Columbus Community Hospital jumps the shark

What the hell are they thinking.  The wonderful, well known Columbus Community Hospital that was the pride of the citizens of Columbus decided to change their name to Prairie Ridge Health . . . . . something.  Clinic?  Health Club? in competition with Anytime Fitness?  And they changed it for no reason but to just change things up.

So now nobody will not know where it is.  Instead of lets go to Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus,  it's let's go to Prairie Ridge Health . . . . which is somewhere, maybe Sun Prairie ?  Seems the most obvious place for anything named "Prairie"

Bad bad branding I say and then the article says  EVERYONE LOVES it.  NO - nobody loves it (well some must).  It's a slight to the entire community.  Citizens were PROUD to have a hospital in town that advertised "we" had something special that other towns did not have.  A hospital. Now all we have is a health that is in multiple cities that have nothing to do with Columbus at all.

The only thing changing is the name - SO WHY CHANGE!!!!   You had a good thing going right?  "We are succeeding so, LET'S CHANGE"?

"We were conscious of what the name means to the Columbus community.”  So they ignored it?

"Russell said the name change has received positive feedback from its stakeholders and the community".  Really?  Who did they ask?  I have not heard one person say they liked it. (OK - now I have heard three out of maybe 50 that dislike it).

Just shows a lack of community in my book.

Prairie Ridge Health is a company - Columbus Hospital is a place.  See the difference?  We were proud of "Columbus" Community Hospital.

But it will blow over.  We lost a hospital and gained a Health.

In other news Countryside Ford will change their name to Open Field Car and Columbus Chemical Industries is changing to Just Off the Highway Substance.  The Columbus Country Club will now be the Hertz Rent a Car Golf Club.   It's juts a name right?

Side note - did I give Columbus Chamber of Commerce permission to use my photo on their front page of their website?  I must have at some point.  I don't remember it though. I wish they would have used a better quality color image.
