January rain storm - WHAT global warming

Lot's of rain and the wind will be cranking up throughout the day but not as strong as originally expected.  The cold front should pass through about 2:00 this afternoon and if you see a speck of sunlight you know the temps are going downhill.   Probably dark out by the time the clouds start to break up.

Rain should stop about 2:00 also.  Another shot of rain early Tuesday morning.  Wednesday the high will not reach 20 BUT SUNNY.  Thursday slightly above 20 and then a small warming trend back to upper 30s.    47 today as a high.

Looking at ultra long term I don't see any monster cold waves in the next 2 weeks and no huge storms.  In fact all the cold air will be moving north east of us 14 days out. So RIGHT NOW - January will be good at least until the last week.

I think it's more global shifting.  Winters are coming later. I think the seasons have shifted a month

Seems some grumbling about DPW giving out tickets which I do not believe they should. They are NOT the sidewalk police and it puts a bad light on it's employees.  THEY should not be getting the grief for people not shoveling their sidewalks.

NOT THEIR JOB.

Columbus should do what Madison does.  If you see something say something.  If you see a sidewalk not shoveled after 24 hours - THEN call DPW.  DPW should NOT drive around creating hate.

Make it a resident issue when the residents are the eyes for DPW.

Seems people are getting pretty bored of the collage championship games since it's always the same teams  zzzzzzzzzz

In 2017 Clemson vs. Alabama the average resale price for a ticket was $1,466.   Last year the average resale price for Georgia vs. Alabama was $2,969.  This year Clemson vs. Alabama the average resale price is $566.

If you are on food stamps you better start to worry because of the Government shutdown.  Funding ends in January with very little $$ in reserve.  Trump is making America hungry again because he is a racist white supremacist  afraid of diluting America with non-white people. We must keep the master race white with a made up emergency.

**********************
OH - Because of the government is shut down to keep non-white people out of America the TSA is experiencing a 5.5% sickness issue . . . making America VERY unsafe again.

and 3 people have been killed in National Parks because nobody is there to rescue them.

I have nothing more but a couple pf birds

BTW - nobody is talking about the Bears missed FG that WAS TIPPED!!  Don't blame teh kicker - blame the rest of the team for putting him in that position

Video interpolation and how it is ruining TV

WEIRD - Frame rate. (video interpolation) The average video game is 60 frames per second.  The New Spider-Man movie was filmed in 12 (twelve) frames per second  Most movies are 24 frames per second and the Hobbit movies were 60 frames per second.

The PROBLEM is when you watch a movie on your new 4K TV the Video interpolation "fixes" the low frame rate to give you a nice smooth image . . . which is NOT want the director wanted.

The arbitrary love of choppy-looking visuals in cinema.

It seems movies like Saving Private Ryan looks very different on 4K TVs.

SO - My post yesterday got a few responses.  We all know during Public Enemies I was contacted by Graham Man to see if I wanted to be a picture car passenger in Columbus (and later Oshkosh) and of course I jumped at it.

WELL - it seems Scott's 1929 Graham-Paige (photo on right) is the same (make model year) car Pope Pius XII used during WWII and Graham Man has tried to contact the Vatican.

There is a photo of the car from 1970 with a photo of the odometer which has 32,000 unaccounted miles.

NOTE - for the people that cannot comprehend what 32,000 miles are I will use the UDE (Universal Distance Equivalent) of the Empire State Building.

If you stacked 135,168 Empire State Buildings on top of each other, that would be the equivalent of 32,000 miles and that is how far the Graham-Paige would have to climb.

It was the main car of the Pope and would have had diplomatic immunity. Every chauffeur keeps a log of where the car goes . . .yet, there are 32,000 miles missing.  That is a lot of missing miles for a car that was basically tootling around the Vatican (or 60 round trips to Berlin shall we say?)

The Nazi's would all be on foot blending in escaping Germany . . . unless they had diplomatic immunity.   Just sayin'

Of course the Vatican now has more issues.

BOOKS - Hard cover book sales were up 3.5% last year.  The problem is that there are not enough printers to print all the books and many titles are being pushed back.  Digital sales were down 3% in 2018.

Audio books - not a clue.  All I know is that my brother and wife both perform for audio books (perform as opposed to reading aloud) and Ralls performance with the below book is netting a sweet $70 a month  CHING!  CHING!

American History, USS Indianapolis: The True Story of the Greatest US Naval Disaster: Incredible Secrets of WWII

A young adult book.

Ralls is where I learned about performing in a negative decibel room sound proof room.

Catching up on Star Trek: Discovery and forgot how that is such a great show.  Different then The Orville.  Star Trek:Discovery is a 12 hour motion picture and The Orville is old school Star Trek with humor and REAL adult themes such as sex with aliens and other water cooler topics . . not unlike the original Star Trek.

If I had to choose - I would choose The Orville - but I don't have too.

Why Everyone LOVE'S The Orville

GOLF - lots of new rules in golf coming from the USGA - some of the ones that will impact your play are.

Legal Search Time - down from 5 minutes to 3 minutes

Dropping - Drop from knee height as opposed to shoulder - no longer will short people have the advantage.

Taking a stance on the wrong green is no longer permitted  . . and you should check yourself into the nearest AA meeting

Ball Unintentionally Hits Player - no penalty -  HOWEVER - if intentional, still a penalty

Water Hazards are bow called "penalty areas"  - USGA us preparing for water wars in the future

All damage to green can now be repaired - including embedded clubs.

Positioning a club for alignment is not permitted. - Taken from the new movie Bird Bath?  Bird Brain?

Putting with flag stick in hole is permitted.

Ball wedged against flag stick and side of hole is now deemed IN DA HOLE

Nuff said for today - My search for information on the Columbus Christmas ornaments and who is in charge has come up with, shrugged shoulders.  I will continue to harass people in charge to get this elephant moving.

I got trees downtown - now it's ornaments. Maybe I need to team up with Darvin. A good cop bad cop thing.

It's 2019 - NOT a prime number.

After the little clipper flies past this morning expect more and more sun to appear . . at some point.

Saturday the high will be nearing 44 and lots of sun.  Starting Thursday we should have sun sun and more sun and rising temps . . .before a 36 hour rain event starting Sunday night until Tuesday morning.

News Years Eve in Columbus we picked up 3.6 inches of snow and 0.51 inches of precipitation.

Things are ramping up in baseball as we get more and more info on who will be available in our Strat-o-matic draft.

One thing - "I" need a 2nd base along with the Brewers.  Last year there were only 23 players that played more then 100 games at 2nd and only 1 rookie that played more the 50 games at 2nd.

Slime pickins.

Which reminded me of a label for a beer that I made out of my favorite hop  Amarillo

Reading a book about the Nazi Hunters and of course the author has to explain why these Nazi's are so evil. Being a WWII aficionado I knew about the atrocities but . . . . oh man . . . I won't even print it here. What Klaus Barbi did to 10's of thousands of live children . . .

And the Catholic church and the Pope were Nazi sympathizers.

Pope Pius XII made a deal with Hitler.  Let the church continue to practice their religion in Germany  and the Church will turn a blind eye to any Nazi issues.  This deal was put on paper in 1933 called the Reichskonkordat.

When the SS rounded up all the Jews in Rome The Church and Pope did not say one word.  At the end of WWII the Vatican was part of the "ratline" and helped smuggle influential Nazi's to Argentina. The Vatican was the #1 largest organization that moved the Nazi's out of harms way away from Allied justice.

The Germans kept very very detail records of EVERYTHING - literally everything.  They were world class record keepers and there are still over 10 miles records and over 100 million records still not looked at in a cave.  The issue is they could KEEP the records but the filing was a different story. It's all random  . . and in German.

and you wonder why the alt-right conservatives who love Trump also pretend to be religious and are OK with the alt-right Nazi push in America.

There was/is a plan that was started one year before WWII ended that would keep The Thousand Year Reich still going in the background and this is part of it.  The plan was to go into hiding for 50 to 100 years and let things calm down.

In 1942 industrialists in Germany started buying up companies NOT in Germany and sending their secret loyalists to take over the companies and plan for decades down the road.   hmmmmmmm.

The plan was to "operate abroad while disguising their connection to Germany and the Nazi's".  This way they could continue to "conduct military espionage and systematically contribute to the eventual return of Germany's military might".

American steel was one of the big targets.  This comes from notes taken in a meeting at the Maison Rouge Hotel in Strasbourg France August 10, 1944

And now we see Trump who is NOT anti-Nazi AND wants to being US Steel back.  hmmmmmmm

TSA is swapping out pointy eared dogs for floppy eared dogs in airports.  Seems the public is more at ease with floppy eared dogs.

Speaking of dogs.  I have always been against police dogs as they have been proven to be used as a way to search a car for no reason.  Dog's can pick up on body language of their handlers so easily he will spark a false positive whenever the handler wants to search a car.

NOW - hundreds of Police Dogs are being retired because they have cannabis in their brain which, in a majority of America, is not a crime.  You can't unteach so they are being retired and NEW dogs are being programmed at a very very expensive cost.

I am always amazed at what Gus can pick up on. It's sort of creepy actually.   The act of putting on socks has many meanings and he knows them all.  Cold feet? nothing.  Going for a  walk?  He knows.

Side story - we were eating James Street Pizza last night (left overs) and Gus was staring at DJ. She says Gus, you got cheese this morning and and some scrambled eggs, I'm not going to  . . . . . . . and before she can say another word he's like "talk to my paw" and turns around to stare at me!
