You can Call me Ray

Not a great start to the day today as I experienced a catastrophic coffee event.

My day starts as I drag my ass out of bed, let Blake out so he won't pee anywhere and stumble to the great coffee urn (a 2009 Cuisinart DCC-1400 model). If you remember this is not the first  catastrophic coffee event I have had. On December 14 2009 I forgot to actually ADD coffee and then when I felt it was a little weak I then I forgot to put the actual POT under the thingy where the coffee comes out.

Well this time I put hot water into the pot that holds the coffee which heats up the pot so the coffee does not cool.  HOWEVER - one must not forget to empty the pot before it tries to catch the coffee.  Well, the newly brewed 2.5 cups of coffee (you do know coffee means life) found the route of least resistance to the floor.

Upon walking into the kitchen and seeing my precious on the floor my first reaction was to dive to the floor and start lapping up the coffee in some crazed frenzy,  but . . . to exert that much energy so early in the morning . . . . I would need coffee and I was afraid that if I got down there in my weakened condition DJ might find me laying face down in a pool of tepid coffee . . DROWNED!

So I just stared blankly at it trying to comprehend what was happening.   Maybe facebook would have the answer?

You can call me Ray

If Abe Vigota was dead (he is not dead - check out this link) I swear he would be getting back at me for calling him Ed the other day.  If you want a real treat (and drinking game I hear) tune into this blog early in the morning before I do all the error correcting.  I called Abe Ed for 3 hours on the day after his birthday.   ANYWAY -  I guess my years of misspellings, use of the wrong words and outright dyslexic faux pa's has finally come back to haunt me.

This was on an INTERNATIONAL website before "my people" found out.

HANG ON SNOW.

Currently we are in 13th place in the Snow Streak.  The number of consecutive days we have had snow on the ground.  If we make it to Thursday we will move ahead of 1917 into 12th, Friday we will over take 1951 and 1991 into 10th and Sunday (it will be very very close) 7th place leaving 1978, 1943 and 1919 in the dust.

2008 has the bronze medal spot (3rd place) with 116 days (we are at 88 now).

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE

Meteorological winter runs from December 1st to February 28th and this was the 10th snowiest winter EVER (well for this area at least) with 48.4 inches of snow.  14 inches less then last year and 40 inches less the the record breaking 2007.

The 2009/10 winter season is the 10th snowiest in the past 126 years or the 6th snowiest in the past 30 years.

THE MILWAUKEE BREWERS

A friend of mine writes for what I consider the #1 Baseball website/book.  The Baseball Prospectus.

This year he wrote an article for the book about the 2010 Milwaukee Brewers.  In a nutshell he says the Brewers are too smart to get bad but too poor to get better.

"We" lost Hardy and Cameron, SS and CF.  Both were very very good fielding their position but both had some problems with the bats (particularly last year).

Replacing them we now have Escobar who is amazing at short stop but an unproven bat and Gomez who is a human highlight real and BY FAR the best fielding Center fielder in the Majors (I did research last year which proves this out). HOWEVER, his bat is . . . going to be problematic.  The interesting thing is that if he gets on bast no one can stop him from stealing second (59 out of 70 attempts) and he turns only 24 this year.

Gomez is a diamond in the rough and if he can be tamed  . . WOW!  It's like having the Road Runner in Centerfield.

Yea - I'm now getting my baseball hat dusted off.

Have a wonderful Tuesday
