This and that on a blurry Thursday

Well now I'm REALLY depressed.  After spending most of the night with a giant rock in my stomach and no sleep I took a closer look at my golf game last night and  SIGH!

I was +4 for the first 7 holes and +7 the last 2 holes  DANG!!   Greens were slicker then a bikini wax but that was not the issue.  I did have a wonderful moment before it all went belly up.

On a par 4 I hit a great drive and the second shot way left hitting a tree and dropping down so I had an up hill 30 yard over a deep trap to a hole chip.  The kind where you cannot see the green at all.

Everybody else is in their own golf hell as Bob was in his 4th trap on this one hole and the other 2 are scattered off the green.

I had just parred the last 2 holes and confidence was high as I hit my pitching wedge and to my surprise it did NOT go in the trap and landed just on the edge and disappeared.  I walk up and see no ball.  Where is my ball.  Mike says there is a ball in the trap on the other side.   How the F did that happen as disappointment rears its ugly head.   DAMN IT.

I run back to get my sand wedge and breathlessly go to the trap - and . . . NOT MY BALL!!   WHERE IS MY BALL.

I look in the hole - OH!  There it is.  Birdie!

I will not speak of the last 2 holes

So now I'm seeing photos off Algoma of the tall ships sailing past and an totally envious and will go THERE next time.

This is the Nao Santa Maria a replica of the ship Columbus sailed on.  All of these ships have sailed across the oceans so they are actual ocean going vessels.  The Santa Maria was 62 feet long and 12 feet wide - YIKES   What a tiny ship to be on for months and months.

That's all I have to today on tall ships.

The Packers play 6 games this year where their opponent has extra days off to prepare.  THAT is not a good thing.

The Brewers made minor trades.  Aguilar is gone for a couple arms.  I'm pretty sure the trades would have been different if 1. The trade deadline had not changed dramatically and 2. The Brewers did not have a rash of injuries the last few weeks.

The arms are OK. Don't go by ERA.  Thames is now the full time 1B and the good news is he won't play the outfield anymore, THAT is a bonus.  Thames and Aguilar were basically the same fielding so no real loss there.  Braun and Grandal will play some 1B vs. LHP I suspect.

Looking for a good burger?  In-n-Out is rated the best fast food burger in America (never had one) and Five Guys is #2.   Mooya is too small but I would pit them against Five Guys any day and they would win.

Chick-fil-a is the #1 chicken and I will second that opinion . . .although I have not tried most of the others.

Jersey Mikes is the #1 sub and DJ loves them (just opened near Target).  Yea - I agree, dang good   Firehouse subs is #2 and also very good (near Target)   Jimmy Johns/Big Mikes (same thing) is #4.

Pizza =  Blaze Pizza (never heard of them) is #1 and Papa Murphys is #2

I want to give a shout out to Dave Malone of State Farm (call today for a quote) for donating $3,500 for Christmas decorations.  It's nice to see a person/company that really appreciates and loves Columbus.  Thank You.

Also I want to thank all the individuals that matched American Packaging Corporation and their $100 donation.

And you know what happens today - Yumyum Thi Kitchen  has their "soft" opening today.  Although I don't think advertising a soft opening is really . . . soft . . . . I call it a stress test from the sounds of it.   NOT a hobby restaurant as I BELIEVE Minnie had 4 restaurants in Thailand??? or something like that.

So we have James Street Pizza with authentic New York Style Pizza AND an authentic Thai cuisine.

We humans believe we are the #1 predator in the world,  but no - mosquitoes are the #1. They are very efficient at ending human lives.  700,000 people a year die because of mosquitoes.  An estimate says there have been about 108 BILLION people that have lived on the earth and mosquitoes  and mosquitoes are believe to have killed nearly half of them.

and humans are VERY poor at killing mosquitoes.

WHO KNEW  -seems the ceiling of Notre Dame contained 450 tons of lead which vaporized in the fire.  The air in Paris contains 6 times the safe level of lead.   I'll wait to go to Paris.  The city of lead.

Everybody is all up in arms over plastic.  No straws, no bags, yet nobody talks about cigarette butts.  A staggering 5.72 million plastic cigarette butts were cleaned from our waterways in 2018.  14% of cigarette smokers do not believe tossing a butt is litter and 65% of the cigarettes consumed in the U.S. were tossed onto roadways.
