Down the drain.

I'm not the only person that has noticed the lack of comments lately. So I was curious about things and was looking at a world map of where people were reading this blog from. My hits are not slowing significantly so I figured there must be a certain amount of people that stumble into the blog, say WTF is this drivel and move on. I get a hit on my counter for the 2 seconds they are here.

But look at the map of the last 100 souls to read the blog at 7:30am. Many of them I recognize from the last year and a half.

Notice the red circle. WHO ARE YOU! He/she has been around for a while now. Maybe it's more then one person? I did see that he/she switches from Vista to XP to Mac. Are they on some island?

Maybe there is some logical explanation.

However what baffles me is the amount of readers that still come AFTER Public Enemies has come out. No Johnny Depp talk, which is what I THOUGHT people were coming here for. Now it's just blah blah blah Circus, beer, photos yada yada yada.

Then I look at my last 500 hits and I see 49 are from Germany! What? I have a big Germain following? What's going on in Nordrhein-westfalen anyway.

This is their coat of arms (does America have a coat of arms? I'll have to look). According to legend the horse in the Westphalian coat of arms is the horse that the Saxon leader Widukind rode after his baptism. Other theories attribute the horse to Henry the Lion (Henry the Lion?).

Maybe a Nordrhein-westfalen -en will leave a comment.

Gutenabend zu Ihnen. Ich hoffe, dass Sie Tag gut gingen. Woher sind Sie?

Before I forget - no blog tomorrow - I'll be at the circus taking photos of the Big Top erection.

Speaking of perfect growing weather. I mowed my front lawn Sunday and the back Monday after work. Once I was done I just pushed the mower up the hill to the front yard, across the yard and turned the mower off when I neared the garage. I look back and now my front yard has a slice of shorter grass in the middle. IT GREW AN INCH IN ONE DAY!

grrrrrrrr

When I mow I have to constantly watch out for frogs and toads as they are always jumping out of the way. I had to save this little guy (or girl, sorry).

Looks better bigger

I also have like a BILLION crickets! I can not stop for them, they are on their own.
--------------------------
Anybody see the Perseid meteor shower last night? From our deck we have a perfect view of the Milky Way and DJ and I went out about 9:30 before the moon came up and we were like ! "WOW that was close" "DUCK HERE COMES ANOTHER ONE!" "WHOO HOO THAT WAS A GOOD ONE" but then we realized that they were only firefly's! No wonder they looked so close and went in circles. Explained a lot and I could relax.

We did see a few, nothing amazing and it was like most normal nights. If we sit on our deck I bet we see maybe 2 an hour on a normal night. We also hear cows, crickets and cats ( and smell manure at times). Nothing will ever compare to a shower I saw about 15 years ago when we saw a meteor every 15 seconds for over an hour. Even saw one turn green and break into two.

Something I completely forgot about was that the Columbus Auditorium was open during the Public Enemies Celebration. I wanted to get in there for some photos but for the most part there were people wondering around getting in my way. I did manage to get a few shots in though. This was the only one with nobody walking through creating a ghost (which might be sort of cool actually).

OH - almost forgot - actually my brain was starting to put up a wall to shield me from the pain.

HAY DARE BUDDY- YA GOT A MIGHTY GOOD HEAD ON DAT DARE BEER!

SIGH!

There goes the RED down the drain. Not your typical foamer but an infected batch (my first). You can not get sick from drinking this beer. OH, you might get a little gassy for sure and it would taste like garbage but you won't get sick. This was a batch I was worried about when I took apart my spigot and saw some gunk. It's been fixed.

The four other batches since then seem good. The 1 Putt 12 APA is young but tastes great. The Porter sort of sucks (my buddy Elweed will be getting a few of those (all)) and the ESB is getting rave reviews. I have Grandma's Breakfast Stout (oatmeal, coffee and chocolate in this baby) fermenting and Bear Foot Indian Brown and Scotties Irish Dilithium Crystal Ale all moving down the beer pipeline.

AND FINALLY.

Nora the Cat.

Nora started playing piano at the age of 1.5 after watching piano students play. Her owners were upstairs and heard the piano and walked downstairs to see Nora playing.

While all the other cats ran away from the piano Nora would watch and now plays on a regular basis.

Have a great Wednesday.

  2. The meteor show was dull up here. We went out at 11:30pmish... became bored very quickly.

15 years ago seems to jibe with my memory of a really spectacular Perseid shower.

I'm commenting less because I think I only had a few things worth saying, and I've probably said them.

  3. Oh come on, M. That never stops any of the rest of us. (Or maybe just me)! :p

I'm glad I did not sit outside and wait for the Perseid shower, even if I did think about it...

I have seen Nora play before. She's quite entertaining!

  4. Hi Rod, Have you ever tried any of the Belgian beers? I went to Belgium last year to visit my sister and I tried Leffe and Hoegarden, both excellent beers!

  5. Maybe try triple hopping it and you might be able to salvage it. Did you try kroysening? That always seems to help too.
