Books and TV

I finished a 3 book trilogy (that seems redundant, a 3 book trilogy) on WWII.  Book One The Rising Tide by Jeff Shaara is America's involvement in the North African Campaign.  Book Two was The Steel Wave which was Normandy and the break out and Book Three was No Less a Victory which was the ending of the war from both sides of view.

Each book followed a group of soldiers and their stories along with the Generals and what they were thinking. The thing is that NOW we know all that happened but the books tell the story of the confusion during that time.

We had broken Enigma but Hitler was so paranoid he refused to use it in the run up to the Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge) and even the highest Generals in the German Army had no clue.

BUT - one of my favorite parts of each book was what happened to all the characters in the book AFTER the war.    How do you go from fending for yourself in freezing weather with people shooting at you every day and witnessing the horrors of what the Germans did to civilians, especially woman, as they retreated.

How do you go back to selling insurance.

Heck - I had problems after a 600 mile bike ride where I would have to fend for myself for a week.

Although one cheery part was what happened to Hermann Wilhelm Göring. He was convicted of war crimes and sentenced to death.   But instead of giving the Allies satisfaction of a hanging be committed suicide with cyanide.

WELL - he was cremated at the Dachau Concentration Camp and his ashes were tossed in the garbage.

DROP THE MIC!

YUP - It's Christmas, time to get out my favorite Christmas movie  - PATTON!!

OH - Russia - 80% of the Russian prisoners that the Allies had liberated from the concentration camps, when  returned to Russia, were executed. It's just their thang I guess.

To be honest Stalin made Hitler look like a boy scout. Stalin killed MUCH more than Hitler.  We just didn't care because it was his country.

****************************

I read that 80% of Covid patients are lacking Vitamin D.  So I start to look up how much vitamin D you need.   It's more then spending a half hour in the sun in Wisconsin in the winter.   A couple hours a day is more like up here.

BUT as I was looking for information I see 80% of Americans are lacking vitamin D which sort of matches the people with Covid.

I got on a vitamin kick about a year ago when I was suppose to have a knee operation January 2.  But that was postponed and I learned about Conformis knees and then was talked out of it when I went to The Prairie Ridge Health Center.

NOW - one year later my knee feels fine. Never really hurts.  I GUESS it's swollen a little but I never notice it.  Glucosamine!  LOVE IT!  I was always in the 1-2 range in pain but a few weeks after I started taking it, nothing, I never get to even a 0.5 pain now.

********************

We started watching Schitts Creek on Netflix.  Yea - late to the game I guess but it's really one of our

Don't worry - it's his daughter - get your mind out of the gutter.

favorite shows.  Then we watch Arrested Development (late to the game again) and then Extras and toss in Young Sheldon.  We finished VEEP so check that one off and we are now watching SEAL TEAM which DJ loves.  It's like an adult A-Team with beautiful people doing macho things!  We love every character.

Now with Amazing Race over we're going to have an issue knowing what day it is.

******************************************

Thank you Ron Johnson for voting down the $1,200 stimulus check.  We don't need no money.  Heck balderdash only got like $5 on the last stimulus check and he's doing fine.    Like the rest of us slowly becoming an alcoholic but . . . . .

*****************************

OH - some ratings came out for Strat-o-matic.  I have Yelich for ONE MORE YEAR (last year) and he was not only REALLY average at the plate but his fielding was also SUPER average.   blah!

***************************

Did I read that Bret Bulimia now coaches UWI and is making more money then our coach?   Cannabis money going towards education?

ALERT ALERT  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints handbook approves of vaping medical cannabis.

WONDER WOMAN 1984 made 34 million over the weekend in China. The expected was 40 million.  I will watched in on HBO MAX  which my LG television does not get.  OH - it has 30 different apps but NOT HBO MAX!   Gotta watch it on my PS4.

COLD IS COMING!  Looks like a HIGH of 12 on Thursday and 14 on Friday!

Live Music is finding a way

DJ's favorite band is Glass Animals who have had a rough couple years.  They are an up and coming  "Psychedelic, pop art, pop trip hop, indie electronic" band.  You have probably heard at least ONE song but did not know it was them.  They were about to go on their first world tour 2 years ago but a band member broke a leg so they canceled the tour for the next year . . . .which would have been THIS year.

We all know what happened to live music in 2020 right?  So they decided to have a live concert on the internet.  Actually 4 live concerts in different time zones.  DJ purchased a ticket and it was outstanding and you could watch the show for 48 hours after.  Brilliant!

WELL - now this morning I see MY favorite band Nightwish the #1 "Symphonic metal, power metal, folk metal, gothic metal" band in the world is having an Evening with Nightwish in March.  This is a band that is on my bucket list concerts.  OMG - I'm a fan boy!  LOL

This is their opening song at Wembley - Typically the opening at a concert is a lesser song and the show ramps up for the next couple hours -  WELL  DJ and I watched this concert and while she was not a real fan she had never seen them in concert.  She was STUNNED!

My brothers son does lighting and special effects for bands and he watched the "The Greatest Show On Earth" concert and was stunned at the energy.

Check this out, the slow opening that prepares you for the real show!  I think this is one of their short songs.

https://youtu.be/7oQ8sNSYXmQ

SO - March 13th is taken.

OH - I asked on Facebook what venue in the world is the most prestigious to play in.  So far the winner is Wembley Arena in London.  Wacken Open Air in Germany is the #2 mention.  Red Rocks is up there.

Red Rocks with Denver in the background - Brit Floyd Concert

And speaking of concerts - we watched one song from a David Gilmore (Pink Floyd) concert and all of a sudden Crosby and Nash were on stage with Gilmore.  We had chills.  Had to buy that video.  BUT WAIT - A Led Zeppelin Concert with Jason Bonham, John Bonham's son on drums - it was AMAZING!  We had to buy that concert video also!

Music is awesome.

So the question is - if you had to lose eyesight or hearing - which would you choose.  We both chose lose the eyesight!  We could not live without music.

Why do you need eyesight when you can make a dinner like this  LOL  Chicken mash potatoes and white milk  - we both laughed and added some color after the photo!

***********************

Watch out for Next Wednesday - Gus the Weather Dog (on facebook - more followers then I have)  will have more info coming but another LOW is which is yet to develop is heading our way. Is that not AMAZING?  something that has not even formed yet and is thousands of miles away when it does can be forecasted to hit Wisconsin.

******************************

Baseball gameplay is a rising source of consternation for fans, players and the league itself, with rising strikeouts making games more pitched defensive battles (read: not a lot of fun hits!) than the more rambunctious days of years gone by. Pitching has gotten significantly better — the average fastball was 93 miles per hour last season, up from 89 mph in 2002 — and the strike zone is about 10 percent larger. The strikeout rate soared from around 15 percent in the early 1990s to just shy of 25 percent as of last season, but the walk rate has remained stable for decades: in 50 years, the average walk rate has been 8.6 percent, and in the last 10 seasons, it was 8.2 percent. This set of facts leads to a relatively simple proposal: if you want fewer strikeouts and more hits, shrink the strike zone.

Operation Warp Speed - 8th Wonder of the world - no really!

If Trump would have explained what Operation Warp Speed ACTUALLY did and THEN did not lie and make up shit he would still be President.

Operation Warp Speed really is something America should be freaking proud of.  It's number one biggest failing was it's name.  The only person in the world that liked then name was Donald while every scientist said it really really hurt the entire operation as it sounded like a cartoon and eroded confidence in the vaccine. (like Space Force)

Once the entire world got the DNA from the Chinese, which was January 6th, it was all hands on deck.  That was the same day Donald said the virus was totally under control while 2 hours before he was in a meeting and was told hundreds of thousands of Americans would die.

The vaccine was actually completed in March and Operation Warp Speed was about rushing the distribution, NOT the vaccine.

The vaccine was the easy part, the distribution was the hard part. They knew in late January that the vaccine would have to be super cold so in early February FED EX and UPS started to re-engineer aircraft and trucks for the massive weight of that much dry ice.

A CEO of another company realized thousands of super high tech freezers would be needed. In early February the fed put in an order for 1/2 BILLION viles.  All up and down the chain since February across America plans were being formed on delivery and distribution. Nobody talked about that.

Nothing in the history of the world had ever been done on this scale basically from scratch.

The vaccine was a wonder in itself with 4 more companies soon to have their version.  And speaking of the trials.  I hear people saying Pfizzer controlled everything , you can't trust them.  Well they did not do the trials.  They had no clue if it worked or not.  OH - in theory it worked but a totally separate company does trials.

They got the call about midnight saying an amazing 90% success rate.  People were a little skeptical but then Moderna got a call, yours is 94% success.  They were HOPING for 70%.

Typically putting out a vaccine is linier.  You do the work, then have three phases of trials and the FDA approves the vaccine and THEN you start to manufacture and then you create all the logistics for distribution.  That last part after the FDA approval normally takes 9 months.

What Operation Warp Speed did was just as they started the Phase One trials, they started EVERYTHING that happens after the FDA approval.  THAT is the Warp Speed part - NOT creating the vaccine - WHO KNEW!

Geez - why didn't Trump just explain this. NO!  he gets antsy and starts talking about injecting bleach in one sentence and then bragging about Operation Warp Speed in the next.  Everything he said made public confidence take a hit.

Now we have 30% of America saying they will not take the "rushed" vaccine.

Also there are so many unsung heros.  The fusion of the military and scientists is amazing how they worked together it blows my mind.  The leaps in knowledge is astounding. Think of it. How do you get every person in the entire world (except Russia who is still in denial) a shot.  Even in the most remote regions where there is no electricity for something that needs to be stored at -95.

There will be 150 million people that get the shot before I do  - I'm certainly not essential.

When big pharma said it will be late 2021 before a vaccine is ready Trump's head of the CDA (I think it was CDA) , a former CEO of a big pharm said NO, we are America we can do anything and that was when Warp Speed was put in place.

If Trump would have explained what it really was, if he would have stopped saying a vaccine will be ready in October because we are rushing it . . . . . his team was actually doing something REALLY good and he kept sabotaging them with mindless dribble like hydroxychloroquine.

NOW the big issue is blacks and hispanics who refuse to take the vaccine.  "We have no trust in a rushed vaccine and have been screwed in the past by the government"  That is why you will soon see Obama take a shot on live TV.   If Obama (a black dude if you don't see color) will take a shot it's, OK.

Look at the Tuskegee Airman and the experiment the Fed did on them with injecting blacks with mercury and bismuth. OH yea - I trust the fed!

So yea - Operation Warp Speed is the 8th wonder of the world which seems to have passed over most people on Monday.

Beating Covid gives me hope in mankind - we really can do anything if we all work together.

Property tax and Ron Johnson - worlds biggest dope

OK - I gotta say it - Ron Johnson is the world's biggest dope.  He said that the "election results have still not been resolved".   Really Ron?  I know you are an anti-democracy politician but what else needs to be done?  Even your buddy Putin has acknowledge the election is over.

Look at what your "friends" on Fox and Friends asked to Stephan Miller last night

“Stephen, so if there were underage people voting, if there were criminals voting, if there was illegal ballots cast, your legal team, in almost every state, 50 times, lost ― some with Trump judges.

So, do you have the worst legal team, who just don’t seem to be presenting a good case?” Kilmeade asked on “Fox & Friends

********************

WOW - what an amazing NFL game Monday night - it's not often you see 3 touchdowns, a field goal AND a safety in the last 4 minutes AND four lead changes.  Not even counting, bringing an injured QB out of the locker room for a 4th and 2 and then he throws a 44 yard TD pass.

Baltimore wins 47-42 - BUT WAIT!   That safety to end the game?  The point spread was -3.5 for Baltimore.  Before the safety Baltimore was winning by 3 meaning everybody who bet on Cleveland was winning . . . . . until Cleveland kept throwing the ball backwards into a safety to end the game  LOL

*******************

Here in Columbus everybody is all up in arms about property taxes.  Ours went up about 13% this year and up 39% in the last 3 years but since 2012 the taxes have gone up a TOTAL of 25%.  2.1% a year which is not so bad in the long run.

Plus we have put maybe 100K into the house in those years so . . . . .

*******************

I ordered two Stupid Car Tray Saturday and we got it Monday morning.  I had to go to Burger King for a cold Whopper Junior yesterday to try it out!   UP - works as advertised.  I wanted to invent this about 7 months ago when I realized so many people would be eating in their cars.

A piece of plywood?  Well, then I stumbled on the Stupid Car Tray which works GREAT on the couch AND in the car.

Look at this dude - notice the two little feet to keep things level.

It's about $29.95 BUT WAIT - if you use the DISCOUNT CODE OF

RODMELOTTE

- you get 10% off AND I will get rich beyond my wildest dreams.  I have two. (no I don't mean "I have too" so I can pay my property taxes. )   When I pick up Elweed and we go to Mooya Burger BURGERS, FRIES & SHAKES. THE TASTE TRIFECTA, he sits in the back seat of the car and spills everything.

NOT ANY LONGER!!   No more fries that Gus will find hiding in the cracks.

So many of us that drive a lot, do so with an empty seat next to us. What if we could put a non-permanent, light weight, durable, easily stowable, stupidly useful tray table next to us? And it leveled the seat, held our pizzas, casseroles, and hamburger/fries?

call now - our operators are standing by.

So I made a post about the lack of canned spinach and as normal people were all like   WHY!!!

Well - just try to find canned lettuce on the shelves!!

The good news is the vaccine is here and the pandemic is over WHOO HOO!!  I'm going to lick every bus railing I can find!

As of last Saturday Australia had gone one week with 0 Covid infections.

Remember the Paycheck Protection Program Trump and the GOP put out to help businesses with 500 or less employees?  660 BILLION Dollars worth?  $30 Billion went to 255,000 restaurants.

Well those restaurants included McDonalds, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and so forth, which were only 1% of all restaurants but got over 24% of the money.

**************

OH OH - a new pandemic 585 people in Andrah Pradesh India have been hospitalize strange illness that includes symptoms from nausea to loss of consciousness with no apparent link between those affected.

They’ve all been tested for not just coronavirus but also dengue, chikungunya and herpes, with none coming up positive.  Not a clue so far.

Canned Spinach and the lack thereof

To say yesterday was a good photographic day for me would be an understatement.

After getting coffee started and feeding the cats and Gus I looked outside to see the bird feeder empty and it was REALLY frosty out.   I go out and fill the feeder and then go get my camera as the frost on the Gold Dew Grass and the Karl Foerster Grass was outstanding.

I take a few photos and post them here and there and BAM - this one was featured on Channel 27 morning news/weather this morning and was purchased by another person.  Max the morning meteorologist on CH27 follows Gus the Weather Dog on Facebook.  and BTW - Gus was exactly correct 3 days another the storm.

Personally I liked this one more

But then I get a text asking about the hawk that makes visits every so often and what kind of hawk it is.  I reply it's a Cooper's Hawk.

SO - a few hours later I'm watching football in the basement and I have a view of our feeder which has been busy (A White Breasted Nuthatch is a new bird last week) and then I notice - NO BIRDS!

Upon further review  . . . a Cooper's hawk looking for lunch.

I posted this on Wild Birds Wisconsin and have over 200+ likes and 6 shares and a lot of comments.

+++++++++++++++++++++++

Canned Spinach and the lack thereof

I grew up with Popeye and for some reason my mom thought she could get vegetables in my life because of Popeye and spinach.  I love that green mush with butter and salt but since Covid hit - it's totally disappeared off shelves.    Every so often there is some generic crap but not the good stuff by an actual cannery.

Seems just like canned corn which is a special corn grown by a very very few farmers and spinach, because of  Covid was hit by the perfect storm.  Wet weather, shipping issues, lack of cans and lack of undocumented immigrants for harvesting and it's GONE!   TRUMP TOOK AWAY MY SPINACH.

Did you know canned spinach is MUCH better for you then fresh spinach?  Spinach is a super food - It's almost a steroid for muscles and there is actual science behind Popeye and spinach.  A huge muscle builder.

Back a few decades ago when I was a semi pro online poker player (island vacations, road trips across America, $250 sunglasses, and so forth) I kept looking at affiliate programs.  I became a part owner of an online poker site during its heyday, got paid once and then the GOP (4 senators actually) decided to make all cash transactions to banks illegal and froze all of our cash overseas on the Isle of Man. (right when I was buying our house in Columbus).

I had about $15K frozen and could not get it to America but the REALLY irritating thing was I lost access to "my" poker site right when it was REALLY taking off.

At that time I was writing for Full Tilt magazine  and also selling  a really cool mouse pad that looked like poker tables as an affiliate.  WELL -  with online poker sort of dying Full Tilt went belly up and so did my affiliate programs.

Sidenote - all for GOP senators lost their next election - do NOT piss off poker players!

WELL - in a few days I have a new affiliate program in the works!  So exciting. Nothing to do with poker but VERY useful.

Stay tuned!

What a day today - the Vaccine starts to arrive to a needle near you and the Electoral College (of which I know one of the voters) . . votes today!

I can't wait for that sweet sting of the needle - no wait - that is for tattoos - I can't wait for the freakish pain of that big ass needle.  I hope it's as fun as my shingle shot!  That was a joy and I have heard it's pretty much the same.

Flu shot - ting - no pain
pneumonia shot - OUCH!

Shingle shot - HOLY MOTHER F**KER! I almost slapped the nurse by accident.

BUT - I would rather have a shot that lasts 3 days then covid that lasts until the END OF DAYS.

DJ and I have started binging SEAL TEAM - yup - you read that right.  It's like The A Team for grown-ups.

Camping and backing

apparently the cereal changes skin color also

Ten years ago today Columbus had a bon-a-vide blizzard!

*********************************

OK - so yesterday I went to the barber and there was a dude from the 32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Unit getting his stubble cut.

Without him knowing it I paid for his haircut because I appreciate the military.  Did I get a thank you? a nod of acknowledgement?   I got nothing.  I have been thinking about this for 24 hours now and I'm wondering why I feel I should have gotten SOMETHING.

So  . . am I a bad person for thinking I should have gotten anything in return?  I have been feeling guilty for 24 hours now that I was a little ticked.   I'm so conflicted!  I even gave the barber a tip for him.

*****************

Camping story. My parents were big campers.  I remember when I was 6 I think the family went on a vacation to Florida in a VW beetle and a trailer with tents and stuff.
The trip to Florida with 4 people - GULP

I remember my mom wrapping spanish moss around herself in Mississippi and it was full of chiggers. Spent a night in the hospital.

I remember my dad telling me not to mention the civil war (which was a obsession even back then) and I REALLY remember coming back and for some reason we stopped at night on a dark road.  We were all out of the car . . maybe taking a pee or something and my dad in a very very low voice but very stern and I have goosebumps even today thinking about it

"Get back in the car, get back in the car NOW".

My brother was bitten by a whip tail scorpion one morning when he put on his pants and it was in one leg.    FUN FUN vacation!  we also went out to the Rockies

ANYWAY - that is not the story.

Dad purchased a BIG tent. One of those that sleeps 8 or something and before we went camping with it he wanted to put it up in the backyard.

WELL - we all had our jobs so we put it up and then we took it down.  THEN - we put it up again and we took it down and THEN  ONE MORE TIME we put it up and took it down.  Spent all afternoon "rehearsing".

So we went camping and we get out of the car and proceed to put it up in a military fashion  Each of us doing our jobs.

About halfway through by brother see's people watching us and when we were finished there was literally a group of people that applauded us.  LOL  OH - we were good!

This came to mind as we were talking about my brothers 2 camping adventures last summer after he got HIS pop-up.  It seems nobody knows how to backup a trailer and there is yelling and cursing between husbands and wives who can't communicate.

I'm pretty good at backing a trailer, maybe not a 17 foot one like we are getting but I understand the geometry. Just like parallel parking, it's all geometry and you only turn the wheel twice. It's simple.

HOWEVER - trailers have blind spots.  DJ found this video about backing into a site and the last part is OUTSTANDING.  Where should the spotter stand and what he or she should say and a few other tips I had not thought of.

OH - I'm disgusted about the democrats in Wisconsin getting all anal about two republicans putting up a tree in the State Cap Rotunda!  GOOD LORD PEOPLE - GET A FREAKING LIFE.

Getting all pissy about two republicans DEFYING AN ORDER and putting up a 5 foot Christmas tree and taking an hour of their time to decorate it so a 100+ year tradition could be maintained.

BAA HUMBUG!

Looks like I will get to see DUNE for free when it hits the theatres and HBO MAX!  I would rather see DUNE in a theatre even though I have a kick ass Home Theatre

Breakdancing is now an Olympic sport . . . ???   YUP  2024 in Paris!   boxing and weightlifting - GONE  too much doping it seems

+++++++++

Med schools have seen an 18% increase.  STILL not enough to have Universal Health Care which will never happen in my lifetime.  A stupid pipe dream.  If you want to completely gut and put in place an entirely new health cares system  . . . . look at Obama Care, worked GREAT and then . . . . the GOP decided too many people were getting health care.

OH - in theory it would be great.  Logistically impossible as long as we keep getting a different party in charge. and we need MANY MANY MANY more nurses and doctors.

Glucosamine - Stock Market - rain and Astico bridge

Well - if you have money in the stock market Covid has been REALLY good to you.  I mean seriously - you can't NOT make large sums of money this year - it's been crazy.

SADLY - the highs are not as wonderful as you might think as they are all not done with actual wonderfulness in business market but pure optimism about either Trump losing or a vaccine that will get the world back to reality.  It's like the cosmic forces said - "Let's reboot earth".

I've read a lot of articles about 2021 and seriously - like always nobody really knows.  They go both ways.   I tend to be optimistic  (lack of prednisone in my veins this morning - more on that in a bit) and I believe that it will be a good year in the market next year with a few typical bumps along the way.

The reason I don't trust any actual people that know anything is because the World has never gone through anything like this.

The Spanish flu came to an end when everybody died or got immune.  50/50 chance but here we are with the acting President telling people to NOT wear masks.  I have to believe that most people dieing are Trump supporters or just stubborn Republicans for the most part or more sadly the poor.

Maybe the cosmic forces are just culling the herd.  Is that the master plan?

********************

Today is the first day in over a year I an not taking ANY prednisone for my bout with PMR (Polymyalgia rheumatica).  I STILL say my knee issues were brought on by the PMR that mysteriously appeared at the exact time I had knee issues.

A year ago I was boosting my body up for a Jan 2 knee replacement.  Now?  I running up and down stairs with zero pain at all.  Of course in the last 6 months I have done absolutely nothing so it's not like my knee is being overworked.

Actually the BIG thing that happened is Glucosamine.  A few months ago I was in the normal "1" and sometimes "2" in knee pain when I started taking Glucosamine.  Now - "0" for over a month.  OH - it's not 100% great as you won't see me sprinting in a race but across the road for sure.

I've even wanted to start working out but . . . . that covid thing.

The PMR has not been an issue for 9 months but the weaning off prednisone seems to take some time.  I tell ya though - that PMR was freaking scary.  When you can't move your arms all of a sudden and your ass is ON FIRE 24/7 and nobody knows why . . . scary!

********************

OH - Bridgejumper my football system was 6-6 this year.  Like everything in sports, it was an odd year. when home field advantage is non-existent and actually this year there is an away field advantage it does not help.

MEANWHILE on the cannabis front Madison made news

Up to one ounce can be smoked in private homes and on public places like sidewalks, but not on state-owned property, like the Capitol grounds or on the UW-Madison campus.  Not that you would eve smoke an ounce at once.

It seems in Madison they decided to STOP the race war. Typically police in large cities use cannabis as an excuse to bust black people for whatever they feel like.  Cannabis use is pretty much 50/50 between white and non-white but 70% of arrests for cannabis is non-white.

*******************

The murder of restaurants continue in America.  In the rest of the world governments are helping restaurants during Covid.  In Germany 70% is covered in restaurants when they are forced to close.

In America there are 827 lobbyists for insurance companies putting pressure on the Senate to do nothing to help restaurants.  They say by paying the insurance they would lose 398 billion dollars and it's better that restaurants are allowed to fail then to have to pay.

The 100,000 restaurants that closed permanently were not killed by a virus, they were killed because their insurance thought it was cheaper to let them die from a virus than to pay any claims.  And our government did nothing.

OH there is a stimulus coming that because of firing all employees that oversee where the money goes will go to large companies or non-existence companies.  Over 1 billion of the last stimulus went to companies that were just people scamming the government.

This stimulus will go to business and cities - nothing for normal people like the House wanted.

****************

WELL - that is all I have - as soon as I publish this I will think of all the things I wanted to say but . . . GONE!!

OH - I see there is an armed group outside Michigan officials house demanding they overturn the election - the anti democracy Republican Trump supporters are all in a lather.

Remember snow?  There was a big conversation on Forgotten Wisconsin about the bridge at Astigo Park.   We plan on taking our camper to Astigo for a 1 night "let's try not to die" first outing.

and the conversation turned to the mill.  (just a reason to post some photos)

MAYBe an inch of snow Saturday night - not a big deal - lots of rain Friday and Saturday

I found my keyboard!

WELL - it's the Friday after the Thursday that was one week after Thanksgiving and I am well with no Covid - so far so good even with the percent infected rate a nice steady 60% in Wisconsin the last 3 days.   I did have my patience tested - it came back negative.

Wisconsin is averaging 1,530 deaths per month (18,000 a year) but let's see the averages in another week.

Black Friday we took a trip to Beloit as they had a cannabis sale - not for us but for Elweed because he can legally have an ounce of pot in his apartment.  I mention this because today the House votes on decriminalizing cannabis.  The senate will not even talk about it.  The UN voted last week to decriminalize which - I did not know they could do that and what does it actually do?

I asked the budtender when thngs could start to look like Denver and you could actually "shop" and they said it was just the laws.   They had 14 different strains (of which 10 are basically the same - just different flavors and aromas) and there was no line.  Typically there is maybe 15 people waiting in line outside and maybe 15 in the building with 30 cars from Wisconsin in the parking lot.

So much lost revenue going to ILL while at the same time Wisconsin taxpayers lost $237 million to  Fox Conn job.  YUP - The Republicans in charge are doing a GREAT job with your money.

It's time real Republicans take back their party from morons like Vos, Fitz and the dumbest of them all Ron Milk Toast Johnson who still believes Trump won.

I won't even speak about the real embarrassment Trump - remember Don - When one door closes and another opens, you are probably in prison.

MEANWHILE - In Columbus - on my favorite chatter pages (the one I was not banned from) there was a big whoop dee doo about an SUV driving slowly around Columbus.  Photos were taken  and there was chatter about calling the police because it just looked shifty.  The license plate was memorized and the neighborhood watches were all on standby in full force.

LOCK YOUR DOORS - HIDE YOUR CHILDREN!!

There was another post about the garbage not being picked up  . . . . . . . . wait . . . are those two linked?

YES THEY ARE!!   The shifty SUV driving slowing looking into people's basements from the street was from the waste management company looking to make sure the route was being followed

ARREST THAT CAR!!!  LOCK HER UP!!   ARE YOU LOOKING AT ME?

-------

Been watching videos on the top 20 ways to wreck your pop up.  Most were common sense but a few  like attaching water directly to your pop up will REALLY blow out your water system if the water pressure is too high.  The MAX water pressure is 50 psi which is much lower then what comes out of your tap at home so a regulator is needed - I did not know that!!

So we now have 5 reservations for camping - Mirror Lake, Wyalusing State Park, Peninsula State Park, The Apostle Islands and another Door County The Wagon Wheel Campground ( amazing reviews) for our 25th wedding anniversary.

All we need is a camper!  (Ordered it and will be here by April - we hope)  We did go to the old Gander Mountain/Camping World and WOW - what a great store that is.  After checking out Cabelas and totally disappointed and it's just a creepy place, Camping World has everything!

We joined the "club"  for $20 and will save a crap load for one year.  We learned all about Thermacell insect shield which the pop-up world says is AWESOME.  Everybody swears by them . . but only in calmish nights!

They work like citrella, zero smell and it actually paralyze all the bad insects within 15 feet. Many campers buy three and place them around the campsite.  We shall see!!

OH - I won the Strat-o- matic World Series. Verlander and Yelich were the stars - NEXT year I HOPE I win 50 games!  Yelich is well . . .a common human, I lost 80% of my pitching staff to injuries and they just sucked and the ones I have left all have ERAs over 7.00 (I have ONE starter with an ERA of 5ish) and I LITERALLY have no infielders as 2 were out for the year and 2 went to Free Agency AND - I have the worst draft picks AND I'm last when signing free agents!

++++

Just saw new neighbors moving in across the street - I was going get paid for snow blowing their sidewalks BUT NOOOO    Man!  houses are expensive in Columbus - I think it sold for $315 (the asking price) and it was on the market for MAYBE a month?

Did you hear that Warner Bros will put out 17 movies in 2021 and they will all be available on day one in theatres AND HBO Max on the same day.

We get HBO Max for free with ATT and DIRECT TV. So . . . . bring it on. WW84 on Christmas is the first one.

Nuff said

Have a great weekend and really zero chance of snow for another week.
