I only submitted ONE Letter to the Editor

.
First thing I must say is remember to vote tomorrow and if you do vote for

VOTE for Pete Kaland Mayor
VOTE for Bill Bruns 3rd District
VOTE for Dave Bomkamp 2rd District

Kaland because he seems level headed and does not attack the other candidate while at the same time calling himself a uniter and I have yet to hear him say "beholden" in a sentence which is a deal breaker in my book.

Bruns - he seems like a nice guy and I like him better then the alternative.

Bomkamp because he is actually sane, has good ideas and will not have a temper tantrum (that I know of) at City Council meetings.

DJ is home today because she hurt her back stretching which tells me stretching is overrated. In fact studies have now shown that stretching to reduce injuries is a fallacy. There is absolutely no evidence that stretching before exercise will reduce injury. In fact DJ has proven that it will CAUSE injury.

Saturday I was involved with a Home Brew Demo in Sun Prairie and the Sun Prairie Wort Hogs provided a bunch of Home Brew. A magazine was there taking photos of me brewing and interviewing. The highlight was when a local bar owner tried some SOS Porter I brought and took the bottle up to the owner of Cannery Wine and Spirits and asked where he could buy some for his bar.

The owner of the store looked at the bottle and it said Grinders Island Brewery and pointed to me, Grinder.

I think it's the 2 oz of Chocolate Nibs I put in the recipe.

I just heard that Sarah Palin's daughters ex-fiancé' was on some talk show talking about his sexual experience's. Ms. Palin is not happy!! I think we need to get that whole family on a reality show, something like Celebrity Vice President Apprentice or something.

OR - just get her elected President - it would be a blast!! Sort of like the Ozzie Osbourn's running the country.
===============================
This day in history the Black Hawk War started 1832 AND just miles away Twinkies (the Golden Sponge Cake with Creamy Filling) were invented. Now if Black Hawk (known to his friends as Ma-ka-tai-me-she-kia-kiak) had sat down with the Illinois militiamen and shared some Twinkies I'm pretty sure the war would have been averted.

On a sad note - I'm pretty familiar with the Black Hawk War because I grew up in Fort Atkinson and the war was fought in and around this parts. Even though I'm not beholden to anyone for telling the truth I find it sad how when Black Hawk wanted so save his tribe he surrendered but the surrenderer was shot and then all hell broke lose.

There is a little known memorial near our building that is very sad. It tells a story about how in this spot an Indian brave was shot in the back as he was crying, leaning over his dead family that had just been murdered by the white men.

I had never seen the small plaque and walked up to see it. I left totally depressed! Great plaque - so uplifting.

Did you know that the cream inside a Twinkie will ferment into an alcoholic beverage after eight years?

Naa - not really!

Here is the trailer for Beer Wars - I would love to see this but it's only showing in two cities in Wisconsin.

OH - Public Enemies.

Let's see - in the past week there have been photographers wondering around Columbus from Wisconsin Department of Tourism. Do these guys talk to each other? Three separate requests. One is for a bus tour and something about a huge national press release on April 15th by the Associated Press.

The 4th of July Parade. Seems Picture Car drivers are very very worried about overheating and some are not attending the parade for this reason. Too long, to many stops.

HOWEVER - I'm getting very positive responses from the people I have contacted about the July celebration and I would not be surprised if we had 20-25 cars - WHICH - leads to some logistical problems that will need to be worked out.

MEETING TONIGHT at 5:30 Julies!
=====================================

Anybody have a part time job available that I might be good at in the future? I'm looking! 10-15 hours a week? Maybe I can work at Mullins, I'll shave my legs!

=======================================

OH - before I forget AGAIN. I only submitted ONE Letter to the Editor last week. That first one was from a long long time ago. I don't know WHERE they dug that one up and I was sort of miffed. Although - what it says is TRUE I really didn't want TWO Letters to the Editor and not one that was sort of attacking people. Bad timing on the Columbus Journal's part.

WHINE!!!!

  1. Isn't there a car show at Fireman's Park during the 4th of July? It would be awesome to see those cars again.

    Feel better soon, DJ!

  7. The car overheating stuff is too true! Old cars all have standard transmissions, try holding down the clutch pedal for 3 hours! I am going to try to come down for the July 25 gathering, as well as Iola the 10th and 11th of July sound like there could be over twenty cars at Iola Car Show (all non-profit event). I am hoping to get to go down to Chicago if they invite me....

  8. Graham Man - a few years ago I did a 500 mile bike ride - the last day was 70 miles and ended north of Milwaukee. I got done - hopped into my vanagon after peddling for 7 hours and got stuck on the freeway going 20 miles an hour for 2 hours.

    I thought my left leg was going to fall off!! My God!!
