It's the Columbus dump.
Many of you don' know that Columbus has a dump but every few days we see people drive up in pick-ups and off load all sorts of random garbage. Normally it's a load of mulch and . . . . . a chair or maybe parts to a stove or old microwave. We were told only lawn clippings and other yard waste was deposited there. Well, that was just blowing smoke our or butts.
We just have to wait for summer weeds to cover and hide everything on the growing pile of rubbish.
And one more tiny tiny thing. No one around here can hear Tornado sirens. I didn't want to mention it because next thing I know I'll have one in my back yard. THAT WILL SHOW ME!!!
I think we will have to buy a weather radio to wake us up at night. I would leave the computer speakers on because my weather station runs 24/7 but then we would wake up with "YOUR VIRUS DATABASE HAS BEEN UPDATED". Scared the crap out of us the first time we heard THAT at two in the morning.

FIRE FIRE at Universal. There is a huge fire raging at Universial City Studios with over three blocks of movie facades and movie sets being destroyed. The King Kong exhibit building has been completely destroyed along with facades of New York City. More then 200 firefighters are on the scene. At this point at 9:40 in the Morning firefighters on on Defense with this fire and are only trying to contain it.

I found this and really want to try it. It shows the BEST way to fold shirts and pants into a suitcase. COOL!!!
----------------------------And finally Postcard #5 has been sent for printing on Monday. Number 6 is in the works and it sounds like Sharrow Drug is asking for a special request postcards that will be in the works soon.

ReplyDeleteWhy don't they at least have a fence around that dump? Unbelievably, most dumps are locked most of the time (to prevent dropping off unacceptable items, I presume). We really are the town that stood still in time, aren't we? :p

Dumps are a constant eye sore around here... except the arent "real" dumps, just people polluting the area by dumping their trash etc.... sad, very sad.

There is a home/business (auto body shop) up the street from us. They have a pile of old furniture on the side of the house that is a real eye-sore! Really makes me think that someone that lets their property look like that wouldn't take much care of your automobile if they were working on it either! I think any place that allows dumping should have trees or a fence to disguise it!

Interestingly enough about this fire...MTV Awards are scheduled to show tonight, and they are still going to go as planned, even though it's at the Studio. If JD fans were unaware, he's supposed to be a presenter as well as (hopefully) be there to accept awards for Best comedic performance and Best Villain. Go Jack and Sweeney! Also, Pirates 3 is up for best movie...

ReplyDeleteThe north side of little Lost Lake used to be a dump back in the '50s, maybe '60s. Occasionally the strangest thing will wash up on shore. Last fall it was the plastic front piece of what looked like a small arcade game, probably a very expensive toy at the time for someone. I shudder to think what else is down there.

ReplyDeleteFilm vault is ok.... its the video vault that is on fire currently... they are remvoing as many videos as they can. The head of Universal said that the old films are safe.
ReplyDeleteLast report I heard is taht 3 fireman were injured: smoke inhalation and minor burns.

ReplyDeleteOdd thing about fire vaults. During the SF Earthquake many vaults were fire proof. The problem was that they go SO hot that had to be allowed 3 weeks to a month to coll down.

The films are safe. It is the video vault (mostly tv shows) that burned. There are copies of these videos elsewhere so nothing was lost. Also the Court House Square (Back to the Future) was lost and the sets from the Ghost Wisperer was destroyed.
ReplyDeleteThe theater where the MTV will be is away from the fire and is safe. The only danger is from smoke if the wind shifts.
If they need a new court house for Back to the Future . . . 4 - they can use Columbus City Hall.

I just got back from the matinee! Looked for Suz & M but didn't see them. I went with three of my BFF, and LAUGHED a ton. I loved the movie - it's the perfect chick flick, in my opinion. Laughs, men's butts, romance, etc.
