WHAT WERE WE THINKING - POPCORN? CELLPHONES?

Public Enemies Scrapbook Party has been Scheduled for Saturday, July 12th at 1:00pm at Osh's house in OshVegas. Space is limited please contact me at luvstmpn@sbcglobal.net to reserve your spot.
=======================================
What are these people doing????? Did you say they were trying to pop popcorn with their PHONES? WHAT? A few to many Kurth's perhaps?

No no - it all started when a FORMER friend of mine at work forwarded an email with a small video (avi) that you can download from my web area. It all seemed so doable. After all, if it is on the internet it must be true right?

So we got eight cell phones together and call th four cooker phones all at once and waited like little children to a miracle to happen.

You know? I think someone was trying to TRICK US!!!

DEBUNKED!!

This is for "m" or any other people REALLY into the NFL. There is a website that is, for a lack of better way to explain, the Bill James of the NFL. In the preseason last year they were one of the very very few sites that said the Packers were going to be WAY WAY better then people thought. I think they predicted 10 or 11 wins when everyone else was calling for 5 or 6.

Along with great words they measure how good a team is NOT by results of games but results of each play. They are serious good Football Outsiders dot com. Their latest article is all about Aaron Rogers. When FB season comes around you will hear me mention them a lot. Plus a few football systems that balderdash as discovered using their numbers.

Ching ching $

Public service announcement

Something YOU guys do not know is that I am one of the best NFL handicappers in the nation. And sadly, I believe it. At one point I had a 900 service and even ad's in Collage and Pro Football Weekly. I have picked 60% winners against the spread for 14 years! THIS is unheard of (seriously). I have put my picks out for free for the last 10 years and LOTS of people follow them. With the find of Football Outsiders we created a system that had unbelievable success last year so yea - I'm pumped!! Stay tuned!

BEER TALK

Kurth Amber (also called Point Amber) is categorized as a "American Amber / Red Lager".

The definition of an American Amber/Red Lager is a lager that boast a bit more malt backbone and overall character than their lighter sister styles. Bitterness is generally low.

Lager? Ale? Whats the difference??

Lagers are any beer made by bottom-fermentation. When the beer is fermented in cold temperatures, the yeast sinks to the bottom. Beer made by this process are usually a smoother-tasting, well-rounded beer. Normally macro breweries are lagers because they have the extra equipment needed for refrigeration.

Pilsner is a word you might have heard before. Pilsner is a lager and is ofen described as golden-colored and dry. Many many brewers take it lightly, in more senses than one.

Ale is a term for a brew made with a top-fermenting yeast, which imparts to it a distinctive fruitiness. Ales are produced in a wide variety of colors, palates and strengths (Bitter, Brown Ale, India Pale Ale, Light Ale, Mild, Old Ale, Scotch Ale, etc).

Top-fermenting yeasts when added to the wort (the witches brew before fermentation), act relatively quickly and fermentation occurs at room or warm temperatures. The beer produced are usually characterized by a complex flavor.

So - today I'm purchasing some home brew equipment and in a couple months I'll have my very first batch.

What is needed is a name for my little 5 gallon brewery. All suggestions are welcome and your prize will be . . . . a 6 pack! LOL

  2. I don't know if I'll like Aaron Rogers... Did you hear what he said???

When asked whether he feels pressure to connect with Packers fans the way Favre did, Rodgers is quoted as saying, "I don't need to sell myself to fans. They need to get on board now or keep their mouths shut."

Later he issued a statment saying he cares deeply about Packers fans and didn't mean anything negative by his quote in the magazine.

That didn't seem very nice though :(

  3. My husband knows how to brew beer at home. If you have any questions you can ask him :)

  4. Well - I'm sure everybody says some not nice things at some point. If you have a microphone attached to you you are bound to say stuff.

Plus - he is probably getting pretty tired of reporter dumb ass questions.

  5. How about "Blog Brew"? or "Grinders Island Brew"?

Did you ever try the Caribbean Chicken recipe? How was it?

    Do bunnys really hug? =0P

And..... *laughs* did you really think the cell phones were gonna pop the corn? ;) Maybe you didnt use the right table? LOL

  6. Rod,

You could call your beer just Grinder's or Rod's Columbus ale. you could also call it New style. I don't know if columbus has a nickname but you could call it MADTOWN Brew because you are close to madison. You may have to check that could already be used.

  7. Minxie, I arrived late, but was able to clear up the mystery of the cell phones not popping the corn. Two things: They were not making phone calls, and they weren't using the Verizon network.

    :p

My vote is for Grinder's Island Brew. If you get into the wheat beer, you'll be all set with the Grinder's Island Wheat. ;)

Have a safe and happy 4th weekend, all.

  8. I vote for Grinder's Wickedly Howling Hops

  11. I missed Suz at the Kurth???

    :(

  12. Grinder's Island Lager/Ale sounds good to me. There are good conversations to be had about the 'Island'.

Thank you very much for the Lager/Ale info. Perfect timing.

Which is older? Lager or Ale?
Ale sounds more 'organic' and older, where as Lager sound more 'processed'.

  13. If the batch turns out *really* bad, you could call it an Island Elixir. lol...

  14. Rod, Great Blog...

To bad the popcorn did not work...
But we all sure got a great laugh out of it..

Grinders island brew gets my vote..

As much as I would love to see our dear old Brett Back. I think he stays retired...
And Rodgers does need to watch what He says...

Who is going to Columbus to watch the Fireworks tomorrow?
and if so where?maybe we can meet up!

Do you have either Jenny's or my cell phone number from last night's fiasco?? :) If not email me..we can find each other!

    djmelotte@yahoo.com

  19. Well, Rod; to come up with a fitting name, we need to know if it will be a lager, and ale or a pilsner?????? lol
Thanks for letting me know that the cell phone/popcorn thingy doesn't work!! I was trying to find 7 more phones to try it!!
How about Columbus PE Ale?? Wait; that sounds like it could be a health problem!
How do you get to the baseball diamond????

    ReplyDelete
  20. If you go with Island Elixir you can use the Sweeney Todd Elixir song (that's not the name of it, help me out Jenny!)

Believe it or not it was a quiet cell-phone day today... When I got in from work I just happened to look down at my phone and noticed I missed 3 calls from Jenny and I was like, how the heck did that happen? My phone didn't even ring today! Then I noticed I missed 3 calls form Robbi, then it hit me...

They were the popcorn calls!!! OMG!

Bunny hugs right back to you , Rod, whatever the heck that means!!! ;)

    Red Bud Ale

Red Bud is a good name for the beer.

  24. Oh yeah! The fireworks are at Fireman's Park. Fireman's Park is on the same side of the street as the Kurth is, probably a couple blocks away..not towards downtown...just look for all the peoples.

The baseball diamond is behind the carnival.

  25. congrats minxie on you're JD encounter!! i'm so excited for you!

  26. Woh! Where is everybody???
We are in West Bend. We went to fireworks in Kewaskum. They were pretty darn good. About 35-40 minutes long.

What is everyone doing for the long weekend?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I talked to LHL awhile ago and we're all gonna be sitting in the baseball diamond behind second base as far back in the outfield as possible. There is a baseball game at 1:00pm tomorrow, so we'll have to wait until that's done before we can put our blankets down. But we'll be sure to put down a lot of them so there is enough room for everyone!
    :)
