loses. This is the day by day winnings/losings by unit wagered. Remember single bets - no parlays.

SO - if you want to follow along go to GrindersGAS.blogspot.com

***********************

In other news I have found the best fish fry in the area - Club 60. Balderdash, Andy and Network stopped there a decade ago coming back from some golf outing - they changed owners and we were totally impressed. GREAT broiled cod, loaded baked potato, onion soup, small but good salad bar, drinks heaping with alcohol in a Supper Club atmosphere. Not beautiful but very functional. The wait staff was perfect and the clientele were all friendly happy.

It's our go to place every other Friday now with Tequilas in Columbus the other Fridays.

That is all I have to say at the moment - all is well here - nobody in the HOUSE as Covid but family members and their friends all have it - they are fine. Like a cold - all boosted. No need for hospitals like the un vaxed (remember 92% in hospitals are on vaxed! This truly is a pandemic of the un vaxed for the most part.

GO PACK!!
Rodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01932711236857676894noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5117455539289623436.post-14851574650241547882022-01-07T10:13:00.001-06:002022-01-07T10:13:31.303-06:00Tears - the KID is alright! And wager system (GAS) part deux
When I left you last Caydance had a successful not successful first basketball game. As I mentioned she LOVES basketball but come on, she is 4 foot something and the other girls tower over her and the Down syndrome thing.

A recap - her first game was OK but the buzzer and crowd noise REALLY got to her and by half time she was cowering on the bench holding her ears. SO SO SAD. When she was talking to DJ we could tell she was VERY disappointed with herself even though her dream of playing on the team had happened. She did not make the entire game.

Last night was game #2 and she had noise canceling headphones. It was one of those events that made her mom and all around cry happy tears.

She got into the game and I assume was fouled. She made 1 of the free throws and the crowd LITERALLY went wild. As the teams ran to the other side of the court she "ran" heel toe heel toe heel toe and as she neared mid court the ref gave her a high (actually a low) five and teammates surrounded here celebrating.

LET THE TEARS FLOW!!

BUT WAIT - at halftime Caydence and her handler? (for lack of a better term) gave a performance to the cheering crowd shooting baskets. AND THE CROWD WENT WILD AS CAYDANCE TOOK THE STAGE (sorry - we watched a performance of TOMMY the other night).

Jenny, the super mom, has to be so so proud! I know the grandparents are proud of BOTH of them.

*******************

and just a quick thing on my system now named

Grinders Aggressor System (GAS)

For the 2nd time this week the system had 13 wagers - GULP THIRTEEN?

Well for the 2nd time it went 11-2

Here is the running total for each of the 3 systems - I gotta believe this is the best 3 weeks of wagering in my life + 37.85 units. All single straight wagers. SO FAR the system seems to be working and it only cost me a trigger finger from the mouse with data entry and a very painful shot in the palm to cure it.

The ONLY issue is the amount of games each day. scary

******

IF you have not watched American Auto on NBC - it is HILARIOUS!

For instance - they created a self driving car - but it seems in tests - it can only see white people.

"So you created a car that hits black people?"

https://youtu.be/zGY8WATrfC8

Cheers

Rodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01932711236857676894noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5117455539289623436.post-48794771012857956892022-01-05T11:21:00.001-06:002022-01-05T11:21:14.247-06:00The Kids are alright - Never been hotter in wagering - system talk
Two different blogs here

Kid #1 Caydence - Everybody knows Caydence my daughters "first" kid was born with Down Syndrome and is now in 7th grade. She LOVES basketball and yea - sort of short for the sport but LOVES it.

She is on the 7th grade basketball team and LOVES it. She had her first game last night that she has been talking about for months.

WELL - something nobody thought about - NOISE - it was all good but the crowd cheering and the constant BUZZER really rattled her to the bone.

I am SO SO proud of her as she made it to half time but the plug had to be pulled for her sanity. "We" were losing 11-2 at the half and that was it for her. Just could not handle the noise

She was a little depressed at herself but will move forward to the next game where she might have those sound canceling headphones on.

I hope people know that kids with Down Syndrome KNOW they are different and just want to fit in.

For me she is a REAL miracle angel. I'm not religious one iota but Caydance? A true miracle. I say this as her dad was just a dude with no real skill besides a fix-it guy (which is a skill in itself). When Caydence was born he had to learn to play doctor to keep her healthy. It clicked!!

NOW? a VERY . . . VERY . . . highly paid traveling ER nurse (a ridiculous amount LOL)

THEN - there is Sydney who is in 5th grade. We thought Syd had autism, never spoke, kept to herself. WELL - yea - she is on the spectrum but now reads 2 levels above her grade. For instance - a few years ago (3rd grade) she watched all the videos on Youtube on Chemical Engineering and wanted to be a chemical engineer for NASA .

Syd has no real physical talent - not a sportsperson - a reader of all books large and small. HOWEVER - we found out she LOVES archery and has joined the Columbus schools archery team - WHO KNEW - She is probably calculating the current barometric pressure and humidity and how it will affect the flight of the arrow.

and then there is my brothers son Chris! Awesome awesome guy - wants to go on Survivor - BUT FIRST - he has to start his new job as an Adventure Tourist Tour Guide in Antarctica. The kind where the adventurers pay $20,000 each for the adventure and Chris is their guide.

We just got a WhatsApp from him saying he made it to Chile and is in quarantine for 10 days before start the journey to Antarctica.

This has been in the works for a few years and then Covid hit - he is trained in Rescue Operations and has been around the world being captured by drug lords in Panama? when he was helping his instructure who got LITERALLY lost in the jungle. Seems him and two students were on a search mission, found a river and was captured by a drug lord operation.

The guy talked his way out if that situation. He was hired to be on call for rescuing adventurists but that went away with Covid.

SO - the kids are alright it seems

********************

Blog #2

I wrote a blog a week ago talking about a new system I worked on for a couple weeks which looked promising. I THINK I got trigger finger from overuse - a LOT of data input!

In the spreadsheets I input data for EVERY single game in the NBA and NHL the moneyline if the team won and -100 if they lost. I took balderdashs advice and ignored point spreads completely. 100% moneyline in the NBA and Moneyline in the NHL plus the Puckline (win by more then one or not lose by more then one)

What I found doing this manually was a little surprising and goes against common schools of thought in wagering.

So in a nutshell for the NBA - I look at a game - Team "A" is predicted to WIN 52% of the time - I look at the moneyline and if it loses it gets -100 units a loss. If it wins it gets what the the moneyline would have won, let's say +0.76 units And so forth for EVERY game

For instance - below. Team A is predicted to win 51% (purple 51) of the time. The moneyline was -128 so the team won and I put in 78 (which if you bet $1 you would win 78 cents) the next game it lose so I put in -100 (not 110 as I bet the other way I lose a straight 100 - I don't bet $100 - just an easy way to keep track). Notice sometimes I win more than 100 as the linemakes believe it was a underdog)

And here it gets interesting. After 500 games the 51% to 58% were winning money no matter what the line was. Just that one area had a ROI of over 20%. If I bet that area I SHOULD win over the long run.

Sometimes they were dogs and sometimes they were big favorites but they were winning enough to cover losses - HOWEVER the big favorites were winning a LOT but they would win so little they could not make up for the losses.

I had a sheet for the opposite side - what about betting the underdogs. Didn't work. There really was no time betting a dog would make you money.

BUT here is the key - quantity is better than quality. Betting a large number of games is better than being a sniper.

As you can see by doing things this way there was an edge to betting close games while betting the big favs was a poor idea - win a little and lose a lot

So then there is hockey where the real money is being made

NHL system special edition - from an unpublished blog

So while I was up in units my big issue was I felt I was flying blind in the NHL - picking games is one thing but since in the NHL every wager is not even close to being equal. Picking a team to win is fine unless that team is a -250 to win and if you bet 1 unit you win 0.42 back. You need to REALLY win a number of times to make up for how devastating losses can be.

And when looking at the puckline you are betting a team will win or lose by more or less than 1. Those lines can be in the -250 and +250 range.

Since I have every pick for every game I knew my ACTUAL win rate for winning games but only for games I decided was a good one - not ALL games. THUS - my 2 new spreadsheets

What I found was rather fascinating when I put ROI into account (Return on Investment).

I did the same in the NHL as I did in the NBA I sorted all of the games where I thought a team would win 51% up to 70% of the time and then looked at the results factoring in the actual moneyline.

In the below graph this is just picking if a team would win. Numbers from 1 to 8 are when my analysis said a team had a <60% chance of winning. Not great in the NHL.

But looking at the graph starting at 9, that hump is 60% to about 68% of the predicted winning percentage (for instance Team A should win 63% of the time) So for every game that was predicted to win 63%, what was the ACTUAL result money wise and not the actual winning % which is actually meaningless.

As you can see teams that are predicted win 75% (18 to 20 on the graph) yea - they win but not enough to off set the losses.

Is this making ANY sense?

I completed this just after balderdash and Mr. Electric got back from LV. I started to put this into practice about 12 days ago with some outstanding results. Check out the last 3 days of my personal chicken scratch notebook

NBA on the left - NHL Moneyline in the middle and NHL pucklike ( a "-" means they must win by more than 1 "+" means don't lose by more then 1 ) on the right with how many units I SHOULD win If I win (top left TOR - I SHOULD win 0.29 units with a victory with a 1.00 bet) >Most people would never take that bet - why bet so much to win so little YET - that area has a 25% ROI. Quantity over quality.

The last 3 days

I think I'm 23-3 for 17.83 units. HOLY CRAP!!

One thing to notice that Elweed HATES - so many wagers - last night we called it sphincter night - SO many dogs on the pucklike - so so many picks. But the more the merrier( is that the right word?). It evens off the fluctiontation.

SO - we shall see how this goes - OBVIOUSLY I'm a little pumped - I could not sleep last night with some late games I had to wake up for to see who won. Could I go 13-0 in one night with 6 dogs? NO Las Vegas Golden Knights let me down.

Eight games tonight (average is about 7) The last 11 days even with Covid wreaking havoc in oth sports has been pretty fun.

Cheers crossing fingers

Rodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01932711236857676894noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5117455539289623436.post-18654097133906705092021-12-29T10:44:00.005-06:002021-12-29T10:45:49.359-06:00Old people ailments - DJs obsession and Social media - Death to 2021
1,161,480 pages read - so so sad

When I was "young" (like the 30s) I felt sad for old people talking about their ailments. How pathetic was their lives when the biggest thing they talked about was their gallbladder issues.

WELL - now that 60 is the new 50 and 67 is the new 52 I have a different look at things. Getting "old" is not so bad actually. I LOVE it. I would not trade this age for anything . . well . . . . unless I could have a great house, money and a perfect wife when I was 30 . . . I would then trade.

BUT - having gone through a misdiagnosed Knee replacement (missed that one because of a bad cold - COVID?) Polymyalgia rheumatica, regular weird daily issues with literally random parts of my body and NOW trigger finger (more on this in the next paragraph) I understand why so called old people talk about ailments.

SO - a couple months ago I awoke from a nights sleep and stretched and as I flexed my hand to the ceiling something odd happened. All my fingers stretched perfectly EXCEPT my middle finger which was stuck clenched. WEIRD.

I straightened it with my other hand and it was all good! HOW ODD! no pain or anything, just stuck.

A month later I was meeting my new doctor and mentioned it. arthritis ? It was like a knuckle would get stuck or out of joint. No pain or anything. She poked around and squeezed my palm. BAM! there is was. Trigger finger

"Trigger finger is a condition in which one of your fingers gets stuck in a bent position. Your finger may bend or straighten with a snap — like a trigger being pulled and released. Trigger finger is also known as stenosing tenosynovitis "

Yesterday I saw a sports specialist and YUP - trigger finger - no known reason, just another random weird thing. The tendon under that finger is swollen and catches on a knuckle. Time for a shot in the palm.

Nothing a little Lidocaine and Betamethasone won't take care of.

<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.88); color: #363636; font-family: Consolas, "Courier New", monospace; font-size: 15.6px; white-space: pre-wrap;">Patient tolerance: patient tolerated the procedure well with no immediate
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.88); color: #363636; font-family: Consolas, "Courier New", monospace; font-size: 15.6px; white-space: pre-wrap;">complications

FUCK that - Patients left leg went straight out in a kicking motion - JESUS CHRIST THAT HURT! sorry sorry I apologize - BTW - scientifically swearing subdues pain by 10% - yea - it's a thing. really!
<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.88); color: #363636; font-family: Consolas, "Courier New", monospace; font-size: 15.6px; white-space: pre-wrap;">no immediate <span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.88); color: #363636; font-family: Consolas, "Courier New", monospace; font-size: 15.6px; white-space: pre-wrap;">complications WHAT???

So I then go to Woodmans looking for a real nice gift of beer, something special. Didn't find any but I did fill the cart with booze. I get the the check out and my right hand is LITERALLY a useless stump (the Lidocaine ). I could not get my wallet out of my back right pocket and I think I pulled a muscle in my left shoulder getting it. Then I had to type in my pin with my left hand which SEEMED to not have the same muscle memory!

SO - all is well after that and day and night move on like the Wheel of Time. no issues. I go to bed like normal after seeing my NHL and NBA teams do well (probably the reason I have trigger finger with MASSIVE amounts of number crunching in the last 2 weeks) and my head hits the pillow. (sorry Balderdash and Mr. Electric - I was still in the middle of crunching).

About 12:40 I'm STILL comfy but sleep is not happening. THEN - I'm playing back in my brain, what did I eat - why am I up. Then I play back what the lowly paid nurse said Yada yada yada zzzz yada yada insomnia yada yada.

AHHH HAAAA!

Well the 100% time tested remedy for insomnia is a banana or raisins OR - 1 aspirin and a gulp of milk. Works 100% of the time

Aspirin thins the blood and helps milk release tryptophan which is what a banana or raisins do (perfect bedtime snacks - I looked it up).

So that is THAT story.

************

Social Media - I have watched a good number of reaction videos on Youtube. I did not know they were a THING - Reactors. They listen to songs they have NEVER heard before. Many are really dumb but when you get vocal coaches or professionals out of their element listening for the very first time and hearing their reactions it's fascinating.

WELL - As most know I have been obsessed with Floor Jensen and Nightwish for years and DJ not so much. UNTIL a few weeks ago. She has gone down the rabbit hole of Floor love like most people that listen to her amazing vocals.

I found a re-reaction video from a vocal coach,

"This Metal Singer Changed Everything" - video by Charlie Calotta a classically trained tenor who one year ago went down the rabbit hole with a reaction video of Ghost Love Score - the most famous symphonic metal song in the world.

He scientifically dissects the song and now it even fascinates me even more. His insights on why people are obsessed with this song and how it was composed and all of its elements and what makes it so . . . . emotional for people that listen to it. Why they go down the said rabbit hole.

What is not mentioned is it was Floors first performance about 3000 people, 79,000 more people actually! NOTE - I did not know Floor has a Masterclass class on vocals.

So if you are really curious how songs are created scientifically - give this re-reaction a listen.

https://youtu.be/63_9QDGPtG8

We have tickets to see Nightwish in Chicago in May - a bucket list concert for me that I have been waiting for fo 10 years.

****

OH - NETFLIX - for something pretty darn funny check out "Death to 2021" a irrelevant look back to 2021. In order to avoid gossip his grandma Ethel May, decided to raise young Jack as her son and June would pretend to be his sister.

He did not find out the truth until both had passed away! BLOWING . . . MY . . . MIND!!

++

There is a muscle that 10% of humans do not have. It's in your arm. Put your palm face up, touch your little finger to your thumb and point your palm up. Stare at the black dot with your right eye and move the image slowly back and forth until the cross vanishes - BAM - you have found the blind spot and your brain fills in with blank - no cross. You can do the same with your right eye covered looking at the cross. SO - playing perfect blackjack on average I should lose about $7.

I went to work and won $4 plus the bonus! Where was this in Las Vegas - when balderdash and Mr. Electric were in LV.
