My buddy Elweed is hopping mad and THIS time for a good reason.   He has 3 sisters and one brother.  Two sisters and one brother are big Trump supporters and one sister and himself are sane and big, ANYBODY but trump supporters.

His sister lives in Fort Atkinson and takes care of his 96 year old mom.

WELL

One sister and one brother live in Florida and believe Covid19 is a big liberal hoax because that is what the President  has told them.  They wanted to come up and visit but his mom did not think that was a good idea.   Well, they made her feel guilty so they hopped on a plane from Florida the Covid capital of the world to visit 96 year old mom because they guilt tripped her.   

Nothing will happen because it's a liberal hoax.  RIGHT?   NOW - the sane sister who listens to science can't really visit for a few weeks because mom is in self quarantine.

So - he is REALLY pissed.

Speaking of  dark comedy propaganda, the RNC.  They literally came out and said the platform for the next four years is to follow whatever the acting President says AND they will use, AGAIN, the same platform they used in 2016

Biden is outspending Trump by 8-1 in battle ground states.  Seems Trump does not have a very big war chest as the NRA and Koch Brothers and MANY big donors are sitting this one out.   The NRA has their own issues with the leaders being investigated for fraud as they spent MILLIONS on fun stuff for themselves and little went to the actual organization.

Now I understand - many many studies have shown that people with mental disorders are sort of cured with Psilocybin.  As seems in brain scans, things are just not connecting up there in the noggin but a good trip cures things.

The patient is in a safe area and has people there so they won't trip out.  One woman had a VERY bad trip but is fine and much better. Some have AMAZING trips with colors and the whole deal and BAM - it's amazing as she is much more cognizant.  WHO KNEW!

I turn on the RNC for a laugh and this mean lady is screaming and yelling at me saying the world is totally messed up and ONLY the acting President (who messed it up) can fix the problems he alone created.  She was very scary.

But then a nice man came on and said if the Democrats win we will have a "socialist utopia" which sounds pretty good since it would be an imagined or state of things in which everything is perfect. 

Thank God even Republicans believe a Democrat should win.   Actually 28 former Republican Congresspeople are backing Biden.   I'n not actually backing Biden, I'm AGAINST the acting President who has zero idea what his platform is except making everybody yes men to him and stealing more money from Americans.

And seriously - Did Don Trump Jr looked totally BAKED?  Was he smoking a spliff before he went on?   Red eyes, squinty and REALLY sweating.

Gus was SO confused last night - "my mommy and daddy go to bed and take off  my collar and then daddy gets up and goes to his office and comes back and mommy gets up and then they put my collar on and then . . WE GO WATCH TV IN THE BASEMENT!  I'm so confused, I thought it was bed time.  Then after watching TV for a little while mommy and daddy go BACK to bed.

This is what happened - A little after 11:00 radar indicated a Tornado and a WARNING went out that included Columbus.  At 11:15 I commented on facebook "Where are the sirens?"    But the tornado veered south while the main strom kept on track.

  
The good thing was it took peoples attention away from the assessments that everybody got in Columbus.  Our house went up $41,000 but the % seemed to be about the same everywhere and people were having a FIT!

PGA2k21 review

Four or five years ago I decided to get back into virtual golf.  I picked up a Tiger Woods game for cheap as it was the only one I knew this decade.   After spending that $10 I saw Rory was the actual newest game by EA Sports. 

Pure arcade and then literally a few days later I saw some chatter about The Golf Club. Created by a small group in Canada that was challenging EA Sports.

SO - after spending $$ on Tiger and a little more $$ on Rory I spend MORE $$ on The Golf Club. 

SADLY I picked up The Golf Club ONE WEEK before The Golf Club 2 came out (TGC2).

SO - I purchased TGC2 and it was amazing.  The graphics were a little rough but the ball flight dynamics were fantastic and it took a little skill to play.

After a year of playing TGC2 TGC19 came out a big leap in everything. Graphics were fantastic the ball flight and hitting was honed in and the Course design, while over MY head was drawing  attention to some REALLY courses. 

I played TGC19 for two years and NOW - 2K has been added to the HB Studios and this is a generational leap in virtual golf. 

YES - I have been obsessing over this since Thursday night midnight and all weekend.  I had to tell DJ to just bare with me for a few days.   When TGC19 came out as luck would have it DJ was REALLY sick in bed.  WHAT LUCK.  I spent the whole weekend playing and making sure she had ice and anything else and she wold go back to sleep for hours - PERFECT!

no luck this year.  But she was diamond "painting" all weekend so no worries. 

 A round takes about 45 minutes  and add a large number of hours on the driving range and menu searching.  After 12 rounds . . . . I am up to BAD using "Pro" clubs.

On Tour MASTER clubs will be used.  I'm +4 to +8 using Pro clubs.  MASTER clubs I have rage quit a few times when I'm +7 after 4 holes.  There is a Legendary setting and no streamer has hit under par yet.

ANYWAY.  this is an amazing piece of software.  Everything is customizable with 6 difficulty levels  with PRO (what I have been playing) being #4. 

The courses included are rather simple but with new courses being ported over every day from the old software they will get better. 

They have taken away chart making.  With the old game you could use charts in clubs and wind and elevation. Golf was a math problem (like real life golf)   wind was one click for every MPH,  elevation was 30 feet up or down was add or subtract 10 yards.

WELL - no more clicking. Anything where you could click is now a joy stick. The high the loft the more wind effects the ball.  Now you can put spin on the ball but it comes with a small forgiveness penalty.

The more you play the more XPs you earn to buy new clubs.  Each club has 6 different ratings.  Longer clubs have less forgiveness and so forth.  and there are 20 different sets to choose from.  On the right is an example.  The WHITE line is what I have now and the red and green show what happens with if you purchase this club. 

less distance shot shaping (drawing and so forth) is easier, and forgiveness (swinging too fast or slow) is better but your swing plane is far harder BUT you can control distance easier.   

Handicaps are fixed so that make actual sense.  Putting is harder as they made the holes a little smaller. They took away the PUNCH shot but my lowering the attack angel AND closing the loft of the club you can do a PUNCH.
you can mix and match sets.

Its MUCH easier to take an 80% shot now.  Before it was 100% and loft or de-loft for distance control.  Now you can do basically anything.  And it's hard.

Joystick calibration is a thing so XBox, PS4 and PC are all on lever playing fields.  The two new platforms Twitch and something else are a small problem.

Difficulty levels.  The Beginner lever is basically arcade and useless but to learn the game it's there and EVERYTHING in the HUD is customizable.  so so many things. 

I'm not a designer but it seems they are a happy lot.  SO - OVERALL I'm very happy.  Sadly TGCTours will make EVERYONE play MASTERS. 

Like actual real golf there is an explosion in players. TGCTous started season 6 with maybe 2000 players,  TGCTours ended with about 5000.  But that ain't nothing.

Streamers that play rounds online and review the game have seen their followers go from 20,000 to over 100,000 in a week.  Like Kestrel Ridge, I have NEVER seen so many people golfing this year on Kestrel. 

SO - if you have $60 to spare and want to virtual golf on software that is FAR better than anything ever created before check out PGA2K21.

The GOOD news is I went down from 2 mg of prednisone to 1.5mg and my body is rebelling a bit as my PMR spiked up about 10% and the side issue is my left knee swelled up a bit.  meloxicam in my future which SHOULD calm things down for a week at least until my body figures out what it needs to do (it has done great so far).

SERIOUSLY - don't take your youth for granted. ANY issue you have now will be WAY WAY worse when you hit 60s.  I wish I would have stopped playing softball earlier in my life to save my knees. 

Sports when "young" will REALLY slow you down when you get near retirement.

I've been busy in the mornings lately.  Yesterday I drove to Spectrum in Madison which is now right on The Wash next to Five Guys and switched out my router which . . . did absolutely nothing. Speeds is still about 100 meg DL.  SHOULD be in the 220 range as it's been for a year. 

Now I'm spending all day finding things I need to change the passwords on.  At least my refrigerator did not need updating.

PGA2K21 drops tonight about 11:00  going to be a late night.    OH strat-o-matic.

My team started off strong and I was bragging going into July with a 52-29 record.  July?  GULP  I was 11-16. Upon further review I was resting some good players and playing literally nothing but teams above .500.  I dropped out of first but ended the month going strong this month 15-2 to finish the month and 20-7 in August.

NEXT YEAR - I doubt I will win 60 games.  I only have 1 starting pitcher playing and lost 3 starting players with year ending injuries and cancer.   PLUS - I will have bad draft picks so . . . looking at rebuilding after 4 years in the 90 win area.

The residents of Nashville gave 13 million in tax breaks to build a waterpark. The issue - nobody in Nashville can actually go to the water park as it's an exclusive park only for out of town residents for a hotel.  Now we all know that waterparks and hotels are not a thriving business model at the moment. SO - for $50 a day Nashville residents can go there to spread Covid.

OK - talked to Spectrum  about our internet speeds.  They are pushing 280meg download INTO the house but are unsure why we are only getting 110 of them.  They could tell exactly who and what devices are using data and we are fine.  BUT - looking we are not using much data so . . they are stumped and sending someone out Sunday.

The Jahnke's now have a snow removal company.  I mention this as we had one last year when I THOUGHT I needed a knee replacement.  The people we hired always added a couple inches onto the actual snow amount (not a good customer to do that with) which doubled the $$.

PGA2K21

WELL HELLO - My world is all excited this week - BUT FIRST - I NEVER put two and two together before.   

When I was growing up in my impressionable stage I lived at 420 Jones Avenue in Fort Atkinson. 

FOUR TWENTY!!!    I was doomed from the very start of my life.

ANYWAY - for any golfers out there who dabble in virtual golf  the game we have been literally waiting for all of our lives comes out Thursday.   HB Studios has made a MAJOR improvement on their The Golf Club software and LITERALLY listened to everybody's suggestions. 

Seriously - I have never heard a group of testers get more excited.   PGA2K21 is crazy good for the serious virtual golfer.

So many things.  One big problem was Xbox, PC and PS4 all had slightly different swings because of the hardware being used.  NOW - you can calibrate your swing as often as you like so the three platforms are all equal. 

You can also choose different clubs with each club having a different charistic. Want more yards? you can have them but you will sacrifice forgiveness or maybe shot shaping or being able to control the distance.  So instead of  Beginner clubs, Pro Clubs and Master Clubs there are now SIX different skill levels and thousands of combinations of clubs to use.   want a different 7I to spin the ball more?  Want a 6I that will give you more yardage but less forgiving?   

This game is SO customizable.  The career mode is crazy good.  The announcers have over 20,000 comments and of course the course creator is so so good if you get into it.

Of course TGCTours will have their tours going but are taking a month off to re-code everything and make new rules.     

The course designers who got the early version are all going nuts and the pure golfers that got it early are all super excited at the roll-out 

Seriously  So many amazing things in this game/sim its crazy BUT . . . it's harder.  ApexHound has a good review of the software if curious

The trip to the mailbox

DJ and I were sitting around wondering what to so when I realize nobody had gone to the mailbox for their daily does of excitement.  I called DIBS!  and took Gus out to see what exciting things we got in the mail today -  GOLF BALLS!!   How exciting is that.

Srixon Q-Stars.  Their core is super soft in the middle but gets progressively harder as it nears the surface.  OH - I can see my handicap going from a 20.3 to 15 with these babies . . . .  if I don't lose them all.

I wanted to mention yesterday I passed a mile stone.  MAN DID THAT HURT!!    NO NO NO

I passed 1 hour total of planking on my Stealth Core trainer.  I could plank for about 2 minutes without the trainer but with this it was more like 30 seconds.  I'm up to 1:45.

Getting my workout 1 minutes 45 seconds a day!

Went to #JimmyJohns  in Columbus yesterday and as I drove up a woman walked out with a HUGE pouty look on her face and waited outside in the sun.  NO MASK!   I hopped out of the car and in one swift smooth motion put my mask on and entered. 

Got my sub, walked out and she is still there looking a little pissed.  My mask comes off, hop in the car and drive off. She was still there with arms crossed and pouting.

HAPPY Thursday! getting back into it

Well hello again.  geez - being in "quarantine" really silences any exciting adventures in my life.

Let's see.  While I wait for Spectrum to call me back about my internet speeds (was 225+)  and now <90 nbsp="" p="">
The Golf gods have left me.  I was doing so well and then . . .GONE!   Actually it's only been a few rounds where I lost the magic off the tee.  I THOUGHT I was doing everything I was doing before but it didn't feel right, I was missing some important key.

Then last night at The Oaks I was struggling the first 4 or 5 holes but near the end of the round I realized the issue  .  HOWEVER . . I had a par 3 up next and then the 14th where if I hit my driver as I SHOULD I would overshoot the fairway so I had to wait until the short par 5 15th..

NOTE - I was just looking at yardage and I don't believe this either - the tee box must have been far up.

So back tracking a bit.  On the 14th I hit my 5W into the junk so I dropped my ball in the appropriate spot and ONCE AGAIN - hit a perfect 6I to 4 inches from the far end of the fairway.  My 6I was the club of the day it seems as it was doing exactly what I wanted a few times already (remember that for the near of the story).

So.  I tee the ball up and THIS TIME - bring my hips back into the party and BLAST the ball straight and long  . . .really long.   So long that my second shot was only 140 yards.  No really.  The card says the hole is 437 which would mean my drive was 297????

ANYWAY - my second shot lands about 12 yards short of the hole, I chip and get a birdie and feeling pretty cocky.

Par on the next hole and SHOULD have been a par on the 180 par 3 but the ball seemed to take a right angle 2 inches from the hole for a bogie.

HOWEVER - the real test is the 18th.  Looking at the last seven times I have played this hole I have shot   7,7,7,6,7,8,7 on a par 5   NOT AWESOME

Drive is PERFECT, next show is a perfect 6I to exactly where I wanted it.   I'm crazy excited as I'm 150 from the hole and I have the perfect club in my hand, my 6I.

Take my back swing but I want to make sure I get over the 130 yards of death so I swing a little harder.  I feel my right shoulder dip just a little and I come down and take a big divot BEFORE the ball and the ball flys hot 3 feet off the ground about 100 yards.   NOOOOOOOOOOO!!    WELL - I let out a few very foul words (which is rare for golf . . . not rare when I called Glen Grothman and told him what I thought of his 5 robo calls a few nights ago . . I think I shocked DJ).

I took a 7.    45 for the 9 holes.   sigh!

I've been "bragging" about how my knee has been doing so well.  Seriously - outstanding - no real pain unless I put in 4000 steps.

Then last night I go to bed and something is weird.  I feel a little PMR pain.  My ass hurts a little laying down and I just feel sore in my shoulders.  And my knee hurts. 

Last night I tossed and turned with a knee pain.  sigh.  Time to take a Meloxicam for the third time in a year.   I'm down to 2mg of prednisone which is good.  Maybe I'll get less cranky.  Well, that might end late November anyway.
