My Friends

Well my friends - I don't have much today. On the way to work on US 151 we were approaching the Diesel Truck Driving School when things started to slow down and then stop.

We waited and waited and started moving slowly but all that was happening was that they were rerouting all the southbound traffic . . . north.

So 1:15 after we left home I got to work. And that my friends is how my day started.

You might have noticed the dapper Maverick on the left. This is actually created by Hollywood Wisconsin, remember him?? These are window posters he has created and they are for sale for $25. HOWEVER - all McCain window posters are $50. $25 go to the artist and $25 goes to the the Obama for America ‘08 campaign.

Go to John (or Fred's - not sure) website for more info or drive through Columbus, I think it is across from Columbus Carriage Works.
===================

I was talking to a friend this morning and maybe DJ and I will have to make a trip over to the Grumpy Troll in Mount Horeb.

Mt Horeb is a town of about 6000, perhaps 1000 more the Columbus and the Grumpy Troll is a BrewPub that was started by a home brewer that worked in our building (still tracking her down).

Just out of curiosity - that's all.
======================

OK - I'm stalling here - can not think of a dang that does not have to do with beer. BTW - I have a new name for batch #5. Flat Squirrel Amber - thanks balderdash for helping me on that one. The label might be a challenge. I'm up to batch #9 now and looking into going ALL GRAIN!!! Means nothing to most but it's a quantum jump in quality and technique. I need to buy a 40 quart cooler and augment it.

OH - I used Sean's fresh hops last night - almost killed the garbage disposal when I was done. Fresh hops REALLY make a mess! The were potent though.

I BE MASHING!!!
===================
Jenny sent a bunch of photos and one reminded me of The Great American Road Trip. Here is THEIR photo and next is MY photo from almost the same spot. I remember when I took this because I stopped the car and jumped out and ran across the desert. DJ had a huge "?" above her head and yelled "WHERE ARE YOU GOING???"

I kept doing this all vacation. STOP, jump out and leave her behind wondering if I'll ever come back.

And mine

I kept hoping for clouds but I never saw any.

Cheers
Rod

  1. These posters are in someone's windows downtown Columbus, too! Cracked me up that McCain's is $50.

    Grumpy Troll is yummy! It's been awhile, so I don't remember much, but I remember I liked both their food & their beer.

  3. Grinderman, thanks for the mention and the link! I'm hoping to get some more Obama signs up in the downtown area soon.

    I have also kicked around the idea of creating a Sarah Palin Halloween card, but I am afraid it might be TOO scary. Even for Halloween.

  12. Rod, good to hear that you used the hops. Yep, they do make a mess but I think it is worth it. Glad to hear they are potent, I have yet to brew with any hops from this year.

    BTW, I have been busy so I forgot to thank everyone I mer at the Kurth last Friday for being super welcoming and very friendly. What a great scene!

    I also have to give the Grumpy Troll a thumbs up. The beer is good, the food is fun (and good) and the space is very cool.
