First I must go to my happy place and post a photo from our deck this morning. After last nights meeting I really needed a good sunrise to remind me why I moved to this area.
I MUST get this off my chest - a vent!!!
DJ and I attended the Kestrel Ridge Neighborhood Ass. Meeting to see what was up and we were appalled at how many pompous, whiners are in our neighborhood. Shocked because we have made a good number of friends and acquaintances and the people we talked to love the area and other neighbors. We're a very friendly group.
But at the meeting last night many people we did NOT know (and one we are very familiar with ) were showing their colors and throwing a lot of childish tantrums.
It SEEMS, many of the house are not up to their snooty standards (ours included) and the entire meeting was one big bitch session. At one point a neighbor called a house, which is being built with the owners own two hands and all by himself, a DOUBLE WIDE. A friend of hers told people to drive past and look at the Double Wide and then they both cackled!!
How freaking insulting is that!!! I was embarrassed.
I am ashamed at how some of the people attending this meeting treated MLG. They were like children. They sit in their fancy houses thinking others should be like them. They complain that the poles on yard lights have been stained - AGAINST THE ORDINANCE. Or a house is taking too long to build and is too small, or a crack in the sidewalk or somebody has 3 pets or their $34 dues are too steep. A bunch of arrogant BS if you ask me!!
DJ fields phone calls all day with REAL problems, neighborhoods with drive by shootings, crack houses and so forth and these people have the gall to complain that a house is only 1400 square feet - it's RUINING their neighborhood?
Then when MLG asked for volunteers to help them did the whiners raise their hands?? No. All they wanted to do was bitch, not really get involved!
This is a wonderful, beautiful area. The houses, big and small are all kept up and 90% of the people here act like adults and are generous, kind, happy and love it here.
I hope MLG does not think ALL residents are not like the caustic ones!

sigh.
I got a call from Anchor Bank yesterday. It seems I won "yet another" contest and one of my photos of Columbus will be in their National Calendar. In 2008 I was Mr. September in the State of Wisconsin calendar (OK a photo, not ME) with the Danville Mill photo (shown last week).
In 2009 I will be Mr. March with the Public Enemy Columbus photo for Anchor Bank.

Football.
Lets see. I won the 2nd week in a row in one contest. Am 3rd out of 30 in another and I'm 23rd out of 200 in an "Against the Spread" contest AND I won 8 out of 12 ATS in online wagering.
Football was very good to me. . . as it always is.
For anyone that cares on my OTHER blog (the gambling one) I will be all over the Packers again this week. They are 3 point favorites against Detroit.
Some people dislike Thompson but he has REALLY put together a great team. I strongly believe they are STRONG Super Bowl Contenders!

Now I must stop.
I'm like Milo that saw another cat outside and the hair on the back of my next is standing up. Milo and some random cat were screaming at each other through the windows this morning - I bet SOMEONE registered a complaint that we are now housing feral cats.
BTW - Krix does a great job at haircuts!! WELL DONE!! I've had some pretty good hair days lately!
OK - I better stop.
DON'T GET ME STARTED!!!! LOL

Gah, that is obnoxious about the meeting. Ha, people in your HOA would have a field day with my house since we're in the middle of whacking down massive amount of foliage.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the photo stuff! I really need to try and seek out these contests... I didn't even know there was such a thing.
Any Kurth action tonight?
Thanks for the beautiful photo! I love it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, those people sound like a bunch of losers. There are always some of "those kind of people" around. Blech. They need a hobby. A real one.
Have a good Wednesday!
Your neighbor makes me want to vomit! She is so disgustingly rude!
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous photo. Too bad about the neigborhood.
ReplyDeleteI chuckle at your abbreviation.
Kurth tonight? My hubby will be there, maybe I will venture out, too.
Thanx, Rod @:)-glad I could give 'ya some good-hair days...
ReplyDelete...sorry about yours and dj's neighborhood woes-life is way too short to be so damn nit-picky...
...on a happier note your picture is beautiful!
What a shame that these neighbors have nothing better to do than complain about this piddly little sh*#!!! When they have to have chemotherapy and feel sick for days after, or have a child that is in the hospital with a life threatening disease, or may lose their home because of a downturn at work; THEN they have something to whine about!! I hope the real whiners move away and let the rest of you get along in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood! What is MSG??
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the second calendar page!!! I love your september '08
photo and I'm sure the March '09
one will be just as warmly received!
Can I get a bit of an edge on the Packer, Viking, Bears games?? My son is a Vikings fan (I know; where DID I go wrong???) and one SIL is a Bears fan. I need to sound knowledgeable in betting on the games these three teams play! LOL Actually, I think I'm pretty good with the Packer games; I never bet against them!
Great blog today Rod!
Rod,
ReplyDeleteGreat as ever! You have to look at these meetings as entertainment. Remember they do not want to be involved, so most of what they are complaining about will never change. The great part is getting them wound up for something you want to happen. A few subtle suggestions and soon it will be their great idea. Sit back and enjoy the show.....
PS the Graham did not make "Angles and Demon’s" they are going to substitute a 1930 Cadillac.
Scott
No reptiles, livestock, poultry, or pigs OR uncaged birds!
ReplyDeletewhat's next Rod, Playgirl?
ReplyDeleteOh that is so wrong of people to act that way!! There are som any more serious problems out there than a small house! Some people are just way too snotty for their own good!
ReplyDeleteI am waitin gon pins and needles to see how the Packers do this year!!!
Congrats on getting another photo contest in the bag!!!
OoOoO Angels & Demons was such a good book!!! I hope the movie is just as good!
ReplyDeleteFull Unit on the Packers
ReplyDelete1/2 unit on Indy over Minn
1/2 unit on Da Bears Carolina
Great Blog!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo!!!!
Football!! Congrats on your wins...
Snoody Neighbor's make me want a scream...
I just don't understand how people can be like that...
And usually there are the first ones to break the rules...
Ohhh!!! Mr. March!!!!!You Go!!!!
Anyone doing Kurth tonight?????
We'll probably sneak out for one. Or two.
ReplyDeleteAnyone up for 'za 2nite?
No Uncaged birds???
ReplyDeleteWhat are you supposed to do, catch 'em when they go by?!? LOL
Great sunrise, and a good hair day too??? BONUS! ;)
Don't let em get to you G. or they win. See if you can get some of your nice friends to vote for you on the board. Now that will piss them off.
ReplyDeleteSorry I wasn't at Kurth tonight. I have been out and about every night this week, I just wanted to sit home and veg. But I miss you all and I miss taco pizza!!! Maybe Friday?
ReplyDeleteWe didn't end up going to Kurth, Jenny-actually we did drive through the parking lot around 8, but no cars we recognized so we headed back home-Autey wanted us home anyway.
ReplyDeleteFriday might work-we'll let you know.
Hugs!
Kestrel Ridge Neighborhood Ass. Meeting...
