Concerning the $12,000 fine Oshkosh recieved from Universal.

Here is the deal. The Downtown Oshkosh Business Improvement District used a photo of Johnny Depp in a advertising campaign without permission and were fined $12,000. This is a BIG NO NO and I'm REALLY surprised no one put a stop to this before it happened. WHAT were they thinking, This is why there is a need for model releases.

Of course I received a few worried emails about postcards and so forth but those are way way different. The postcards are not using a person to sell something. Thus, no need for a model release.
================================

I try and try but the words are not really coming for the rest of the blog so I'll do what I can and you will have to bear (bare?) with me.

If you want a low down on some Kurth action that was pretty funny take a look at Vix's blog. I think there was some very close "pee in the pants" moments.

First of all - beer, or Grinders Island.

I had positive reactions for the most part even though I was not REALLY happy with the Lazy Man's Porter. HOWEVER. I am REALLY excited over the next two beers coming out. I mean REALLY happy. The Columbus Carriage Classic Ale is way yummy but needs to carb up a little. The MapleNut Brown Ale (yes, I said MapleNut as one word (a Vix thing)) was very foamy and excellent after 13 days in a bottle. Just a tiny hint of Maple - perfect.

My friend Elweed who has no qualms on berating my beer and telling me ANYTHING and everything that is wrong loved both and said "Rod, these are professional beers".

Other news.

Finally watched the LOST finale' WOW. If you have not watched it yet it's pretty good. Answers ALL the questions. LOL
===========================

I'll leave you with a few photos from vacation and the garden.

This is the Sweet Autumn Clematis. It's 1st year it grew 9 feet. On average once it is established it shout grow about 25 feet a year. You cut it down to 6 inches every spring. It's blooming with thousands of tiny white cross flowers.

The Astors are blooming also with many many honey bees that are more intent on getting pollen then worrying about some guy with a camera. I don't mind these little guys at all as they have one thing on their mind.

POLLEN!

The flight back from Lake Tahoe was a smooth ride and we passed this storm over Western Nebraska. We were at 39,000 feet traveling at mach 0.8.

Photo from Lake Tahoe outflow.

And one more of the house photo (don't worry, I took 160 photos on vaca).

And one more photo of the house we stayed at. No worries - I took 160 photos - you will see ALL OF THEM (insert evil laugh).

that's it. got football work to do.

OH - I'm making a double batch of Victory Malt Doggie Beer Bars today. Put your orders in!

  3. Sorry I had to miss the beer sampling. Dd's MIL passed away in Arizona Thursday afternoon (she and SIL took an emergency flight Wed. afternoon, leaving me in charge of the daycare and her brother in charge of their four kids). Needless to say, by the time Friday afternoon arrived, all I wanted to do was crash. They won't get back until Friday or Saturday of this week either!! Hopefully I can make it to the next time you sample one of your
    "professional" beers!! I'd like to get some of your doggie bars too. Our Alaskan Malamute & Lab will give their honest opinions on them!! They don't cause any loose
