Unintended Consequence - STOP the plastic bag ban.

Besides America Singapore is the #2 Nation that treads this . . .WHY????

Everybody is going all gaga over the new playground Enerpac "gave" Columbus. Yet I seem to be the only one that remembers that the tax payers of Columbus are donating millions to keep Enerpac in Columbus with free property tax.
Think of the awesome playground we COULD have with how much in free property tax are we giving them every year?

Just sayin'

New park is GREAT but it's certainly NOT free.

Unintended Consequence

Pic n Save will soon get rid of plastic bags.  Everybody is cheering but wait!  A study found that cities that have completely abandoned plastic grocery bags have seen a 120% increase in small garbage bags which are thicker plastic and take MUCH longer to disintegrate making the problem even worse.

And worse yet - paper bags are actually WORSE for the environment. Yes, paper is biodegradable but the chemicals, massive amounts of water, gas and heavy machinery causes more greenhouse gas emissions (if you believe in climate change). There is no free lunch

How about charging a fee for bags so people reuse them.

Are Plastic Bag Bans Garbage?

Coffee - in my trip around the world in coffee I'm drinking a Jamaican blend which is VERY nutty.

So far in order of lick-ness

Costa Rican is #1
Colombian
Machu Picchu - Peru
Kenya
Jamaican
Ethiopian - too flowery

The Jamaican almost seems flavored it's so hazel nutty.   What I have been doing is buying like 3oz in those bulk bins just for a taste.   DJ has commented 3 times when drinking "what is this one? I love it"? and it's always been Costa Rican

NEW BURGER PLACE - MOOYAH BURGERS.

Near Woodmans and just north of the Grand Appliance in Sun Prairie ( and State Street).  OMG - so so good.  I want to compare it to Five Guys but with fresher burgers.

and  they do not have a menu system.  I hate it when you go into a place and they have to explain how to order.  Ever been to Which Witch sandwich?  They literally have someone there to explain how to order.

WELL - Mooyah burgers are fresh and juicy and the fries are like Five Guys but crisper.

The burger to bun ratio is perfect. The bun is large but not "thick and condensed" just right and baked fresh every day. he burger is not frozen.

The place is not intimidating like the first time you walk into Portellos (have not tried their burger).

All I know is I crave one. They are quarter pound burgers so you don't have to eat more then you want but I could have had two.  Of course I always want two Rocky Rococco slices but always feel disgusted with myself after eating two.

It SEEMS like the grill was seasoned which made it really tasty.  Speaking of seasoned grills.

Did The Old Rock clean their grill when they got a new cook?  The last time we were there the burgers were well done and bland. Like they took a scouring pad and REALLY got that grill clean.

I can't see why restaurants don't want to pay their cooks more money.  Door Creek Golf Course had a great cook.  But then he wanted more money and they went cheap and said NO!   Three years later, and three cooks later and it seemed none of them knew how to cook.  HEY - I was a cook for many years and know my way around a grill and can tell when someone knows ( and cares) what they are doing.

It took our league 3 years but we left for The Oaks because the food was never as good as the prices represented.   When you order deep fried cheese curds and get deep fried cheese chunks instead, it's not the same.  When a burger is ALWAYS dry and over cooked and all you can get are red onions because it's cheaper to only buy ONE kind of onion, the kind that goes on salads, it's a sign. You know you are not getting food created with love.

NOTE - this coffee is just too hazelnutty for me!!

The restaurant industry is hurting because America is at full employment (actually not a good thing) and nobody wants to work the jobs that pay poorly.

Speaking of the economy.  Volume in shares traded has been small lately ahead of the earnings season which have already been downgraded once.  Most sectors are at their peak and at resistances levels.  Not a good time to enter the market as I suspect a sideways momentum for a while.

Baseball - WHAT has happened to Chris Davis (Baltimore).

In 2013 he hit 53 HRs and drove in 138 RBIs and hit .286.
In 2015 he hit 47 HRs and drove in 117 RBS and hit .262
but
In 2016 he hit 38 HRs and hit .221
In 2017 he hit 26 HRs and hit .215

Last year he had the lowest average EVER in MLB for a full time player hitting .168 with 16 HRs.

Monday Davis broke a record by going the longest anybody has ever gone without getting a hit.  I believe he is 0-47 and has not had a hit since early last September.

OUCH

Did I mention I am running  fumes (of coffee)  The Brewer game got over at 1:00 this morning.  Being retired is awesome!

Rain chain installed.  Or as I like to call it kusari-toi.  I tried it out yesterday with a hose - worked as advertised.  REALLY cool looking. Water just flowed down in a tube like fashion.

Once it rains I'll see where the water flows and add some rocks and so forth. We're on a hill so it flows away from the house naturally.

OH - Kestrel Ridge (now owned by The Oaks).  Already we're seeing changes.  I hit a bag o balls Monday and instead of the garbage old balls with creases they have all brand new range balls.  New golf carts I think and stakes telling golfers where NOT to drive (holes).

The guys that installed our screen asked if any balls had hit it yet.  I said no and he said they installed these screens on a deck in Bishops Bay and a ball hit a screen and bounced, breaking a neighbors window LOL

I think it would break OUR window looking at the trajectory.  12 years no broken windows YET.  A few close ones and some siding cracks.  Normally early in the season when people still think they can golf.

All we need now is the ceiling fan which seems to have a SLIGHTLY larger base then anticipated (fixed this morning).

It will be strange not having construction people on our deck 10 hours a day. It's been busy for a month.

Have a happy storm 1-3 inches. will melt tomorrow  Starting about 1400. Snow starts about 1700 REALLY windy tomorrow and Friday

Rain Sunday turning to slush.  gotta love spring

Cheers
