Trump - my New Years prediction to be taken with a grain of salt.

So the coronation of Donald Trump is nearing and people continue to quit the bands and choirs that are suppose to play.  Personally I tell myself that I will not watch it because something more important will be on TV . . . like reruns of Mr. Ed or something.  But I will.  Just like I sometimes turn on Rush Limbaugh to get a laugh and then 5 minutes later I switch it off in disgust at his ignorance and then I'm mad for the next few hours.

So what I hope for and like what Patton did,  I will pray to the weather Gods for a very blustery and rainy day so The Donald has to wear his red cap as he is being sworn in.

I doubt he will make it all 4 years (I truly do) and I can see him having a heart attack because his Doctor failed to actually take his pulse and blood pressure.

There will be a HUGE ceremony and a golden casket flanked with 500 white horses being ridden with beautiful hotties will parade down Pennsylvania Avenue and citizens of the US applaud (for their own reasons).  100,000 white doves will be released and as they fly over the golden casket flanked with 500 white horses being ridden with beautiful hotties,  cannons will fire of a 21 gun salute scaring the doves which will then release their glands over the onlookers spreading thousands of pounds of white goo over the parade.

Oddly, mirroring what happened to Hitler at the opening of the Nazi German Olympics in 1936.

*******************************

So I have been running this NBA system for 4 years now on a different social network and the only reason I mention this is that as of last night, the lifetime numbers are 210 wins and 122 losses for a    63.2% which is freakishly outstanding.

I was banned for life on a major sports forum 2 years ago for saying I could beat 60% (I guess I bragged a little to much saying I was the best so they banned me saying NOBODY could beat 60% consistently . . . so I started my own forum).

And this year so far?  31 and 18   63.2%  THAT my friend is consistency. And I'm not a big NBA fan at ALL.  Have not watched a game this year that did not have the Bucks playing.

A lot of people do what is called proportional betting where they bet 7 to 10% of their bankroll on each play and readjust everyday.

*********************************

Weather - nothing real exciting happening that is out of the ordinary. Colder weather coming next week but nothing that is HIDEOUS - normal winter stuff.

*********************************

Have a fantastic New Year and let's pray that 2017 . . . will not be our last.  It is a Prime number year you know!  The last one for 10 years.

Post Christmas blog

So I've been keeping my head down trying to stay out of trouble but the other week I was in the Columbus Walgreens and a guy buying something at the counter had a revolver stuck in the middle of his back.  I was sort of shocked as it's something I didn't expect to see.

It was right there, not hidden or anything, not in a holster, but stuck in his pants in the small of his back.  I was unsure of what I should do.  I've had one of those things stuck in my face during a robbery at Wilcox Wine and Liqueur in Madison as I was being robbed a few decades ago, so I was not really scared or anything (had some crazy dreams though), been there done that but what the hell should I have done.

I wanted to grab it but then I figured nothing good would come of that!  SO - since no one else seemed alarmed (except for a couple people that turned around and walked out when I pointed it out). I just kept an eye on the guy and located the exits!

SO - what is the correct procedure for this.  I personally think anyone carrying a concealed weapon lacks testosterone as he must always be frightened. The new bill going through the WI government to allow students to carry weapons is ludicrous and just plain ignorant.  Let's see, college where many young people have their first taste of REAL mental stress breakdowns AND where binge drinking is common . . .yea . . .let's allow them to carry weapons . . . what could possibly go wrong.

Freaking morons in Wisconsin Government.

****************************

Here is some news I can share.  The "official" vote has not been taken yet but since we gave the DOT the orders. . . .the road from the Hospital to Faith Drive will be redone in 2018 and will include bike lanes and we're getting a freaking good deal. Seems the DOT does not want to deal with a highway that goes into our city so they will repave the road at 1/10th the cost if we take control of it afterword. A savings of about $400,000.

This past year "we" have saved a LOT of money on purchases that would have been needed sooner or later.  I'm pretty proud of the Columbus fiscal responsibility the last few years.  Now we need to find more places to build homes as we are running out of space AND we need to make Columbus more family friendly which we have not done yet (bike paths?).

*****************************

DJ and I watched Interstellar last night! WOW - what a freaking adventure. Beautiful movie and very VERY thought provoking. Long movie but we could not take our eyes off the "what happens next" flick. First part is almost like "Signs" (one of my favorite movies) last part was a little like "2001:Space Odyssey" while the middle is a Space adventure. Bravo!!

*************

I'm in a quandary with books. To many good ones all at the same time.  "If I Never Get Back: A Novel" about an accidental time traveler going back to 1869, the beginning of baseball.  I'm also reading "Killing the  Rising Sun" Co-written by Bill O'Reilly, this decades Stephen Ambrose  for reliving history.  I'm not a fan of the guy but MAN he is a good writer.

Speaking of Stephen Ambrose (he wrote "Band of Brothers").  I mentioned to my mom once about how I liked this author.  She said "yes, he was good and his father fixed my teeth".  There was silence while I digested what she just said . . . . . ." his dad fixed your teeth?"  I said.  "Yes" . . . .and she went onto a different conversation.

I let it go as some oddball weirdo memory she had and then I looked and . . . his dad was a dentist in Whitewater, where she lived.   NO FREAKING WAY!!!

Anyway - great but gritty book. I read "Killing Patton" and will end up reading all the "killing" books which are not about "killing" but more about the history leading up to the demise.  I do believe Patton was murdered by the then CIA.

DJ and I watched Patton on Christmas, she loved the movie.

I'm also reading Monstress , a graphic novel I picked up at Cardinal Comics.  An art-deco steampunk horror novel, It's illustrated by Sana Takeda from Madison.

I have words for the right mood . . when I'm not reading a manual.

**************

No more Fanduel.  We flunked out last week and this week so many teams are not playing to win we're going to skip it.

Ended up with a good year.

This weekend I'm helping Elwood on a resume and cover letter for a GREAT job he SHOULD get.

He has worked for Clean Power for 20 years (they can't get rid of him).  Every time they reduce his hours the place he cleans puts up a stink.

Now he has an opportunity to  clean at a place with vacation time, profit sharing, sick days good wages, friendly and yada yada.  PLUS, they have a very hard time hiring millennials who just don't like working that hard at cleaning (the same ones that do not know how to read an analog clock probably).

If he gets this it would literally be a life changer for a very very bright underachiever.

************************

A lot of people are losing sleep over politics but I read something today about our MAYBE new Secretary of State.  Seems social conservatives are not to happy with the guy.  He led the fight to allow openly gay people into the Boy Scouts and is a huge donater to Planned Parenthood.  ExxonMobil has a sky high rating for Corporate Equality Index.   Just sayin . . .

Also - if you are looking for ANYTHING positive . . . besides Obama calling Trump up and reaming him a new asshole yesterday (which I'm pretty sure is what happened as Trump changed his tone) is that Trump has been calling out cost overruns with the military.  A fraud can spot a fraud . . .see?  it's a positive thing having a fraud in the Gold House.

OH - I won't even go into how yesterday Trump took credit for the current economy and how it has been really clicking for the last 8 years.

******************************

If you are looking to invest in the coming cannabis explosion look into AMMJ, American Cannabis Co. They are a consulting group that helps business navigate through the myriad of regulations and knows all the in's and out's of growing operations.   OH - they are still a "penny" stock with huge swings but every time  a new State comes online their base price goes up.  92 cents at this moment. They were in the 10 cent range before the last group of States came on board. Their base looks to be in the 75 cent range now

There are a few others I'm watching including one business that, like the Gold Rush, makes the picks and shovels for grow houses. Remember, it was not the gold diggers that made the fortunes, it was the companies that sold the gold diggers the picks and shovels.

**************************

Anybody play  Forge of Empires?  It's a free online game that is like Civilization but with real people instead of AI.  Just started yesterday.  The nice thing is that you can only play for maybe 30 minutes because once you do something it has to do it's thing in real time.  No sitting down for 7 hours to play a game.  It's little spurts during the day.

**************************

Weather - a pretty large glob of arctic air is making it's way towards Wisconsin, a week off yet. No big storms to speak of  except for a large rain event Monday.

Christmas - Window Lights

We were walking home from church
That cold and moonlit Christmas Eve,
While the chill slipped down a collar here,
And there crept up a sleeve,
Till we pulled our mufflers closer
And we pocketed our hands,
And the snow beneath our footsteps
Creaked like frozen rubber bands.

Our words made wreaths of frosty flowers,
December puffs of bloom,
Muted laughter made the sidewalk
Seem as cozy as a room,
Far away a dog was barking
Like a bell against the night,
When we turned around our corner
And we saw our window light.

Window lights shine out a welcome
Far across the dazzled snow,
Shine out warmth and cheer and comfort,
Glimpse of tree and candle glow,
We all stopped and drew together,
There was something so serene,
So warm and close and loving
In that simple Christmas scene.

The moment didn't last long,
Someone looked for Santa's sleigh,
Someone asked could  we have cocoa,
Amd we hurried on our way,
Bit I think we'll all remember now,
However far we roam,
That the truest lights of Christmas
Are the windows lights of home.

A good friend has a new forever home for a new puppy.  There have been videos of the Golden Retriever puppy rollicking in the snow and enjoying life . . . .until I saw last night said puppy had a cast.  Broken tibia - seems he jumped up on a bed and his leg went between the bed frame and mattress and snap!  It made my night so sad :-(   Good good thing is he is growing.

Not much more - just a Merry Christmas to anybody that is taking some vacation time and won't be around for a few days!

Christmas At Home = EV Melotte

There's a warm, warm feeling to Christmas,
whatever the thermometers say.
It's a pine-scented, house-happy, love-warm time
with our family all home for the day.

We have red velvet ribbons and golden bells,
and all the cards hung up to see.
We have friends dropping by, and a fire in the hearth,
and a ceiling-high Christmas tree.

Our pockets are bare, but the pantry is full,
and we're warm, and we're healthy and sound.
When the last child is home, stomping snow from his boots,
we're the wealthiest family in town.

So we wish you red ribbons and golden bells,
and snow-sparkled Christmas card weather.
We wish you a house-happy, love-warm day
and your family all home together.

Frank Lloyd Wright Christmas Home

I've been working on photos for a Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian home in Marshall and this was a teaser I sent them to make sure I had a look/feel they were hoping for.

*************

Major good change in weather patterns - The jet stream is moving north so we should have a more southerly flow of air blocking any more arctic intrusions.  HOWEVER - The Pacific is still pretty active so all the storms lined up will catch a ride on the jet which is right over northern Wisconsin. SO - that means we are in for a regular bout of storms either glancing us or right in the bulls eye.

Two this week, one Wednesday and another bigger one Christmas.

This weekends storm was a little letdown but still a good 7.5 inches and we have a 10.5 inch snow pack. We should be in the 30s starting Wednesday and hit it a few times in the next week.

****************

Elwood and I had our best week yet in Fanduel.  3rd in a 100 person tournament.  2 in a 50 person and 9th in a 284 person tournament.  All different lineups.  Now 10 times in the money in the last 15.

Anyone notice in yesterdays Packer game how they threw deep in the 1st quarter, found they could get guys open and stuck it in their back pocket for a later use when they really needed a deep pass?

Well, played.

Democrats need to stop whining about the Electoral Collage and maybe instead win elections. Instead of using the EC as a scapegoat perhaps they should have understood that you need to with the Electoral Collage and NOT the popular vote.  it's two different campaigns.  And really - the three states that lost it were only by a total of 80,000 votes.  Bad luck for the American economy  as now Banks will have regulations loosened that will allow them to give out bad loans and wall street will be free for more corruption in the "trickle down" movement that never actually happens.

Wells Fargo has 41% less new accounts since last year.  Who would ever trust those thieves again. And Trump wants to loosen regulations for banks.

*******************

Between  2007 and 2012  West Virginia was sent  555,808,292 doses of hydrocodone and 224,260,980 doses of oxycodone.  That is 433 doses per person in that time period.  Meanwhile in Colorado doses have dropped 50% of those drugs and big pharmaceuticals are VERY anti cannabis because of this.

In other news - according to the American Society of Civil Engineers Wisconsin is ranked 4th worst State in the Nation for roads.  SO - we have a failing education system do to lack of funding and 4th worst roads in the US. Yet - the Governor tells us all is well and Wisconsin is doing GREAT!

And the  gullible continue to vote the same people into office.

Trump has picked Mick Mulvaney to head the Office of Management and Budget which pretty much puts the breaks on any kind of job stimulus. He is a fiscal hawk and does not want to spend ANY money on anything, including job stimulus.  He is against infrastructure borrowing.  Basically cut everything and don't spend money on anything.

"This significantly lowers the probability of big unfinanced tax cuts and big unfinanced infrastructure spending,"

We shall see.

Christmas Wishes - EV Melotte

My mom wrote a Christmas poem every year  when sending our Christmas cards. These seemed to be the ones she liked the most.

Christmas Wishes

May your house be full of Christmas
Long before the day appears.
May it's glow light up the season
And then linger through the years.

May you wake to birdsong daily
Feeling blessed by morning light,
And know the peace of work well done
Before you sleep each night.

May your friends be always near you
When you need them by your side.
May your children bless their home
And lift your hearts with pride.

May you walk the earth with pleasure,
May the skies be kind above,
May your hearts reflect your hearth fire
And your lives be warm with love!

Weather YIKES!!! here comes  WINTER STORM Decima!

The talking heads on TV are saying 2 to 4 inches coming this weekend starting Friday - NOT!!!

ME?  I'm saying 8 to 13 inches starting Friday as the Pineapple Express and the Siberian Express collide over Wisconsin in another 1-2 punch.  Last weekend the 1-2 punch sort of morphed into a 1+ punch as the second punch failed to deliver and Wisconsin only got an extra inch for a total of about 7-8 inches (talking heads at this point last week were calling for 3 inches).

I'm thinking 7 inches of accumulation as we wake up Saturday and then another 4 Saturday as the winds start to kick up.  THEN - we get REAL cold Sunday with a high hitting -6 AT MIDNIGHT. Most of the day Sunday will be in the -10 range so shoveling will be a JOY with -25 wind chills.

The good news is after 2 or 3 days of another intense cold spell it looks like "we" have temporary drained the arctic swamp of cold  . . . at least for a few days.

If this was summer I would be looking at an inch of rain this weekend. This weekend is the top news maker for NOAA for the next 5 days.

54% of Americans have not heard any news at all about "Alt-Left" (also called neo-nazi's).  And you wonder how Trump got elected?  Of course something like 54% of Americans didn't vote so . . . .

The interesting thing is that six of Trumps billionaire posse donated over $11 million dollars to his campaign. And now they are in his Cabinet.

I'm not saying that is a bad thing . . . just informational only (I don't want to piss off my Trump friends).

I'm in the process of taking glamour shots of a Frank Lloyd Wright home in Marshall and on the way home last night I came across some bales of straw.  Bales of straw FOR ME, are to capture (even when they are standing still - ba ba boom) as they need something else to go with them.  Like sunsets they need something else to go with them.

BUT - the lighting was wonderful and the snow did the trick.

Inside the house were all sorts of cool things to capture.   FORKS

It was explained to me that forks are useful for spearing things when cooking and testing potatoes.

My buddy Elwood has a fork.  Maybe I'll get him another one for Christmas.

More on the house as I get more into it.  Sort of a meet and greet yesterday.

Christmas - 1960 EV Melotte

The house is a-bustle with holiday doings,
With baking and trimming and wrapping of toys,
Buying and trying and signing of Christmas cards,
Carols and laughter and secrets and noise.

The children are busily being mysterious,
They've bolted their doors and are late for their meals,
Soon they will appear bearing queerly shaped packages
Bristling with Scotch tape and hundreds of seals.

We think that our kitten, in sniffing the presents,
Got too big a whiff of her new catnip mouse,
For she's knocked down the little tree, climbed up the big tree,
And eaten the roof off the gingerbread house.

Our youngest is trudging upstairs with a ruler
To find Daddy's biggest and stretchiest socks.
Out little chihuahua is wild with excitement
And keeps falling into the ornament box.

So steady the ladder and hand me that angel,
Hi-ho the holly and mistletoe, too!
All of is here in our family are wishing
The merriest possible Christmas to you!

STORM coming.

Looking like about 5 inches Saturday afternoon and night, a break during SunDAY and a possibility of another round Sunday night . . . .then the Siberian Express hits us.  The air we will breath starting Tuesday originated from Siberia and highs will be in the 4s and lows in the -10s.

The we might get clobbered again NEXT weekend with a more powerful storm which we will need to pay attention too!

12/5/16 - THAT IS NOT A DOG!!

WELL - some good news for a change.  Once American veterans started to arrive at Standing Rock to protect US Citizens against their own Government . . . things got real fast.

There was no Environmental Impact Study (you don't need one for a small pipeline and this was MANY small pipelines all connected) so now it seems there will be one.

The pipeline has been stopped - at least until Trump is in charge and he has a lot of money in investments riding on this pipeline and all pipelines so we shall see what happens next.  AT THE MOMENT - it's a victory for the American Indians.

********************

I won't go into Trump and how he is destabilizing the world with his bathroom tweets insulting China (He owes China a few hundred million in unpaid bills).

A lot of people were complaining about the polls being wrong yet at the end of the day the national polls were pretty accurate.  The final tally was Clinton wins by 3% when in reality it was closer to 2% except without that "win" part.

The State polls were the problem and those were pretty close. The final week of fake GOP anti-Clinton propaganda was the final straw as 80% of the 20% undecided went to Trump. Of course the ineptness of Clinton did not help either.

DNC=inept GOP=corrupt.

OK OK - I have not slept since the election!

Glad there is nothing like that in Columbus to worry about!   knock on wood.

Pass the N2O please

Yesterday was rather interesting.  I had a 30 year old root canal that FAILED.  The tooth cracked and I needed to have it taken out.  Luckily I could afford to get a replacement (thanks mom). Since most of you will at some point have to have a tooth pulled here is what to expect.

I took 2 little pills that are suppose to make you sleepy one hour before the proc. I took them and DJ drove me to Madison. At 1:00 I was called in and the assistant asked if I was relaxed.  I said yea but not any more then I was an hour ago. So they crushed up another pilled, added some mint and put it under my tongue.

Then goggles and lastly what I was looking for, a little nose mask with Nitrous oxide.  The Doc said breath normally through my nose.  I was already taking huge lung-fulls of precious N2O, no need to remind me.  He said if I feel my fingers and toes tingling they could turn it down . . . . .isn't that the point? I WANT that!

A couple local shots and I could feel nothing.

WELL - this is not some gentle procedure for sure. Tugging, pulling and all sorts of scraping. Felt zero pain.  About 1/3 of the way through I had them stop and said TURN UP THE N2O.  Doc made sure I said UP and then back to scraping pulling and tugging.

Meanwhile my brain is multi tasking and the two guys in my mouth are now characters in my brain

My dentist was Kumail Nanjiani and he was pretty funny

and his assistant was Zack Woods

The odd thing was is that Zack said he had just quit working at Manards last week . . .wait what??  This is a part time job and his other one was working at Manards??

So they are working away and I could tell they were at the PULLING OUT part as my head was being tugged left and right (it was rather fun actually) .

THEN POP, and both guys, at the same time say  said OH and EEEWWWW  WOW!

Never a great thing to hear but I knew what happened.  My tooth had split right down the middle. Still, remember - ZERO pain.  Doc explained that my tooth had "split right down the middle" and came out in halves.

Then the real work started as they had to clean up the area and put in cadaver bone dust to prepare for a new tooth 5 months down the road. The cadaver bone dust actually grows into MY jaw. Now I can explain why I have a split personality.

Finally they stitched everything up.  I heard the Doc tell another nurse "Almost done" and I was literally sad as I was having a great time.

DJ drove me home and I was feeling pretty good.  I figured I would make the important Council meeting tonight with ease.

I get home and put an ice pack on my cheek and lay down for a bit as DJ goes to the pharmacy to get some unneeded vicodin.  It was about 2:30.

The next thing I know is that I'm waking up about 8:00.  hmmmmmm

This morning I wake up and the left side of my head feels like I was sucker punched (I actually know that feeling LOL).

And that is my story.  I'm suppose to take it easy today, soft food, ice packs yada yada.  So - that is the story.

HA -I JUST read pain will be MOST intense 2-3 days AFTER the procedure!  I can't wait I sort of thought I was out of teh woods on that one  :-(

Five years ago today I posted on Facebook that a Columbus computer company was ripping me off. Little did I know at the time that 2 weeks later they would literally STEAL my laptop and the local police department AND the DOJ did absolutely nothing to prevent it because it "was a business".

Well, if a business decided to KEEP your car when you took it in for an oil change is that the same thing?  I call it BS.  Can a business steal anything and local police are handcuffed?   More then 8 laptops were stolen.  Can a car dealership steal 8 cars and get away with it?  I guess so!

I never got my laptop back, my identity could have or still can me stolen but the dude might still be in jail as he was caught in another town.  My iPhone was stolen a while ago. The Madison police found it but held it as evidence  . . . then when I asked for it back they could not find it.  FAIL

A tweet can run the globe while the truth is still putting its shoes on."

Trump is trumping how he saved jobs with Carrier . . . .yet fails to mention that Indiana will pay the $700,000 in tax incentives.  BUT - carrier is still outsourcing 1,300 jobs to Mexico.  Trump is spending a LOT of energy making Tweet worthy deals that have a net effect of zero but sound good.

OH and as of January 20th Trump will be able to Tweet EVERY cell phone in the country whether you want it or not because of the WEA network.  Executive Order 13407 says he can and he has mentioned it as a way to get around the corrupt news organizations. He wants to control the media.

Sounds awesome.

OK - time for icepacks
