The cars of the 2009 Public Enemies Celebration. Yea - the color sucks but it's a pain in the butt to change AGAIN!
What I need is somebody to tell me WHO these people are and what car make of car they are.

Yesterday was an exciting day for sure with our server migration. I'm sure it was a toss and turn night for all involved but for us guys in the trenches it was just a server migrain-tion.
First we had to reboot and everybody but ME were sitting around staring at odd colored screens while my machine was running perfectly. Not good. So I started to type a blog knowing that my time was short. All of a sudden my computer started to grind away and "closing down" popped up. QUICK - PUBLISH!! So then I had four techies in my cube running odd things and then a gray box pops up. One guy says "What's that" another guy says "never seen that one before" third guy has a nervous giggle and the fourth guy is still talking about cameras.
Yea - like he see's my camera and because I take photos and own a Nikon I MUST know every camera on the market. Why do people do this. They instantly think that because I'm a "photographer" that I'm "into" cameras.
I also listen to music and I put together a GREAT home theater, should I know every receiver on the market? No. I learn what I have to "AT THAT TIME" and then move on.
ANYWAY - Others are finally getting control of their computers (after 1.5 hours) and they fiddle with mine and go away.
At 11:00 we have Phase two. EVERYBODY reboot. So we all start to reboot and the word comes to NOT REBOOT! One hour later we get an email saying the migration is canceled until today.
It's all going like clockwork.
sigh!

My garden is like a huge buffet for bees and monarchs! The good thing is that they are so busy collecting pollen they have no time to worry about me taking photos so I'm not getting stung.
The bee's are not worried about me either.

Speaking of changes. The Columbus Rotary Club is changing it's name to The Rotary Club of Columbus/Fall River. One step closer to taking over the entire nation, one town at a time.
Where will it stop.
Did you see Radio Shack is changing their name also. It is unknown if this was do to the The Rotary Club of Columbus/Fall River changing their name but Radio Shack is now . . . wait for it . . . . . . . The Shack!!
WOW - that is so trendy I'm intestines moved a little when I heard that. If I'm going to the The Shack should I include that extra "the"? I'm always unsure.

Friday - how about making it a Kurth night - should be warm and we can all be outside for a few beers. BTW - did you see that the Kurth family donated a granite bench in the Columbus Veterans' Memorial in Fireman's Park in honor of their son Hans.
For those who do not know Hans was killed in Iraq by an IED in 2004 and was a member of The Big Red One which had just taken control of Tikrit earlier that morning. He was one of the very first of our protectors to be killed in Iraq (like 4th or 5th??). I don't care what you think of wars but you have to have the highest regard for our solders.

HEY - the Worlds Largest Traditional Tent Circus is coming to town. The tent is a football size affair and all are welcome to come watch it get set up.
One thing people worry about (as I do) are the animals. PETA (I'm anti-PETA if you must know) came down on circuses and there was an investigation. It was found that The Carson and Barnes Circus takes very good care of their animals including the elephants.
OK - here is the thing about PETA. That adopt animals to find homes for them right? They have a budget of $2.6 MILLION a month. Documents show that in 2008 PETA took in 2,216 cats and dogs and found homes for . . . . . 7. The rest were euthanized. When this report came out PETA said ""[M]ost of the animals we receive are broken beings for whom euthanasia is, without a doubt, the most humane option.". WOW - out of 2,216 only 7 were adoptable? And since 1998, 21,339 were "broken" and only 14% were adoptable while a shelter that does the EXACT same thing found homes for 77%?
Don't get me started with PETA - that is ONLY the tip of the iceberg. I mean really - what was PETA's latest thing "PETA has proposed to Ben & Jerry's ice cream that they start using human breast milk". Yea - OK - I can see that one being a big seller. Ben & Jerry's Peanut Hooter cups! Has anybody ever tried to market breast milk before?
And people fund them at the tune of $32 million a year for this non-profit group?
PETA sickens me.
WOW - where did that come from. LOL
=================================
BTW - I'm reading "Horse Soldiers: The Extraordinary Story of a Band of US Soldiers Who Rode to Victory in Afghanistan". GREAT book - I had chills during the 911 area. Seems Special Forces new exactly who to go after. BTW - Special Forces is a group like the Navy Seals and the other covert organizations except they are also diplomats first, killers second and re builders third.
Funny - they deployed only weeks after 911 and could not wait for the normal military to get them equipment so they shopping. Gandar Mountain, Fontana, Battery Plus basically buying the entire stores.

Be sure to tune in tomorrow as I mention a Historic Columbus landmark that will soon be tumbling down! THE HORROR!!! The beacon in the north that rises majestically beckoning travelers going south to move on.
Cheers!
Rod
Greater than usual blog today, Rod. Course, I'll miss the Friday festivities, but sigh....
ReplyDeleteFinally some political ground we agree upon. PETA is worth less than even I thought, seeing those stats. Pathetic.
Can't wait for tomorrow's updates and insights! :)
Great Blog!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back online!LOL!!
Glad you were able to finish from yesterday~
Absolutely love the pink flower photo with the bee. Stunning!
Kurth might work!
Peta~ Blahhhhhhhh
Hope everyone has a great day!
Rod, I might be able to help you identify some of the cars but not the owners.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Hans was killed by an IED not an IUD. Big difference, unfortunate typo.
I will miss Kurth on Friday- a mini-reunion with a couple of friends from high school...next time! Cool pics Rod! Bring some to the Gallery! :)
