The Wisdom Sizzler

I was looking at the hit counter yesterday because I had always thought that once "the movie" came out and the buzz and finally worn off I would lose readers and could relax as I would now only be writing for my mom and people that look for spelling errors.

But what I saw was an inordinate amount of hits for so early in the day. Upon further investigation they were all coming from India and somebody was looking at every page of my blog . . . . for 30 seconds. Wait a minute.

YUP - some Spam-tard had hit the blog and I have 300+ spams for DirectTV. grrrrrrr.
---------------------------------------

DJ and I were eating our lunch on the Capital lawn when a guy comes up and tells us that we are not allowed to sit on a blanket because of Concerts on the Square. Well - we were sitting on it because it rained and my ass was going to get wet. We're eating lunch, not staking a claim! He said sorry but the rules say no blankets on the lawn before 3:00. You gotta be freaking kidding me. I look around and people are sitting on lawn chairs. What about those guys! No the rules state blankets!

It was about this time when little red dots were starting to show up on DJ's forehead and I could tell snipers on the Capitol roof had us in our sites as we were most certainly terrorists trying to cause trouble.

So we folded the blanket, sat our asses on the damp ground and now I think I have a freaking diaper rash.

I want to point you to another blog which expresses my opinion much better then I do about Columbus The American Carriage Builder. There are MANY great things happening in Columbus outside AND inside government (which is so weird).
=================================

Get out your long johns Friday. I think the weather dudes are playing with us again. Like when they predict 5 inches of snow and I see more like 12 inches coming. They can't predict 12 inches because if they are wrong it looks bad. But if they say 5 inches and we get 12 nobody cares because we got 12 inches and have other things to worry about.

WOW - that was a long explanation.

SO - They are saying a high of 67 tomorrow which would tie a Low MAX High Temp for July 17 (did you follow that? you may read it over again at your leisure). I suspect that for most of the day we will not even be in the 60's and I believe there is a CHANCE our high will not hit 60 at all.

In case you are wondering we should be back to normal by the 25th for the Columbus PE Celebration. Right now the forecast is 81 with Isolated T-storms which tells me that there are no big systems on the horizon.

I was talking to adubya at golf last night (who shot a 37 but I will not mention that because he had ZERO eagles!). We were talking about rides at carnivals and I said one of the things on my bucket list was to ride on a REAL Roller Coaster. Not the kind like the photo above but a professional one like The American Eagle at Six Flags or something!

The American Eagle when built was the fastest roller coaster in the world. This has been beat bit it is STILL the tallest, longest and fastest racing roller Coaster in the world. Although the red side normally wins for various reason.

This brings me to another ride I liked to go on. The Scrambler.

The Scrambler is also called The Twist in the UK and The Cha Cha in Australia. This ride suspends riders in spinning cars where they experience the illusion that they will crash into other suspended, spinning cars.

Mr. Ed's Magical Midway actually as a Wisdom Sizzler and goes MUCH faster then your typical Scrambler. The Wisdom Super Sizzler goes backwards! The Cha Cha goes even faster the the Sizzler.

The beauty of The Scrambler type rides is that is very maintenance free.

First built in 1955 it became an instant hit and 16 were made with back orders for over 200.

The basic design is called a grasscutter twist.

On a side note - this ride is not the safest ride at an amusement park and I would stay away from it. That's all I'm going to say.

Plans for the new Grocery Store have been unveiled.

Because the public has been demanding a new store for more then 22 years the City Council has decided they will MOVE the "former" Pic-N-Save across the street to a new lot behind McDonalds and call it Roundy's PICK-AND-SAVE. Yes - this will raise tax's and close traffic on Highway 16 for a few months as the large store is being moved but you will finally get your wish.

It was that or build a new store and manually carry all of the food across the street risking employees life as they run across the road.
============================

Today in 1945 the first atomic bomb was detonated successfully. But the real problem was now that they had this pretty cool bomb, what to do with it. The first plan was Germany to wipe out all of the Steins (see yesterdays blog) but they had already surrendered or moved to Wausau.

What if you build a bomb and there is nobody to blow up!! Wait a minute. Japan!!

The original budget was $6,000 for the A-bomb. It exploded up to $2,000,000,000.

OOPS!! I guess their estimate was a little off.

Have a great day!

  6. I think Madison has "dillinger" envy: the Wisconsin State Journal has put together MADISON MEMORIES:

    "Madison is a city that’s almost ridiculously rich with history. Full of successes and failures; moments both thrilling and heart-wrenching; heroes and villains; champions and underdogs.

    From virtually the beginning of the city’s history, the Wisconsin State Journal and its predecessors have been here to chronicle all of it.

    In a special section called Madison Memories, we take a look at the history of crime in our city. Our curiosity was piqued by the opening of the John Dillinger movie “Public Enemies,’’ some of which was filmed here. Dillinger had a Madison connection, and it led us into a discussion of some of Madison’s most notorious, newsworthy criminal activity.

    Through our research, we have read — and been mesmerized by — our newspaper’s coverage of these events, and we hope this section opens that same window to history for readers.

    Copies are available for $3."
