DO NOT PAY ATTENTION to the jobs report

So here is some good news - seems social distancing is working as the number of reported new cases  are still increasing every day but that percent of increase is drastically decreasing.   For instance. LAST Friday the 7 day moving average of new cases was increasing 24% a day,  THIS Friday the average is an 8% increase.

In the last 7 days "only" 159,605 new cases in America.  Last Friday I predicted America would have a total of  619K cases if the percents stayed the same -  FAIL!!!   So this time I adjusted my spreadsheet and corrected an issue.

NEXT Friday I'm looking at 420K total cases with new cases only rising 8% a day.

Wisconsin is rising at 11% new cases per day. At that rate Wisconsin will be about 3,600 next Friday - I hope I'm WAY wrong (to the good side).

The bad news is that in Madison there are just not enough health care workers to go around in very very critical life saving areas and with Madison's stupid idea of moving all the homeless people from downtown to the far east sides empty hotels it's REALLY going to be a large issue.

The reason is those homeless are always getting rides to the ER and now that  hospital is being switched  to 100% Corvid19.  So now the ER has to deal with Corvid19 AND the homeless who just want free drugs.

I won't mention UW is stiffing their health care workers "bonus" promise that the ONLY people that knew about it was the people that promised the workers - not anybody that actually deals with money.   YEA - let's screw health care workers!  Seems like a perfect time to make them work 20 hours a day.

Don't go to Door County.  Seems Chicagoan's are flocking up there and with a massive shortage of workers they are devouring everything and buying out the grocery store with a month of groceries. PLUS - if you have ever been to Door County . . . there are basically no Doctors or any health care at all  above Sturgeon Bay.

I've been complaining about CBS All Access NOT being totally free for all of their shows.  For instance Young Sheldon.  A show DJ and I both love.  Well we wanted to see for first few season BUT NOOOOOO.   $2.99 per episode. same with The Big Bang Theory a show we can not STAND because of the hideous laugh track.  The most irritating show in history.

WELL - It seems CBS does not actually own those first few seasons and the company that does own them are holding out for the highest bidder. Netflix?  syndication?   That is the reason.  CBS shows not owned by CBS.

MEANWHILE

Had another issue with our home "theater".   More of a "stereo" system on steroids actually.  It's a Dolby Atmos system as opposed to a "stereo" but anyway.

Every few months LG has a software upgrade on their smart TV and normally it's a smooth thing that nobody notices.

But every 4  or 5 months the Apps (Netflix, Youtube and so forth) go silent and I need to go deep into the menus to see what random thing got switched.

The first time I thought it was the Marantz.  I mean look at the back of this thing.

Bottom row is for all the speakers - not including two 250w subs

You would think this is the main thing to worry about . . . but no its the smart TV that controls everything.

WELL - THIS time none of the apps worked at all and Amazon would just sit there and spin, half loading and half sleeping.  This being the first system I did not set up myself (I wanted it done correctly with no wires showing) it's always a venture into the unknown when something burps.

This time I just could not find the magic button.  I even unplugged power in certain ordersand of COURSE everything is hard to get at.  I called the installers but they are close . . .  IT SEEMS home theaters are NOT essential.

I could not figure out how to reboot the system.  Even unplugging EVERYTHING did not work.

WAIT - Did I see a switch in a menu way way deep . . .  something about "Quick ON'?.   I searched and clicked "NO" to Quick on!

BINGO!!!!   MAN - everytime this happens its something new.

Something I'm worried about is printer ink.   Costco does not carry when my printer needs  935s .  hmmmmm

My REAL SOM team (not the SOM 365) where I actually play games is underway.  My #2 pitcher Patrick Corbin struck out 20 batters last night but did not get credit for a win.  I won 2-1 in extra innings.

My SOM365 team which is a massive amount of fun (as explained in the next paragraph) I'm 7-5.  3 games a night for 8 weeks for 162 games. I do everything but play the games.

SOM365 is a different fun.  In REAL SOM you know how good or how bad most teams are because its a keeper league that has a history.

SOM365 is totally new every season so you have no real idea if you are good or bad.  I WAS good until the injury bug hit that last 6 games (2 nights). 20% of my payroll is injured which is 4 starters in my lineup.  Two starting OF, my catcher and my SS.   I'm having some issues scoring runs.  LOL

DO NOT PAY ATTENTION to the jobs report or any economics today.  Because of the lag only about 1 week of Corvid19 is in any report.  If you were laid off but got your final check the last week of March . . you are still employed.  Yes, the unemployment rate jumped to 4.4% but it's meaningless because it only reflects 1 week of the beginning of the National Disaster.

That 701,000 jobs lost pales with what reality is.  In the last 10 years America added 22.8 million jobs.  Most expect all those jobs were wiped out.  The prediction is April will have a 15% unemployment.  The Great Recession that Obama fixed was 10%.

The key is can businesses survive to rehire all of the unemployed when this is over.

I see the President is calling in the big gun experts in his misinformation pressers.  The MyPillow guy was in his all important press conferences a few day ago.  He DOES surround himself with the brightest people for a pandemic.

I wore a mask to the Pic-n-save in Sun Prairie.  Only me and another woman had masks in the entire store and I felt great.  Got some looks but I was fine. PnS was pretty empty at noon.  Even found a bottle of Lysol.  Still can't find rubbing alcohol.   Maybe I'll make my own.  LOL

Beautiful weekend coming.  Then rain next week

Cheers
