Stochastic Terrorism / Home Depot makes it good.

Golfers are funny.

Living a pitching wedge off the 16th tee at Kestrel Ridge is sometimes humorish,  from watching a guy break his driver over his leg (on purpose) to what happened Sunday evening.

We were on the patio letting Gus get grounded (negatively charged ions from the earth) and a guy was teeing off.  You can hear how well a ball is struck by the sound and this did not go far.  So he tee'd up another one,  CLANK  so he tee'd up another one  WHAP and we hear "I think I'm in that guys yard"   so he tee's up another one.  CLANK  and them WHAP as the ball hits a house.

Then the two golfers decide to let the foursome play through!  LOL  YEA - let somebody else take the heat!

***************************

So our Stochastic Terrorist** President is blaming video games for american white male mass murders.  Ignorance is running wild in the White House.  Other countries have video games with no mass shootings with weapons created for mass shootings.

Maybe its Rock Music.

If ISIS killed 43 Americans and injured 54 would we be blaming video games?  Charles Manson didn't kill anybody either. All he did was urge his followers to murder.

** Stochastic Terrorism - the public demonization of a person or group resulting in the incitement of a violent act, which is statistically probable but whose specifics cannot be predicted.

** Stochastic Terrorist - is certain his inflammatory rhetoric will stir up violence. He does not know exactly what will happen or who will do it or where or when.

America has never seen such a small, vindictive, and evil man in our White house.  At this point, if you still support Trump there is something seriously wrong with your character.

At least all the Gun Stocks made money yesterday when everybody else was falling off a cliff.

MEANWHILE - 11 GOP House of Reps are not seeking reelection while only 2 DNC are resigning.  stay tuned as more GOP jump off the sinking ship of deplorables.

Home Depot makes it good.

Remember our issue with Home Depot where we ordered a few large blinds (like 12x12 large)  and  have them installed way way back on May 27th?

WELL - tomorrow they are suppose to be installed, 72 days later.  WELL - As you would think I complained to a number of places about this and will be getting $200 off and they moved up the date up by 1 week.  The sad part is the installer is driving 2.5 hours to get here.  I hope he is getting paid.

Seems once the Better Business Bureau got involved Home Depot acted with alacrity to us.

*********************

And speaking of  our deck/porch augmentation - seems the builders are going to enter our build into a remodeling awards contest.

I think I lost weight

Only 16% of american workers are in a union and it shows. In France the minimum wage is 62% percent of its median wage, in Britain it's 54%, but in the U.S. it’s only 34%.   YET - joining a union will give you free education into the trades that are SO MUCH needed now with our lack of workers.

Yum Yum TOO YUMMY

"ge"

Yea - the above is what was left of a blog on Friday after I accidentally deleted the whole thing . . .  SOMEHOW.  Then of course blogger does save periodically which I also managed to delete by accident.

I don't know how many of you write but I just type what is coming out of my tiny brain with no preconceived plan on where I'm heading so recreating anything is pretty much impossible.  Once it's typed move on.  You are inside my brain when you read blogs (sad isn't it).

This is pretty much a way to test my senility over the years.  I'm like Trump.

Read things he has said 10 years ago and compare them to today.  SAD how his mental powers have REALLY decreased.  I has lost over 40% of his words.  I think I'm at "down 10%".

Crossing the draw bridge in Sturgeon Bay we had to wait so I snapped a few images.

And this one was just of a sign I liked which made a blah photo but I tweaked it just a tad.

HEY - better then no photo at all I say.

And then there is the story of the Yum Yum Thai Food restaurant that opened AND closed in Columbus over the weekend.

The Yum Yum Thai Food by Minnie was a MUCH anticipated restaurant that had a "soft" YET advertised opening Thursday and was swamped.

Then the Grand opening this past weekend and was REALLY swamped.  I mean it was BAD.  Gordon Ramsey would have been screaming and swearing all night.

In fact it was SO bad they have temporarily closed to figure things out.  Not because the food was bad as reports say the food was magnificent, just not enough if it.

SO - of course people went onto social media blasting the restaurant for not being prepared for opening day.

COLUMBUS - We Beg For You To Open in Our City, But If You Mess Up On Opening Weekend - We Will Trash You On Social Media

Won't You Be My Neighbor

The sign says they have suspended operations but I feel this is a language thing and hopefully it means "temporarily suspended operations".   They desperately need more help and cannot find it.

If only there were a group of qualified people that WANT to work in America and would take work seriously (as this is an issue).   Where O where can America find more workers that would  come to our country and do hard work.

America DOES have a huge problem finding workers to fill the millions of job openings.

I KNOW! - farmers.   Since China announced that they will cease buying agriculture produce from America because of the war maybe farmers can be our new immigrants.  They will have nothing to do soon. Is that the plan Donald?  They are white for the most part.

PUTTING FARMERS BACK TO WORK
is that 2020 slogan?

NOTE - I see the stock market is down 500 this morning.  THANK YOU President Trump.

OH - Trump was just on TV saying we should all remember the victims of Toledo and blaming video games on the massacres along with sniffing repeatably and slurring his words.

Yea - we're in good hands.

I wonder if Mitch McConnell's injury was related to his lack of a functioning spine. (quote from The Ump - I love you man! )

******************

My quest to be one game out of the playoff begins this month.

I cannot beat the best team this year (3-11 so far) and my first 24 games are against the 3 best pitching teams in the league and ALL are in MY division.  I have the best hitting team but 24 games against an average ERA of 2.94 is going to be a rough one.

PLUS I have to rest a bunch in my bullpen because of so many extra inning games and my best in the pen are all a little short of innings.

I look at next year and rub my hands with glee at the offense and then look at my pitching staff and . . . . LOOK AWAY  LOOK AWAY.   I have only 2 real starters so I need innings.  Justin Verlander will be available for a HUGE price and  he has 3 years left I feel.

Finally watched Captain Marvel.  Pretty average meet and greet movie.  Glad I saw it. Don't want to see it AGAIN!

********************

The average bedtime for a kindergartner is 8:30 (adjusted to 7:30 for central time?)  Kindergartners get 30 minutes LESS sleep time then in 1970

+++

The number if high schoolers going into the petroleum exploration business is down 61% in the last 4 years.  67% of students graduating consider doing a job that contributes to climate change to be unethical, and 91% care about working for an ethical company.

the average age for a petroleum exploration worker is 42.2

Remember high school plays?  I was in Brigadoon (sward dancer) and The Music Man.

The #1 show in High School now?

The Addams Family (really?  that is a show?)
Mamma Mia
The Little Mermaid
Beauty and the Beast
Mary Poppins

Weather - Columbus has been warmer then Madison the last 3 or 4 days by a couple degrees.  Reason?  CORN!

Corn sweats and as it does it raises the moisture content of the surrounding air which traps heat and with the somewhat stagnant air we have been warmer then the normal warm cement covered island called Madison.

Expect the larger storms today nearing sunset - some COULD contain large hail and wind.  Same with Wednesday which will be a carbon copy of today.  After Wednesday it cools off to the Upper 70s for a week.

Expect about 1 inch of rain between now and Wednesday night.

This and that on a blurry Thursday

Well now I'm REALLY depressed.  After spending most of the night with a giant rock in my stomach and no sleep I took a closer look at my golf game last night and  SIGH!

I was +4 for the first 7 holes and +7 the last 2 holes  DANG!!   Greens were slicker then a bikini wax but that was not the issue.  I did have a wonderful moment before it all went belly up.

On a par 4 I hit a great drive and the second shot way left hitting a tree and dropping down so I had an up hill 30 yard over a deep trap to a hole chip.  The kind where you cannot see the green at all.

Everybody else is in their own golf hell as Bob was in his 4th trap on this one hole and the other 2 are scattered off the green.

I had just parred the last 2 holes and confidence was high as I hit my pitching wedge and to my surprise it did NOT go in the trap and landed just on the edge and disappeared.  I walk up and see no ball.  Where is my ball.  Mike says there is a ball in the trap on the other side.   How the F did that happen as disappointment rears its ugly head.   DAMN IT.

I run back to get my sand wedge and breathlessly go to the trap - and . . . NOT MY BALL!!   WHERE IS MY BALL.

I look in the hole - OH!  There it is.  Birdie!

I will not speak of the last 2 holes

So now I'm seeing photos off Algoma of the tall ships sailing past and an totally envious and will go THERE next time.

This is the Nao Santa Maria a replica of the ship Columbus sailed on.  All of these ships have sailed across the oceans so they are actual ocean going vessels.  The Santa Maria was 62 feet long and 12 feet wide - YIKES   What a tiny ship to be on for months and months.

That's all I have to today on tall ships.

****************************

The Packers play 6 games this year where their opponent has extra days off to prepare.  THAT is not a good thing.

The Brewers made minor trades.  Aguilar is gone for a couple arms.  I'm pretty sure the trades would have been different if 1. The trade deadline had not changed dramatically and 2. The Brewers did not have a rash of injuries the last few weeks.

The arms are OK. Don't go by ERA.  Thames is now the full time 1B and the good news is he won't play the outfield anymore, THAT is a bonus.  Thames and Aguilar were basically the same fielding so no real loss there.  Braun and Grandal will play some 1B vs. LHP I suspect.

Looking for a good burger?  In-n-Out is rated the best fast food burger in America (never had one) and Five Guys is #2.   Mooya is too small but I would pit them against Five Guys any day and they would win.

Chick-fil-a is the #1 chicken and I will second that opinion . . .although I have not tried most of the others.

Jersey Mikes is the #1 sub and DJ loves them (just opened near Target).  Yea - I agree, dang good   Firehouse subs is #2 and also very good (near Target)   Jimmy Johns/Big Mikes (same thing) is #4.

Pizza =  Blaze Pizza (never heard of them) is #1 and Papa Murphys is #2

*****************

I want to give a shout out to Dave Malone of State Farm (call today for a quote) for donating $3,500 for Christmas decorations.  It's nice to see a person/company that really appreciates and loves Columbus.  Thank You.

Also I want to thank all the individuals that matched American Packaging Corporation and their $100 donation.

And you know what happens today - Yumyum Thi Kitchen  has their "soft" opening today.  Although I don't think advertising a soft opening is really . . . soft . . . . I call it a stress test from the sounds of it.   NOT a hobby restaurant as I BELIEVE Minnie had 4 restaurants in Thailand??? or something like that.

So we have James Street Pizza with authentic New York Style Pizza AND an authentic Thai cuisine.

******

We humans believe we are the #1 predator in the world,  but no - mosquitoes are the #1. They are very efficient at ending human lives.  700,000 people a year die because of mosquitoes.  An estimate says there have been about 108 BILLION people that have lived on the earth and mosquitoes  and mosquitoes are believe to have killed nearly half of them.

and humans are VERY poor at killing mosquitoes.

WHO KNEW  -seems the ceiling of Notre Dame contained 450 tons of lead which vaporized in the fire.  The air in Paris contains 6 times the safe level of lead.   I'll wait to go to Paris.  The city of lead.

Everybody is all up in arms over plastic.  No straws, no bags, yet nobody talks about cigarette butts.  A staggering 5.72 million plastic cigarette butts were cleaned from our waterways in 2018.  14% of cigarette smokers do not believe tossing a butt is litter and 65% of the cigarettes consumed in the U.S. were tossed onto roadways.
