THE FRONT FELL OFF

Public Enemies Columbus Merchandise
WWW.PublicEnemiesColumbus.Com

A few things have made news lately that I could have NEVER predicted. The first came when I read the paper yesterday and Ford said that their F-series trucks and SUV sales dropped 42% last quarter.

WOW - who could have predicted that one. Now they are thinking small cars might be the way to go.

THEN - I was in Borders after work picking up a new book called "Designing Great Beers" and I see on a magazine CLAY AIKEN IS GAY! WHAT? He's gay? Man - where did THAT come from. Sorry - just can't see it. And I was a member of the Clay-nation too.

Not that there is anything bad about being gay. I think gay people are, for the most part, more in tune with the universe then straight people.

THE FRONT FELL OFF

On August 19th 2007, an oil tanker off the coast of Australia split in two, dumping 20,000 tons of crude oil. Senator Collins, a member of the Australian Parliament, appeared on a TV news program to reassure the Australian public.

Here ya go!

=======================
The Brewers - boo hoo. The Cubs - Har har.

I mentioned in the comments yesterday that in 1982 you could no longer listen to Bob Uecker (pronounced ˈˈjǀõkeǀur on one site, yea - THAT helps) broadcast Brewer games. Well that is fixed and I was able to listen to his peppy banter yesterday.

side note - his birthday is the day after mine but 19 years earlier.

Uecker started broadcasting baseball in 1971 one year after the Brewers escaped Seattle and came to Milwaukee. Did you know that Milwaukee did not even know they were getting a major league team until one week before the season started in 1970?

Six days before opening day the players had no clue who they were playing for. With the season's opening day only six days away, there was not enough time to order completely new uniforms, so the club had to remove the Seattle Pilots logo from team uniforms and replace them with Brewers logos. In fact, the outline of the old Pilots logo could still be seen on the Brewers' uniforms.

Back to reality and yesterdays game. It seems to me that the squall line that went through Philadelphia really messed with Gallardo's head. His first 2 innings were great but as the storm came in and wind kicked up blowing out to right he lost it.

Add in a couple poor fielding plays and poor hitting and Brewers Lose. Made it pretty exciting at the end though.

Today hopefully will be a different story and all the Brewers wanted were to split the first two games in Philly (well, take both but let's be realistic). Still, the Brewer bullpen was pretty darn good going 4 innings and only giving up 1 hit.

I can't argue with that. If we had a handful of gay shopkeepers downtown and a good brewpub our troubles would be over.

    EXACTLY!!! The Rainbow Room.

Why do gay people get to have the rainbow thing anyway. AND PINK TRIANGLES!!!

Now I'm getting pissed off LOL

  3. Carriage Classic....tastes like beer! I got a preview of it, and it's a sure winner. :)

And for those of us who are big "Seinfeld" fans, the real phrase is 'not that there's anything wrong with that." ;)

  4. No shock to me that Clay is gay, I just assume everyone is gay. And... you have at least two gay shopkeepers in Columbus ;Op
Not that there's anything wrong with me...(I should get a t-shirt with that)

  5. Some of the best business people I know (at least from a retail and restaurant standpoint) are gay. The vast majority of gay people that I know are very succesful, detail oriented, creative, hard working, have a great eye for design, and have $. In my travels the most succesful downtowns have a pretty solid gay contingent. Columbus could benefit from growing that group.

Rainbow Room has a nice ring to it...

  6. Couple comments for ya.
First, Rickie Weeks is a dumbass. He cost them the game. Catch a thrown ball and they score 0 runs.

Second, Cubs nation has come unglued over their game 1 loss already. I love it.

Third, did you happen to catch any of Palin's interview with Katie Couric? Good god, she was talking about her good friend that's gay and said she chose to be gay. Like it's a lifestyle choice! Where do these people come from? Can't wait to watch Biden destroy her tonight.

  12. In case anyone is not sure, the clip in Rod's link is a comedy not a real political interview.
Australians would be able to tell the difference because they would recognise John Clarke is a well known comedy-actor not a senator.
    Then again, maybe they wouldn't.

  14. Ueck! Ueck! Ueck!

Not to stereotype gay folks as having style and taste, but I always felt a big problem with "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" was that they kept the show in NYC. It'd make so much more sense to have gay makeovers of rural Midwestern fellas who get their wardrobes at Fleet Farm. NOT THAT THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT. It'd just be hella entertaining, 's all I'm sayin'.
